Seems advanced conceptually. I can see its influence on silat, or vice-versa. Ideas akin to Filipino PTK. Thank you for this demonstration, sir 🙏

Absolutely! I'm a silat player and I see so much indian influence in the silat. Same for southern chinese martial arts. It's so similar to the pukulan I know. It totally makes sense that it came from the footsoldiers of india during the indian empires that ran indonesia and the south east asian region.

I would really appreciate the armed martial art rather than unarmed. There is a lot of unarmed martial arts, modern and traditional, lot of their practicioners, but while the community is huge, modern trend is to consider MMA as the top tier mostly because it is selfproven by real use and some traditional forms aren't accepted or it is even ridiculed (with good reason, because there really is a lot of "bullshido traditional forms" which doesn't work). I can't consider the most of the communite as openminded and there really are some good reasons for it. On the other hand, there really is quickly rising HEMA community, ppl who are looking for some other sources and they would be interrested in another not well known form of armed fighting. It would hit the nail more efficiently I suppose and this master get my attention years ago by his tulwar and other bladed weapons video, rather then Platha presentation. Not everyone could understand armed fighting so it would attract less ingnorats and les overciticism and for those who understand it everything would be more obvious and more easily accepted so it could bring way more attention.

First off I can tell you personally the mechanics are not the same as western boxing or wrestling in that you ground your feet all of the weight is shifting from the spinal cord down to the heels which makes your movements light and less telegraph or unable to predict at all. I have down Karate and Muay Thai and boxing and BJJ and Wrestling ans well as some Kali and Kalari martial arts which is Indian, this is way more advanced. If you even learned the fundamentals you would get it

No. Britishers banned this martial arts and actively pursued and executed any surviving masters and warriors after 2ns anglo sikh war. Weapons were taken from every sikh home and practitioners killed on mere suspicion.

@@mayfieldca I must however remind you that Gatka and this are very different. Gatka originated in Central Asia and become a widespread sport in the villages of Northern India. There are village martial arts very similar to Gatka all over North India.
Shastra Vidya on the other hand is the martial art of the elite, the warrior class - Kshatriya, Rajputs, etc. And from the time of emperor Akbar onwards, many Mughal warriors also practiced Shastarvidiya, some who may have mixed it with Persian martial arts.
This is one of the reasons that Gatka is widespread today and Shastarvidiya is not. The more sophisticated a martial art is, the less likely it's going to be passed down intact. Especially when the martial art in question was used for military training and military training shifted more towards guns.

This is modern day martial art with Indian name which has no real work in self defense.... Everyone plz learn boxing or judo Or wrestling or muay thai which is useful..... It was an ancient technique used to do battles and almost forgot 500 years ago... Nobody will be able to teach you the real thing.... So stick to modern day martial arts which everybody knows

No, it's real. Different cultures have different ways of doing the same thing. What you see in this video is the most basic of the basic, for self-defence (the most important aim). This is actual self-defence. If 2 people get into a fight willingly (e.g. as in combat sports, or from anger), then this tactic doesn't apply. But one trying to hurt another, and other just trying to stay unharmed AND not hurt the other too much? Will work. If your drunk uncle kicks off at a wedding party, do you really want to mash his head in with Muay Thai? Or is that what you want to teach your kid, to deal with a school bully? Of course not.
