As much as I love Zed, Shen won this round. "..But a shadow of a man that you once hoped to be".
Shen didnt "choose the path of light" he chose the path of twilight. if zed was a good guy shen would still be fighting him for trying to upset the balance. as a matter of fact, its implied that shen sends akali on missions to kill good people and kennen to kill evil people to balance out the scales.
"Akali is one of these shadow warriors, entrusted with the sacred duty of Pruning the Tree - eliminating those who threaten the equilibrium of Valoran." Trees are usually used to represent life, and pruning is only removing excess. she assassinates people that are "excessive. as well as her backstory involves killing good people under zed himself. "She has had to do much in this role which others might find morally questionable"
"Kennen is one of these shadow warriors, entrusted with the sacred duty of Coursing the Sun - tirelessly conveying the justice of the Kinkou." The sun is regarded as good, since it provides light, and justice can only be given to those who do wrong. He is also a yordle who, with one exception, are regarded as a cute, happy race who always happen to be on the morally right side of any fight.
Akali is the evil to balance the good, Kennen is the good to balance the evil, and Shen is the scales to measure it all.

@@ArukiTsukaru No, Shen is true neutrality, balance is not good winning, nor is it evil winning, it is both sides being kept equal, and that is what Shen represents, good must not outweigh evil, but neither can evil outweigh good

The reason to keep "balance" is also suggestive as here there is no real scale he can use or measurement of how good or bad a person is. He's sending hits on what he believes to be "excessive". So Shen is a bad guy. Say someone pays for your meal out of the goodness of their heart, hits the lottery and then pays for everyone's meals. Just for akali to lob his head off. Shen is bad.
@@arenamaster51 Shen certainly isn't good, but I wouldn't call him bad, yes he sends out hits on seemingly good people, but he also does the same for evil people, making sure there is never a vaccum left behind by his murders, sure, just because you killed a mass murderer doesn't mean you can kill an altruist, but murder in of itself is wrong even if committed against evil people, and I don't think Shen goes eye-for-an-eye, killing 1 good person per bad person he killed
But it was then Zed and Shen realized they had to combine their forces to conquer an even greater evil, so at last, hand in hand, light and shadow merging together, the two ninjas became... SHED!

Also the kinkou believe that everything should be in harmony even good and bad. Think like this he doesnt pick a side like the light or the dark but he is in the side of truth. He removes all good or bad feelings before making his choice. he is in the side of balance

+Protoss Executor I do not believe it is so simply explained. Good and bad are very loose terms. Noxus isn't "bad" they just seek power through any means necessary. I will not judge due to "bad" or "good" I just to maintain the balance of light and dark, even if it means protecting some unsavory characters along the way.

Nah, that's not what he means. He means that Zed is but a shadow of the person he (still referring to Zed} used to be, and who Zed wanted to be. In the lore, before Shen, Kusho, and Zed were hunting Jhin, Zed was a real stand-up guy. Not much is known, but he was smart, considering that Jhin's lore states that Zed started to fail his studies (meaning he had fairly decent grades before), and it seems that he and Shen would have been really close, but over time, he slowly got corrupted and changed by the things he saw, not to mention Master Kusho's decision to not kill Jhin when they had the chance. Zed always wanted to be better than Shen, so when Shen says a "man that you hoped to be", he means that Zed is no longer the person he himself thought/hoped he'd become. Imo, it feels less like Shen trying to throw shade, and more of showing sorrow for Zed and who he'd become, and missing the people they used to be (before Jhin).
Considering their overarching lore, and the fact that they didn't immediately kill each other when teaming up to try and take down Jhin (realistically, if Shen truly despised Zed that much, he'd have tried to cut him down in the bar), shows that Shen (not sure if Zed still retains memories of who he was), knows that Zed was corrupted, and that the true Zed, whoever he used to be before Jhin, is somewhere deep inside. That's why Shen wouldn't cut Zed down, and why Zed wouldn't make any moves to kill Shen. What Zed did that day at the Temple wasn't of his own accord. It was a side effect of the trauma induced by Jhin's "art" and disgust at Kusho's unwillingness to kill Jhin, the rage built up from those years of never besting Shen, the soul-crushing despair he felt when cast out by his own Master, and the overall power of the Forbidden Art manipulating him. Keep in mind, Zed himself never planned to launch any attack on the Kinkou when he went to retrieve the Box, but to take it and leave so that he and his army could master it completely. Something tells me we'll eventually see something in the lore that shows the little shard of Zed's past self-- as he is a "grey character", or an anti-hero in other words. He's not looking for the destruction of mankind. Just the destruction of Jhin, tradition, and to allow all people to pursue all Arts. Even the Forbidden ones.. After all, "Tradition is the corpse of wisdom".
Shen main out here, calling out the other Shen mains, to remind the people that our tale hasnt ended

SanJoseStudios Shurima and Ionia share the issue of not having enough bad guys. I guess it could be fixed by letting champions from other lands have some guest performances, if they are somehow connected in the lore. Let's say that Singed and Riven have caused a bit of mayhem in Ionia so they could have a verse in TIW: Ionia. How's that?

My overactive imagination is tingling... I can see an animation out of this. At 0:56, you have Shen advancing across the bridge toward the old Kinkou Monastery, dispatching an onslaught of shadow clones, his spirit blade constantly in motion and simmering with energy. At 1:02, you see a distorted bust of Zed, in that sort of weird flashback way, arguing at Shen. At 1:07, back at the bridge, Shen stands alone, looking upward to the monastery. At 1:11, you see Zed practicing at attacking Shen, spinning and impaling the test dummy. At 1:13, you see Shen and Zed meet in the monastery courtyard and running toward each other, but it breaking off before they clash.

I'm left speechless, the song is just awesome! Of course It would be better if each of them had one more paragraph, since past songs feature many more characters who still had a long part in their song (Like the BloodMoon song), but even if I'm left yearning for more Shen vs Zed action I still appreciate what I've been given :)

Would be pointless. Since Shen is NOT representing light. He is still a ninja. And he and Zed both have the same line. He still moves through shadows and performs balance teqniques. Zed performs shadow tecqniques and moves WITH shadows. so its unlikely not because Rito doesnt make costumes for Zed and Shen but because it would be bad for Shen.

nah zed beaten shen with shadows..shen had no spirit blade.. shen can enter to spirits realm and beat evil spirits so he can beat zed easily ..they didn't fight again
When zed invaded shen's order Shen was able to hold both zed and his order off single handedly to let some of his comrades escape

In the game - not currently, and I say that as someone who likes shen enough to cosplay him (well, a pool party version of him) as part of a cast. Sadly, he kinda sux right now, his Q and W being out-right useless past the early game stage (lets admit it, nobody actually heals from that stupid Q in teamfights). I wish Riot would completely overhaul him to make him feel more like a samurai, since a tank ninja is something so bizzare it literally can't exist. Sadly they're intending him solely for split-pushing, which just isn't enough for a champion.
Edo Neumann They slightly buffed him last patch, and said that a big change for him was in the works, so you may get your wish.
They should remake him :/ and not a tank but an assassin im serious the last ad assassin that came out was zed :( i want more ad assassins
Natsu Dragneel Shen doesn't strike me as an assassin. He's supposed to be a judge who executes what he deems to be right on those he finds guilty (aka "a demonstration of superior judgement"). Also there are already Zed, Akali and Kennen as assassin ninjas, tho Kennen is somewhat a mage. I would really like Shen to become a fighter and feel like a badass Samurai who storms the battlefield with such power and focus that even when you cut his head off his body keeps trying to kill you for a few seconds before falling :D
