I like this song on two different levels. One is remembering the show itself and the other is remembering my childhood and lots of memories from that era.
I met Dan Haggerty. It was a tearful experience because I loved the movies and shows so much. Now I wanna meet Thom Pace. Hopefully I can. Would be a wish come true.
Brings back memories. My big brother used to tease me about liking this song so much when we were kids. Now I look back on this show w/ a different perspective. Back then (from a kids angle) it was just a cool show about a man who had a bear for a pet, and got to live in the wilderness. Now I see it more as a (likeable, even a bit corny)show that revealed a sincere message of the times. It showed just how much our post-Vietnam nation craved peace, and desired an inward look at itself.
This is the ending of the 1974 movie. Still a great song. I met Dan once and he was just as kind hearted as he was in the shows and movies. Such a great man. Wish I could just disappear like that but someone would find me, lol
Its funny somebody mentioned John Denver, when I was a teenager in the early 80's I thought this theme tune was by John Denver, their voices have a similar tone, and the lyric "take me home" always made me sing, "....country roads", as the next line. Cracking song, always brings back happy memories, and makes me proud to be sporting a beard.
Made me cry... imagine me.. A lil boy watching this in a holler in West Virginia with my great grandma and thinking about the endless possibilities of exploration... Take me home.... 😌
Great memories of watching this growing up in the 70s. Also loved the simple but very powerful theme song by Thom Pace. Stay strong and safe everyone and we'll get through 2021 together.
This song makes me cry ... maybe it's because I am trapped in a world of mental instability (I'm bipolar) and I am searching for my world where I can live "free in harmony" and peace :( I just know I can't listen to the words without really crying and having the most horrible pain in my heart.
Yes, I totally agree with you, it is a better version. This is the version I have on my iPod and it's the one I remember more because of the TV series.
+Gus Flannagan I like the extra line about "sending out a dying message" .....in the longer version! This version is not Dan Haggerty pictured here, evidently They filmed the movie Grizzly Adams with another character originally and scraped it and asked Dan to take over. The original intro has half the old guy with his face darkened panning into Dan because they only had 180,000 left in the budget the way Dan Explains it.
Hey you! Are you? I'm not. And I do! Yes I remember, like it was yesterday. How you remember the night it was on always amazes me! I wish we could go back....
Thank you so much for posting this!!! I love the Movie and TV version of this song where he pronounces it, "Maybeh." All of the other videos I've found have the studio version where he pronounces it, "Maybee." I know the latter is the proper pronunciation but I grew up listening to the song with the other. Thanks again!
I saw a comment saying you purchased Both Seasons for 23 dollars on Dvd...,,,,,That's great. Was not able to locate the comment down here on the board, so replying here.
This show started coming back on recently, and I'm noticing inconsistencies I missed as a kid. The bear cub was a black bear, and there was raccoons and foxes showing up during the day. Those last two don't need to be shown as something normal.
Bill Dandoff and Taffy Nivert wrote Country Roads, in collaboration with John Denver. It had nothing to do with Starland Vocal Band itself - the coincidence lies in the fact that Dandoff and Nivert were later member of Starland - just not at the time Country Roads was written. Country Roads was recorded in 1971 - Starland wasn't formed until 1976. So you are partly right - and John Denver can still keep his credibility for co-writing one hello of a great country ballad.
Can we digest what this TV show was really saying? We live in a World where a Man was falsely accused of a crime he didn't commit and went into hiding in the mountains...In those Mountains "All alone" he found his best friends and his Peace. ...At the end of the series his daughter comes to find him to let him know "they" found the true culprit of the crime and that he was free to return to society...His answer was "Why would I do that? ...
Taken down mostly since his death, maybe there is something in the works, Google the episodes if you can not dig up anything here I think some of them are still out there on computer!
I'm 52yrs and I loved this song since I was a kid in the 70s. 🏞🗻⛰🏕🌄
I like this song on two different levels. One is remembering the show itself and the other is remembering my childhood and lots of memories from that era.
Seconded.
I agree completely. You said exactly how I feel too.
Rest in peace Dan Haggerty xxxx "Maybe" one day we will find a cure for cancer.

A GREAT film. I miss the innocence !!!
I grew up with Dan. I grew up wanting to be like him. This programme touched my heart. Cant believe another legend gone to cancer.
simple and loving it may be , but it allways made me cry .
This is the ending of the 1974 movie. Still a great song. I met Dan once and he was just as kind hearted as he was in the shows and movies. Such a great man. Wish I could just disappear like that but someone would find me, lol
I envy you for having met him.

That's the one. Used to make me cry as a kid.
I watched this show growing up. I loved that theme music.
I turned back to my teenage years. We were more happy at that years. 😢❤️💔

Couldn't have said it better myself.
This song makes me miss my Dad so much. This was one of his favorite shows. I love you, Daddy.
Had the pleasure to speak with Thom Pace about 7 Years ago, told him he had the voice of a angel 👼 his song “Maybe” is a 💎 gem!
This was one of the most beautiful songs which I heard when I was little and which I loved although I did not understand English at all at that time.
Now I am 60 and this brings back memories …very sweet memories…. ❤😢
i remember this loved it lol
Thom Pace sings so Beautifully!
RIP Dan , I hear you can be free and live in harmony in the place you've gone.
I really enjoyed this song many years ago adn the show made me want to go into the CA mountains and learn how to live off of the land...
when I watched this as a kid I would sing along even though my sister and her friends would make fun of me.
This nostalgia made me cry. My mom loved this show

The most beautiful song
Use to watch this in re-runs in the late 70's on Sunday evenings. CBC (Canadian station) across the river from Canada. Good ol' times.
Wunderschönes Lied und toller Film.
Great memories of watching this growing up in the 70s. Also loved the simple but very powerful theme song by Thom Pace.
Stay strong and safe everyone and we'll get through 2021 together.
MY YEARS GROWING UP....THE REAL STUFF!! AWESOME UPLOAD
spitzenmäßig mega geil

I would like to tell you that I hope you find peace Roseanne...you are not alone.
R.I.P. Dan - AKA Grizzly Adams x
Although shorter, this version is so much better than the version released as a single.
Yes, I totally agree with you, it is a better version. This is the version I have on my iPod and it's the one I remember more because of the TV series.
+Gus Flannagan Absolutely. I have it on my iPhone, too..

I am feeling totally nostalgic right now (and almost in tears) :D
Goodbye Dan We will Miss You So Much.
Hey you! Are you? I'm not. And I do! Yes I remember, like it was yesterday. How you remember the night it was on always amazes me! I wish we could go back....
I never knew it was a movie ... I only knew it as a wonderful tv series on a Saturday morning here in the UK in the late 1970s
That bear was one my favorite actors of all time! Oh and the actor playing Grizzly Adams was good too... ;D
This is my favorite song
Very Nice :)
RIP

Yeah, the show was both lovable and insanely ridiculous and unrealistic at the same time.
If you don't like Grizzly Adams, git outta 'Merica!
This is the 1974 movie not the 1977 and or 1978 series. I love them all though.
I used to think David Gates (Bread) sang this.
(Sniff)

I believe John Denver had a Hand in writing Afternoon Delight by the Star Land Vocal Band......that's probably what he is referring to.

There shuld be a boxed-set of his shows.
+HarryHydro They are all here on youtube........

i always thought it was from john denver
It does sound close.
Is this from the series finale? Or just an episode where Adams has to go further into the wilderness?
Danoff sorry - not Dandoff
