    This album is truly unlike anything else I've heard before. I've known this band ever since Max Payne 3, but I've never taken the time to actually go out and listen to the music from their albums.
    This album is way ahead of it's time in terms of sound. You'd swear it was made today. Almost like something you'd listen to distant into the future.

    The best HEALTH album. Probably the best album starter

    I can't concentrate for shit if I listen to stuff other people listen to to concentrate, but when I hear music that sounds like a violent brawl inside a recording studio I'm completely gone..
    I like this 'music'

    Just discovered this band, I love this album beginning to end. I'm going to go into the newer stuff with zero expectations other than knowing it will sound different.

    best album by health, hands down. their newer stuff is really cool, but this is their punkiest, rawest release ever. nothing comes close.

    I like this album and 'get color' more than their current efforts. I enjoyed their more noise rock oriented sound rather than the ominous synth/electro/industrial stuff they do now. but even in their newer songs there are some really good sounds it's just a shame most people haven't heard their earlier efforts before they did DEATH MAGIC. I guess for people who haven't heard anything beyond the releases that garnered them their current stature (HEALTH//DISCO, or the OST's they were involved in or did like Max Payne 3) this stuff seems more abrasive. But for people who appreciate noise rock this is definitely a treat.

      I feel you, although I really loved their Max Payne 3 score. Death Magic just felt so middle of the road, especially after waiting so many years for a follow up to Get Color - like I could always see them slowly shifting towards electropop and such, but the end result is really forgettable. This album still kicks the shit out of me every time I listen to it, they came out the gate running with a unique sound, vocal style, and super alienating guitar/bass/synth tone or whatever the fuck they used to get that sound - it's instantly recognisable as HEALTH.

    Thank you very much for posting this album... I was there when they debuted this album at 'The Smell' in LA and it was definitely bringing back the thrashing of everyone surrounding the band... that will forever live in me ❤

      Andrew Caldwell Melt Banana are pretty much the pioneers of what we know today as noisecore. Don’t get me wrong, there were plenty of noisy ass no wave bands before them but nobody was playing like Melt Banana 25 years ago.

    I never heard HEALTH in their earlier years until they I saw them performing some of the old songs in the concert. It amazes me actually. They kinda sound like Crystal Castles back in their first two albums, knowingly they did collabed at one point

    People like death magic more because need for speed brought them there and can't comprehend the chaos that is their early years.. it's sad when someone who calls them self a fan bashes on the older and calls it inferior cause all they know is the newer instead of respecting every path an artist the like takes.. but hey. to each his own right? the older albums are for a select niche of fans.. need for speed or newer fans they just can't tolerate chaos and more than likely follow every rule and do everything they're told ; D

      @terminalglimmer Před 7 lety +2

      I dunno man, I'm a huge fan of both their older and newer stuff. I'd say the newer stuff may appeal to a different audience, but I feel it's definitely a progression they've been building up to. I wish they did more stuff like this for real though, but I get the feeling it's going to come across like Men Today off of Death Magic.
      In any case, I do still come back to this and Get Color a lot.

    • @aarondorris7639
      @aarondorris7639 Před 6 lety +1

      Not true, i'v been a fan since Get Color and I think Death Magic is ther best release yet, and I love all there albums. They basically decided to go full goth star on death magic and that's exactly what I wanted. So I feel like they evolved very naturally.

      +Iain Clark Depends on your taste in music, a lot of older HEALTH fans don't like the direction the band took with Get Color and Death Magic but I wish they did more noise stuff like this instead of the EDM route, they're still a great band regardless

      Iain Clark man many people are like "they have to be like this from the beginning if they change they sell out or suck" not to point at you guys but HEALTH is experimental noise rock and more while doing crazy good scores for games and want to progress further, which artist doesnt want to? and taste is taste but no one needs to spit on their older work because they can't handle the bands' past, not specifically for HEALTH but for every band and artist
