You easily have some of the best reviews on youtube. Love the history behind all these knives.

I was looking for a Laguiole knife for a long time and after watching your original review and advice I ended up choosing a Honoré Durand knife. It is truly a thing of beauty and I thank you so much for your help.

It never occurred to me that people would make CZcams videos on classic type knives, only modern karambits and the like.
I only collect classic knives, albeit a small collection, I have had a laguiole belonging to my grandfather from 1955. This gift probably started my knife obsession.
I'm glad to have found this channel, which I cannot so watching now! Great information and enjoyable presenting style.
    Regards

Your reviews are soooo amazing, Stefan. I have no idea where you were able to dig up actual rare movie footage of Napoleon. And in color no less! Louis Daguerre would be proud of you!

As usual, an inspired choice of music and interesting tales of folklore entwined with a bit of history.

I've just bought a set of laguiole steak knives and didn't realise it isn't actually a brand name but a style of knife

I have seen the fleur-de-lis used in one form or another all over the place. For example the Boy Scouts use a variation of the fleur-de-lis for the webelos. I knew of the connection between the fleur-de-lis and the france monarchy of course and that the symbol was much older, but not how old thank you. I'll admit I never saw the bee and Napoleon connection coming awesome. Take care.

By the way, Stefan, it's pretty sly of you to include the Third Symphony to demonstrate that "Napoleon is everywhere". Yes, some of your viewers do get the inside jokes. :o)

@fred7705 G. David is another traditional cutlery company. - There are no "real" Laguioles and "copies", there are only well made and poorly made Laguioles.

Could you do one on the model:

I'm interested in your opinion about this knife.

I live in Hawaii. I want to buy an authentic Laguoile wine key for gift for my friend....it must have the "bee" and it must have the "shepherds cross", worm and small finely serrated knife.
    Where do get it??

They've got some sweet Laguiole knife kits on their web site for around 20 euros, too bad shipping to the US is 21 euros. :-(

In the video it is told that the privilige to use the bee came from Napoleon Bonaparte.......wich is offcourse not possible. The privilige was granted by Napoleon the Third, (Charles-Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte1808-1873).
    Still....... nice video.
