I kinda want to build a 450 for bear hunting I want to use a 14.5 barrel with a compensator pind and welded on to make it 16" .after my last hunt I closed the gap from 350 yards to 75 yards it was enjoyable and I feel like I don't need a long range rifle for bear anymore .thanks for the vid
Try the precision one ammo through outdoor limited. Super accurate in this gun
Two things tripod and trigger.. if I was to guess. And yes you said what I just said towards the end ..
Yep! Also, we have to keep in mind the relatively slow speed of the bullet/slug in this case. Slug shotguns which shoot similar projectiles at slightly slower speeds are known to have the bullet affected by recoil. With these 260gr slugs I believe we are on the very edge of that transonic zone with bullet speed potentially bringing the rifles recoil into the picture as well. The could also explain one reason why the 250gr Hornady shoot a bit better than the 260gr Accutip, the Hornady is simply a faster bullet due to weight.
Also, keep in mind Remington's box numbers are much higher than what we're actually seeing from this 16" barrel. I believe Remington chrono's almost all their ammo with 24" barrels and no one shoots 24" 450BM.
For a 2 stage trigger the Larue is my go to, I haven't tried the high end Geissele triggers but I do have the G2s, and I was not impressed with the G2s. When I first installed it the trigger was very gritty, I pulled it out and polished the trigger bar, since then it is a night and day difference. At the $120+ price pint of the G2s I did expect more, the Larue is around the same price and all 3 of mine are exactly the same
I'd agree 100% having used both the G2S and MBT-2S.
Hornady black groups 1/2 minute out of mine. MOS tek 18" X-ray profile 1:10 twist stainless under a brownells wrenchman precision hanguard and i had the anderson XL upper lapped. I put a windham weaponry nor'easter break on and i think the top ports are keeping it from grouping 1/4 minute. It's 1/4 MOA across but the groups were 1/2 minute vertically. It shares a lower with my MK12 MOD 1 with a giessele SSA and a magpul PSR stock.
I live up in ankeny btw and i'm thinking about starting a channel on rumble. Dm me if you wanna do colabs 🤣
Where you get ur mags from been having some issues with the 450 in the AR platform short stroking and feeding issues with mag on my 3rd gun in 2 weeks
Seems the recoil on the is minimal. Might I ask, what is your setup?
Any chance you could pick up a PSA freedom rifle and see what kind of performance you can get out of one? Mainly accuracy and lifespan is what I’m curious about. I’ve bought a couple PSA kits lately (one rifle kit and one pistol kit) and don’t have the time or place to stretch them out. I’d love to see what you can squeeze out of the budget guns with different optics and ammo. Thanks man!
Funny you mention this, I've actually been wanting to do this for a while now. I just don't have the time right now, but it's on my list! I do have a PSA 224V video going live today though. :)
Where did u get that bipod?
What buffer size are u running on yours?
Im a reloader and have some rounds that I loaded that do a lil under half moa at 100 yards, if theres anyway to send you some I would to see what your rifle likes.
That's nuts! 5 round groups? I might be interested in testing some handloads down the road.
I'm a reloader. For more reasons than will fit here: Don't shoot other people's reloads.
Highjak86 yep 5 shot group. Not to shabby
how did you convert your 5 round 450 bushmaster lancer mag from 5 to 7 rounds?
Used a dremel to remove the little indent in the sides of the mag which limited how low the follower could go down.
Just using regular Lancer mags?
Yep. I tweaked the feed lips in on this mag a hair, but you can get away without doing that and running 7 rounds in them.
And they do work REAL well on wild hogs in Texas... just saying.
In a hunting practical format, you are not going to have “perfect” set up, bench, rear stability bag to get accuracy. Seems more needs to be looked at if these guns need all that and off a stick or knee won’t do it on game...
