Welcome to down to earth prepping. We are a team of Jacks of All Trades. We are a family. We've been into the preparedness lifestyle for a while now and want to share ideas and the journey with other people. Prepping is not about getting a certain number of MREs or bullets and calling it a day. It is a way of life the continually replenishes itself. For recreation, we're into hiking, camping, kayaking, and outdoor living. We love watching animals play in the wild. If we post something, we reserve the right to defend our beliefs, but we are open to criticism and new ideas.

I’m watching this video when it’s 4 years old. I use Mylar bags but what I usually do with my rice is I buy the buckets from Walmart bakery that the icing came in for $1.00 and clean it out really good. Let dry completely and pour my rice in it. Seal it with the lid. I don’t put it in Mylar bags then in the bucket.
@@tanillecramer3915 unfortunately we did the same with a few buckets and didn't use the bags... The lids cracked and bugs and mice had a feast. Lol
@@PreppingInProgress I’ve realized in the last few days that I need Mylar bags. I’ll be checking my rice and redoing.
I would love some advice on how to make it taste better. I am afraid to add much besides some meat. It doesn't not have a flavor we love yet. thank you to anyone with ideas. I used to spice by taste but have lost the ability to do that in my old age.
11:11 that’s called a blow and burn book.
# 60 LIKES~~~PLAYLIST
what a dumb video. What the hell are you even talking about?
It was interesting to see for a while in the upper midwest. I also watched the NASA feed and they had some awesome views from Cleveland Ohio and a few other places. Next one in my area isn't until 2099. Guess I will miss that one. LOL
You never know. You could make it....
Simple 5lbs sandbag suspended from the underside of the tripod will prevent wind from toppling it.
And I should have, but I always said we'd ahow our mistakes as well as successes. I thought that was going to be the firestarters.... Not the teipod too! 😆
I had the good fortune to be able to experience the total eclipse in 2017 up in Missouri. It was absolutely amazing. It got darker and darker until it was really dark. You could see the shadow in the air coming towards you and then a few minutes later the temperature dropped about 10 degrees. It is truly one of the Creator's most amazing events. To claim it to be any thing other than one of God's wonders is almost blasphemous. Astronomers have known about this event for decades. Turning off the lights in the house at night is not the same. It is a humbling experience. Don't hide from it.
Absolutely. The true concern is man doing something foolish, not the eclipse itself.
We would have had a cold few days if we didn’t have a wood stove. Lost power for thee days last Thursday through Saturday. We use wood heat a lot in the winter. Makes cold days warmer and saves on the oil bill.
Amen to that. We are tying into the grid, but out here that is about as stable as a dementia patient for president
@@PreppingInProgress ha ha ha. 🤣
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 4 Love is patient and kind, not jealous, not boastful, 5 not proud, rude or selfish, not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not gloat over other people’s sins but takes its delight in the truth. 7 Love always bears up, always trusts, always hopes, always endures. If "love" is not all of these things then it is not love but something else.
Absolutely
Every project on a house takes twice as long and costs twice as much as you expected. As a homeowner I know that routine very well. LOL
You got that right!
It’s coming along. It all takes time. 👍👍
Yes, yes it does lol
I'm sorry, but I believe you are not keeping the Sabbath when you are doing a podcast on Sabbath. You have six days for that, not God's Holy day!
Well sir, that is your prerogative to think that. However, I would say to you, First several Torah Observant viewers, a Seventh Day Adventist, and a couple of Jewish viewers have asked for a Sabbath service video and these are for them. As an ordained minister, those are my congregation. Second, we make no financial profit from these videos. Even if our channel were monitized, CZcams would demonitize these ones. You will also note that our regular prepping videos no longer go up on Saturdays which costs us 50% of the weekend viewing hours from non-subscribers. Third, these videos, unless a special message, are pre-recorded and set to time release. Fourth and finally, we've actually lost subscribers since starting this ministry. Shalom and Blessings to you and your family.
Hi friend, as long as he is witnessing, he's doing God work
Thank you with all my heart. It took a lot of thought and prayer to make the decision to do Sabbath messages.
what about the SDA preacher who preaches on Sabbath? (and gets paid to do it)...or the Jewish rabbi who preaches on Sabbath (and also gets paid to do it...)...or Jesus who preached on Sabbath (and didn't get paid to do it) here's what's wrong with "religion"...judgement of others by those who think they know better...
👍
I converted to SDA back in 1977 when my first wife and I married...she had been a lifelong SDA. No one becomes SDA because of Ellen White. She did not even consider herself a prophet. I am no longer SDA but many of the themes have stayed with me, including the no rapture doctrine. Folks forget the massive destruction that accompanies the second coming. No one gets a second chance. When Jesus comes your fate is sealed..."let he who is filthy be filthy still".
WELL SAID!!
You are WRONG in saying that those who believe in the rapture say or believe they can do anything they want. ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE!!!. SDA had its roots in the Millerite movement of the 1830-1840’s, during the period of the second great awakening, and was officially founded in 1863. After speaking with a family member who is SDA, totally not biblically true in beliefs. Jesus is the one and only Lord and Savior. Study scripture and compare them to God’s truth. God bless.
@user-im6mq5iv1j please note that I was drawing the correlation between the Once Saved Always Saved group and THEIR belief in the Rapture not ALL Rapture believers. If you'd like a whole lecture on Adventist Beliefs, William Miller, Joseph Bates, etc. We can do this. You're talking the Approved Sabbath Afternoon reading material I had growing up. I don't know who you are talking to, but SDAs believe that Salvation only comes through Jesus Christ. You really should do your own research and/or attend their actual Bible Study meetings if you want to claim things like "They aren't Biblical."
@@user-im6mq5iv1j sigh....
Amen ❤
In Australia those Jars are $45 for 6 before freight. No where in my town sells them. This is why I use Mylar bags. The buckets are $10 for a 20 litre bucket (5.28 gallon)
WOW! And I thought we were getting expensive at !10-$15 for 6 at the farm store. Our Home Depot buckets are about $5. For food storage, I hop on Amazon and get Gamma Lids.
In a SHTF for the first week or two my plan is to do 99.9% listening and .1% or less transmitting. If the situation seems secure then I may start using my radio setup as a command center to pass information on the east side of my town. If you become useful at giving out information then you also become valuable and worth protecting. First responders will have their hands full. Hams like me can help people connect with lost loved ones or to put information out of who is ok and who is missing, or may need help. Chances are by that time I will have some direct connection to fist responders to pass information back and forth as needed. During the hurricane that hit Puerto Rico many hams including ones from my area took down radios and equipment. The first responders had no radios to use. The towers for the repeaters had been blown over and there was no power to run them anyways. Hams had field setups to do these things because every year we practice emergency setups for field day.
Exactly. Great Points! We did some networking when the hurricanes hit Texas a while back. They were getting HF out, but nothing local. We could relay from Arkansas back to Texas and give information to the rescuers.
IN SHTF there will be no RULES, it will be WAR and War is hell no one is going to care if you have a license get real man
I think you missed the point. It's not so much the getting the license as knowing how to oper5a radio and knowing the ability of the bands you're using. How they can light you up and make you a target. Also how not having a license would make you suspicious to someone already on edge and protecting his people
@@PreppingInProgress just because i dont have a license does not mean i dont know how to operate, having a license will place you on a list thats suspicious too, now they know who operates, nobody is going to cre when war starts, wave you deeds and titles and license in air and they will still come for you
@@egenestarr1986 Can you pinpoint a location of a radio just by power, freq, and topogrophy? Without going out and getting a triangulation bearing?
@@PreppingInProgress some will do this and some will do that, i see no reason to officiate anything at this point, its all coming apart at the seams, im just saying, but people will do what makes them feel good.
I agree with you. This video was just a rant because it does get old when people of little knowledge just make assumptions and claims that make me shake my head. And yeah, I put the time and effort in to the hobby so I guess I'm biased lol
I’m just popping in but will catch the video in the morning
See you soon
Just checking in .
Hey Good to see you! Hope all is well with all of you.
What's up, Steve hello from the Apalachicola. Things have changed in America in five years .the McCarty family.
Things certainly have, haven't they.
Yes and no. Pre or post. I've got my I termediate license I'm not turning anyone in regardless.
But are you going to feel comfortable with someone walking up on your place acting like an oddball on the radio?
Good to see an update from you my friend. I'm glad to hear the place is coming together. It's definitely been a time of loss lately for me as well but it's not the end but rather just a season of time apart. I hope to see more updates on your home and its coming along awesome so far!
I'm sorry you've dealt with hardships. I'm here if you need to talk.
Good to see an update from you. You were on my mind recently. Keep em coming.
There will definitely be more soon.
Thanks for the update! Have that bear guy you were friends with come help you button that project up.
He's busy with Refuge Medical and Caleb House and has no time.
@@PreppingInProgress you can always make time for friends. No time is just an excuse. I seen everyone helping him when he needed something but I never see him reciprocating those favors. And if your friend is living in a jeep you don't turn them away, plain and simple, that's not a friend. I am glad you're doing better now!
Thanks for the update Steven. We are doing fine here in the upper midwest. Just waiting for spring to settle down and not think it's winter again. lol Also, Doing the prepping things. Some days just one little baby step, but keeping the progress in a forward direction. Your cabin / retreat is looking good. Not taking that tiny shed was a blessing after all. :)
This is true. I have no idea what we would have done with it... Maybe turned it into an office? Lol
🙏🏻
Don’t forget the friend that you may not see or talk to every day, but when you do, you can finish the conversation you started last time. Great video. Thank you for the construction update.
Amen to that. I just wish we could see each other more often
One general rule applies. Geography. A cart of some type is a huge plus if you live in mostly flat regions. The ability to carry even 40 pounds of water is huge. Overloading is a definite killer.
VERY TRUE! Trying to haul water in our mountains is a pain!
I rather use the jars 🫙.
Omg we lost everything in a boating accident also!!! lol hate when that happens!
Nothing but fear porn with all the same goals in the end, make as much money from the gullible as possible.
True. Although Ms. Kim did go into that one with an agenda. lol
Wow good ole biden those jar around 34 dollars now
True that. You can sometimes find them cheap at garage sales, estate sales, or even farm supply stores
Homesteading = prepping
Very much so
1:17 You still need battery power for the fridge LP burner to light...
Well, I guess it's a good thing I don't have to worry about that trailer after Ms. Kim took it with her when she ran off with the guy at work. 😆
@@PreppingInProgress Oh ! Problem solved ! Hope it was for the better...
@@TennesseeHomesteadUSA oh yes, new job, slowly building a tiny house, recently remarried to an amazing woman who was born to be my partner in all things. Life is amazing now.
Prepper women are ride or dies
Sometimes, Miss Kim left me for the guy at work 4 years ago. Thankfully I met Miss Kay and we've been married just over a year now.
Great breakdown thanks so much!
Since I have been a believer for over half of my life now, the Holy Spirit has led my path in many ways. A lot of them were not places I would choose and some were quite uncomfortable. Never the less, to see God do great things, you can't stay home on the couch watching tv or internet. Doing street ministry I have been blessed to see and share the change in people who have come to the Lord for the first time. I saw a stage full of homeless men get prayed over and find out later all of them got jobs within days. We serve a mighty God.
Borrowed world series and mad mick are my favorites.
Absolutely
Hope you are doing okay. Seeing this video was a while ago. I’m in that same place you were. Single for forever now and it would be nice to have a partner to worship with abc prep with ect. I’m still trying to figure out religion and sabbath ect. For me it’s very tough
I do understand that. I made some bad choices in my dating prior to getting serious with my now wife. The problem is many people we encounter in life look good on paper, but the reality is something different.
Love the kitten. Thank you for sharing your info.
You are most welcome. Sorry we haven't replied to comments until now.

Does rice not puncture the mylar?
In the 10+ years I've been storing rice in mylar bags, never. I have heard of people getting thin bags at discount places and either having the bag burst or rice poke through, but it has never happened to me.

Well Ruckus chooses when she puts in an appearance! lol

It looks delicious! Tell Ruckus that her mama Pokie says hi, lol!
Will do!!
Hello! I'm Jera's mother. I never knew that you two are Torah Keepers, Torah Observant or Hebrew Roots. I am also, and I've tried hard to raise our daughters this way. I believe in YeHoVaH the Father and in Yeshua the Son. I love to share things with others to help plant a seed in them. I now know that I will be watching you videos, especially if you plan on doing a Sabbath video. May YeHoVaH bless you and your house! Baruch atah YeHoVaH! Gadol YeHoVaH!
That's the plan. I grew up Seventh Day Adventist which is as close to Torah as you can get without being Torah. As I came back to my roots, I found some friends who are Torah observant and they brought me to it. It's good to finally put a name to Jera's family. I wish we could have been at the wedding, but I think Kay had Covid at the time.
Shabbat Shalom Steven...!!! Great message, Bro !!!
Thanks Tommy. Shabbat Shalom.
We "the meek" that will inherit the earth will be we the believers when Jesus returns and the kingdom is set up. Jesus said that the leaders among us must be servants to the rest. A good servant is always meek. As leaders, if some of us should be so blessed, we must show compassion to those we will be in charge of. Jesus showed this by washing the feet of his disciples to show them what he meant by a servant leader. Have you ever been to a dinner at a religious place and saw the Bishop waiting on the priests and brothers and lay people? I did see that happen one time in my life in Ohio. That Bishop knew the definition of being a servant leader. The world we live in the leaders are far from servants or meek or humble. They lord their power over people.
I have Auguson Farms, Mountain House and some other long term food from companies. I also do my own long term storage. So why do I pay extra for the company stuff? They have equipment I cannot afford to test the quality of what they are packing along with any type of biological or chemical contaminants. I could easily lose a portion of my own preps not knowing what was in the food. 99.99% chance all the company foods will be just fine in 20 or even 30 years. That is good insurance.
Those are some great points. I've been thinking about ways expand our food saving ability. Freeze dryers are so expensive though. I admit, I want one.
