It’s good to take an inventory and assess your bag. I see a lot of missing items and too much of the same stuff. If all you’re going is twenty miles then that could be pared down a lot. I try to follow the 10 c’s now but that doesn’t provide comfort,it’s just survival to get somewhere. Good luck to you. 👍👍

Sleeping system, shelter system, tools (Knife, Saw and Axe or Hatchet). some good wool socks.

I keep three knives on me. As for the sleep system. Yes, MOST DEFINITELY NEEDED!
I think it is time to go through the Jeep and move everything into a GO status instead of a mobile storage unit.

I appreciate you saying that. I know we will never be huge or endorsed, but if we make a difference in just one life, we've accomplished our goal. Thank you, Sir.

You might want to consider adding some cordage, a light tarp, and possibly 1 change of clothes. That 5# could be a game changer in a INCH scenario...!

    • @kan-zee
      @kan-zee Před rokem +1

What type of cordage would you recommend and how much (length) ?
Paracord ? Bank line ? or other ?

    • @PreppingInProgress
      @PreppingInProgress  Před rokem +1

Used to have a full package of 550 cord, but it was missing. I'll have to fix that as well. The change of clothes, possibly. lol

@@kan-zee... My BOB & INCH bag (both) have 1-50’ of 550 (Para cord), 1-50’ of 1/2” Cotton/Poly rope, and 1-500’ spool of 130#-test of Dacron braided fishing line... Total weight is just shy of 3.5 pounds and between the 3 will handle 95+% of any problem I might run into that needs cordage...

I am interested in your "130#-test of Dacron braided fishing line".
Is this similar to Spider fishing line ?

I would prefer bank line #36 over 550 Paracord. Why ??
      1) Bank line is water proof and rot proof . P-cord absorbs water, and gets weaker in time.
      2) Bank line doesn't stretch like P-cord does and it will weaken considerably.
      3) Bank line holds knots better and longer, cause of the Tarr in it . P-cord will slip with alot of knots.
      4) weak spots on P-cord are found where knots are tied. Bankline will not
have weak spots P-cord will weaken in abrasion spots. B-line will not
      5) 550 P-cord has less than 550 breaking point, when it is working. The breaking strength lessens by 40% making P-cord 300 breaking point. B-line has a 320 breaking point and will hold its breaking point longer.
      6) 550 P-cord is made of a 200lb sheath and 7x 50lbs inner strands.
#36 B-line is twisted from 3 strands with each one is 107 lb strength.
      7) #36 B-line, which is 2mm thick, making it good real estate in your cordage kits, and lighter weight than paracord's 4mm thickness. You can carry more B-Line cordage for weight without sacrificing much strength or capability.
      9) Paracord is better for visibility , unless your setting snares or trip lines, and nets..then B-line is better.
      10) length of 1/4 lb of Paracord is 56 feet (17 m)
Length of 1/4 lb of Bankline is 138 feet (42 m)

For my kit I would add a more extensive first aid kit and three contractor type garbage bags. They can be used to carry water or cut up to make a ground cloth, and they weigh almost nothing.

I recall once having a tarp and garbage bags... probably used them and never replaced them. Not good on my part.

@@PreppingInProgress Don't worry about your failures, buddy Steve....99% of preppers, have something in their BOB's, INCH, GHB, Home emergency essentials, and or Preps...that have failures..
      My failures are many :
      1) Organization in BOB
      2) old batteries in flashlights
      3) expired food items & medication
      4) perishable items left in BOB (canned goods, etc)
      5) missing FAK items & forgotten first aid techniques
      6) forgotten knowledge (ex: plant medicine, knot making, )
      7) physical fitness preparedness
      8) forget my cat in bugging out.
      9) checking & refueling my caches with new foods
      10) using 3 yr old fuel cannisters (pocket rocket)
      11) Buying new items and not practicing with them
      12) not caring for knife after use
      13) not repairing equipment
      14) not washing old pair of used socks, in ziploc bag LOL
      15) replacing personal data on damaged usb memory stick.
      16) Replacing and updating family photos in Morale kit
      17)
The list is endless...LOL Your not alone buddy.
