I swear I always have this fear because my boss did that ALL THE TIME. I expected every time to be fired, but it turned out he just didn't want people down the hall hearing any smack being talked about them lol! Never got used to it though - every time I still got that jolt of adrenaline assuming that was gonna be it. Never happened though :)

I had 2 jobs and I got fired from one of them. Which didn't bother me at all, but I saw that I wasn't on the schedule and I asked what was going on and his response was. Why don't you go have a seat in the office? And I'll be with you in a couple minutes. I already knew what was happening. Luckily I already had another job And they paid me way better.
That's why you always close it from the outside so you can't hear him fire you and then it never really happened.
Haha this happened to me, my boss told me I was being made redundant after 19 years and then said are we still going for that pint after work. We did. We’re still friends.

Not necessarily. Open shops and the like are noisy and sometimes personal things are talked about with the boss. All kinds of reasons the door gets closed. All sorts of confidential things can get discussed. This is especially true with small businesses when you're not just talking with the boss but the owner. All my meetings with my boss (business owner) are closed door because I'm upper management and we discuss a LOT of confidential things.
