      What is great about cashing in on the African-American consumer dollar? The game of paying real reparations Is one no complicit country wants to play. Every one seems to be able to get reparations except those that are descendents of those that were enslaved......its been 400 years!

      @@dreamasmith5939 I don't look at it as cashing in them though, this is what many Africans want also we know what African American go through in America but the problem is that Africa is not in a position to enforce those who were involved in a slave trade to compensate those who suffered in their hands. Another problem Africa is not in a better financial position to return those who wants to return to Africa, the only thing I disagree with is that the land should not be sold to them but they should be given the land free because they are returning home government should have arranged that.

      @@missbabyloved7531 Yea I just saw it but I don't think the land is enough to be distributed to 40 million Americans I don't count Caribbeans and South America because that would be over 100 million population. I think what Ghana is trying to do is to lead or show other African countries that these are our people they should not suffered in our eyes because Africa is better than before. Also you have to remember not everyone came from Ghana, some came from Angola, Congo, Mozambique, Cameron, Senegal etc but many people prefer Ghana because it is a welcoming country so far it has good history.

      @Corey Walker , and you know this by virtue of what proof?

    • @dwrighte1
      @dwrighte1 Před 5 lety +2

      @Corey Walker , Let’s carefully analyze each of your assertions.
      1. Different Y-Chromosomes. Where is your proof that Black Americans have different Y-chromosomes? If by that what you mean is that many black Americans possess European ancestry, then there is a reason for that. If the often-told reason is that the white slave master impregnated his black slave woman, which resulted in this being passed down then there will be an ever-present Y-chromosome linked to Europe (especially northern Europe). However, the remaining DNA (mitochondrial) is traced to Africa, in particular, West Africa.
      2. Skulls and hair texture. I have never heard this before that black Americans and Africans have different skull shapes. Again, depending on the genetic person of your typical black American, then this may explain what you assert as different skull shapes. Likewise, hair texture may be traced back to possessing genes that are associated with Europe and or Asia. I am not quite sure what hair growing out of follicles prove; so, I will await your explanation on that one.
      3. As for involving the Bible in this discussion when you are relying on scientific methods to make your argument is astounding. The Bible is not based on any observable science and cannot be deemed credible in this discussion. I see you believe the Hamitic myth, as many racists and white supremacists do, which they have relied on for the subjugation of the black race. Most whites would argue that Aryans (in particular Jews and Arabs) are derived from Shem; hence, why they are referred to as Semitic (more so, for Jews than Arabs). Shame on you for using the same anti-intellectual rubbish in a twisted way to prove something that is highly incredulous.
      4. I am not familiar with either Verrazzona or Desoto but can look into and review their works.
      To summarize, you still have not provided me with any cogent and convincing proof. In fact, you have relied on science and myth at the same time to solidify your argument but they each contradict each other. If science asserts that the world is more than 6,000 years old and the Bible says the world is 6,000 years old, where do you stand?
      For what it is worth, I will post some links to information that was derived by the scientific method, peer review and intensive journalistic research for you to digest.

      @dwrighte1 Před 5 lety +1

      @Corey Walker , I do not subscribe to the notion that these DNA tests that we have heard so much about are entirely accurate. Despite that, it does not mean that black Americans have not genetic connections to Africa. For you state that in a public forum, albeit your entitled opinion, irresponsible and dangerous. Science is not perfect but is the best approximation we have of understanding our world and ourselves. As we proceed, we learn more and further revisions to previous scientific laws may be overridden or modified. That being said, I have seen nothing that would completely discard the hard and tangible proof that blacks in the New World originated from Africa.

    *The problems we face as Black people stems from Africa's under development. Black Americans in particular (collectively with others in the diaspora) need to become the financiers and economic engine of African socioeconomic development; and by proxy owners of corporate Africa; instead of the Asians and former colonizers. One million African Americans etc. aggregating a small amount of our income can make tremendous positive impact here in the US and on the African continent; in terms of investment and socioeconomic transformation. In my estimation, there're about approx. 50 million+ Black Americans (including members from the diaspora) in the US currently. If one million pledged $100 USD a month to fund any project.. that would essentially generate $100,000,000 (one hundred million dollars USD) for that month and over one billion in one year. On the African continent that amount would increase exponentially based on the currency exchange rate. Think Brother and Sisters think.... I was born and bred in Ghana but I I'm well educated, I personally won't take someone coming to tell me otherwise. Besides, like someone said, education is not the same as intelligence. You don't want a bunch of Non-African looking "black" people taking advantage of this kind offer from your country. Your country should also have strict a definition on what it means for someone to be considered a native African.

    First off, I am a white male. I am just speaking of general human nature that transcends race or nationality. Unfortunately, human beings are always looking to take advantage of other ppl. I tend to be suspicious of anyone opening the doors of the country and telling African Americans to come in. They are expecting something from those who go I think. Also, Africans are leaving Africa in droves for Europe. Like "Spiderman" who saved the baby in France was a young man who left his country of birth to find a better life in France. France recognized his talents and granted him immediate citizenship and a job as a Fireman. So things like this makes me kinda wonder why ppl are leaving there and why are they asking African Americans to move there. I wish Africa well. But I think Africa must clean up their Governments to put their own ppl and their own country ahead of themselves. Just my opinion.

    Ghana have made such a smart intelligent and blessed decision and it’ll make Ghana great. Ghana is awake to its responsibilities. Many of the African Americans and people of African ancestry in diaspora are actually descendants of leaders/royal houses, great builders, architects, merchants, traders, inventors, Warriors, craftsmen, poets, scholars etc who built great African empires, kingdoms, and societies. The powers they had then is still passed in DNA, blood, and spirit into their current descendants and children. If they all go into Ghana with no limitations or restrictions of bondage (such as they face in America, Europe, Caribbean), imagine the greatness that will start to come out of Ghana in the next generation. Ghana will become a full blown global power nation. Other countries or regions like Biafra in Nigeria need to wake up and begin to do as Ghana is doing as most African Americans were actually taken from that region called the Ibos (Heebos or Hebrews), Calabari, Edo etc known as Biafra. Ghana is doing great and everyone is proud of Ghana.

Ghanaians are being forced to pay high import taxes at the Ghana port while Nigerians import their goods to go to Nigeria so they pay less import taxes in Nigeria 🇳🇬 and then smuggle most of their goods to Ghana 🇬🇭 via road and sell them cheaper than the Ghanaians so that affects the Ghanaian retailers profitability, also some Nigerians use their retail licenses to sell goods that their licenses do not permit eg one Nigeria retailer was found selling car spare parts in Accra with small cellphone license so the Ghanaians asked the government to fix those errors and have them also pay the same taxes or not allowed to do the petty retailing but the Nigerians don’t tell this side of the story. Is it fair for the Nigerians to do this type of things?

      Melv H I went to Ghana in July and stayed a whole month. The people I encountered were very nice and I had a good time. However, do your homework before you go to manage your expectations. People romanticize returning to the land of our ancestors. I did too. Ghana is a developing country. That will mean a lot when you get there and see the unpaved and very bumpy roads and other things like no electricity for periods of time during the day (if generators are not available). The mosquitoes and malaria. Downtown Accra is very developed. There are many, many people who are unemployed. I believe it's the majority. Many hustle in the streets beside cars to make a living. You will definitely see this on every main street. People who have money can survive in Ghana or any other African country for that matter. Jobs are not there. I had many conversations with the Ghanaian people and learned a lot from them. It was a great visit. However, it is very different in many ways. It does feel great to see so many people with dark skin and know that the country is theirs. I have been to Nigeria as well. The same applies there.
      I encourage you to look at several videos that are not just from people who are on vacation because they are posting all of the tourist sites for friends and family to see how they are enjoying vacation. Of course that is only one side of Ghana. I'm glad you are going. I hope I didn't sound too negative. I am just trying to provide balance to people who live in a very developed infrastructure and economy like the US and have never been to a 3rd world/developing country. Good people and good food in Ghana.

    Many people are saying it is a rip off and a trap. First, this is a choice. So if you do not feel right about it, just stay were you are. We know we are not rich, but we r by far wealthy in several other dimensions. Real Wealth is not measured only in monetary terms. I know many conscious diasporeans in the 1000’s in Ghana and am happy to hear that they feel loved in Ghana. Am not surprised because Ghanaians are generally very welcoming, peaceful and loving. So to all my brethren and sistren in america hating on this policy, pls stay were you are. We r cool. If u decide to change ur mind later we are always ready to receive u. U r always part of us.

My father knew about Marcus Garvy back to Africa, my father spread word but feared for his life talking to our people in the Mississippi and further south. How can I be sure if or when you leave another president will put us out of Ghana. ? We need to be offered land, not apartments charging us $ 8,000. A years money up front and $ 800. American money a month. Your native Ghana people don't pay that. Our people in America are owners not renters. Don't get us mixed up with who you see in New York City paying ridiculous amount of money for rent. Im saying, I don't speak for all, you have to offer more than what you are offering. Gloria Shields listen here don’t go there demanding. Be humble cause the people will be humble. Land can’t just be given and it’s not owned by the government. Chiefs own the land and even Ghanaians buying land sometimes it’s a headache. First go an see hopefully you meet some people who are willing to sell land and make sure everything legit. The right to adobe law is not new and was there before this president. The former president welcomed 24 Caribbeans who all got citizenship. Only new thing this president is doing it making the visa process easier and promoting what was already in place. Easing the wait to get citizenship. If you want to live in Accra it’s more expensive. Living in Kumasi is cheaper but Accra is more convenient.

    So I’m a Surinamer.
    For my Black American friends the United States and Suriname have a shared history. My people like Haiti rebelled against slavery and on the 10th Oct 1760 the first peace treaty was signed with the Dutch after fighting for over 100 years. The Dutch prior to this treaty decided to keep Suriname at the treaty of Breda at 1667 instead of their small trading post New Amsterdam now known as New York. The US wouldn’t speak English had the Dutch decided not to keep their plantation state with the crazy Maroons that were rebelling and defeating them.
    The US owes Suriname and the my forefathers who rebelled it’s beginning due to these treaties and final peace.
    African Americans and the diaspora of those enslaved in the Americas who fought a hard fight for hundreds of years for freedom that paved the way for the US civil war cannot be forgotten.
    Ghana historically before never helped during those wars and struggles as they were the ones that took us from our beds tortured raped and killed women and children and then sold us like stock to Europeans.
    Africans that committed theses crimes and the Europeans that enforced slavery never knew that those they thought to help would be the best humans in the new world, the best at most and in battle could bring down their disgusting trade.
    Surinamers will never forget the chiefs ruling class of Africa and the Europeans for what they did.
    How can you forget seeing your women throw themselves off slave ships to protect themselves from being raped.
    As for Ghana I am not against the concept of return but the apology for me is a little to late we needed the apology when we were fighting Europeans with no weapons, African Americans needed the apology when they were fighting during the civil war not now.
    The Maroons in the diaspora will never forget our African and European enemies regardless if they apologise or not. 🇸🇷

      @@TheSageisBack They are not included. It is for African diasporans only. No different from Israels right of return; except for the fact that their invite is to populate stolen land.

    I don’t think all blacks should be able to go live there. I think they should help blacks find out what tribe they might be from ,then they can choose if they want to return to their own tribes if excepted.

    We are not Africans, why all of a sudden they want American Aboriginals to come to Africa. The American Colonization Society is hard at work trying to get us out of our ancestral land.. Love to be interviewed on your show

    • @ChiefKalinago
      @ChiefKalinago Před 5 lety +3

      @Ray of Lyte even that is a lie. The Gullah people are American Aboriginals. They told the slave story in reverse. This is a plot of thr American Colonization Society.

      @Ray of Lyte think u may need to step up on ur research. American Aboriginals were brought into Africa n lots of our culture was taken there. Eye am not here to do the back n forth with u. However, eye will not allow the colonizers to continue deceiving my people. We are already hime

    • @ChiefKalinago
      @ChiefKalinago Před 5 lety +1

      @Ray of Lyte never said it was. Eye know 95% of my people were already here. Peace n love. U be who say u are n allow us to be who our ancestors were.

      @Ray of Lyte eye van speak for 95% of my people, my ancestors gave me the authority to do so.. Onve again, focus on the colonizers and yiur recent problem, china taking over ur land. We'll deal with ours for now n we will not allow the the further genocide of my people.
