Portuguese sparkling wines were a great surprise and I can’t stop buying them. Murganheira sparkling wines from Távora-Varosa DOC are amazing! They do over 10 different labels including monovarietals & blends, whites, red, blanc de blanc, blanc de noirs etc. They are all amazing! The ones from the Bairrada DOC region are also great! Blanc de Noirs made with Baga is simply divine!

My G/F and I have been on a HUGE sparkling kick lately. I think we went through about 3 cases of Cremant De Bourgonge last month (it was our birthdays). We had a pet nat and piquette week in October too!
I got to try a Cremant de Loire over November too... while I love Chenin Blanc, and this was typical of the grape, it was a little too much acidity for my taste and I much preferred the Bourgonges.
Also, you rock and we love you!

Great video, Madeline! My friends and I actually did that comparison a couple of month ago as part of our "52 weeks of wine styles" challenge. We opened a good bottle of Champagne, a couple of bottles of different Cava, Crémant, Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG and traditional method sparkling from Tasmania - all from from high quality producers. That was a fantastic tasting I'd say. My fav were Simonnet-Febvre Crémant de Bourgogne Brut N.V. (I'm sorry, Bollinger) and Rebuli Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG.

I definitely would add Winzersekt Traditional Flashengarung from Germany, Austrian Sekt g.u. with it's 3 quality levels, Hungary is making amazing traditional method sparkling wine and is being mentioned more frequently in Decanter and other wine magazines. Definitely agree with Leonardo Arajuo that Brazilian sparkling wine should be getting more attention. As far as who was the "first" to make traditional method sparkling wine there is a considerable amount of debate as to whether Champagne was the first. A lot of wine writers point to Cremant de Limoux being first, (including WF in WF the Masters Guide--- Magnum Edition. Clairette de Die also is believed to pre-date Champagne.

Excellent video and will look out for some Pet-Nat. Coming from England and the south of England I have to shout about English sparkling wine made in the traditional method many of which are as good as any champagne especially Nyetimber, Ridgeview and others including a wonderful one from Smock Alley winery I tasted last Friday which was just spectacular. French champagne houses are now buying and developing vineyards in England as the geology is very similar to champagne. Do taste some if you can get them across the pond.

Having a 'standardized" resource to essentially index specific bottles would help people like myself refine my palate and wine descriptions.
