Great tutorial. Although all lens elements were clean, you saved me a bunch of trial & error loosening up a sticky focus ring!

Thank you for sharing this. I have two of these lenses and one has a sticky point in the focus. This video has given me the confidence to tackle disassembling the lens, cleaning it and working on the sticky focus. I hope that a good cleaning and some helical grease will fix it. If not, I will enjoy the experience.

    40:57 for everyone!!
You all should just heat this with hot air or fire, and it'll be unscrew just in touch,I couldn't unscrew this before I warm this up

Thank you! The rear element of my lens had become loose and seeing how the lens was assembled - it turned out I didn’t even need to take the lens apart at all- just screw the element back in. I guess to fix properly I should take it apart to get some thread lock in, but my lens works again!

Would be very grateful if you tell me how to eliminate the backlash of the front lens block. Just tighten the three bolts that hold it on?

Hi Kenneth, great video and verry helpful!
I disassemble mine because of focus stiff spots. It was almost dry, so I applied small amount of helical grease # 10. Now is better, but the focus is a a bit damped. Can you show how to properly re-grease this lens, as I also was unable to open the outer helicoid? Or just to suggest good grease for AF lens?

Hello mikeno62 what a wonderful channel, you have helped me so much doing some repairs on my own equipment and really appreciate your information. I am just about to dive into a Synchro Compur shutter and I have a question on this, after the Synchro Compur on the lens there a dash and the letter P is that something special? Or is it very similar to the other Compuor shutters, thank you in advance, regards Kevin Flynn
