      Shannon, I agree. It is a nightmare to keep it clean. You shouldn't have to spend so much time to keep this small oven clean. Its clear the interior does not handle grease well. I only had mine a week, took me a good 20 minutes to clean it, no thank you. It went straight back to QVC. If they make a newer model the interior should be non stick. I bought a Biochef airfry oven which is non stick and takes 2 minutes to clean after every use.

    Be aware that when doing the wipe-out right after using it, you need to pull out the crumb tray on the bottom! I didn't think about it and when I finally needed to pull that out to clean I found a bunch of grease had gotten underneath it and baked on. The edges of the bottom elements are pretty sharp too, so it gets hard to wipe around them without getting small cuts on your fingers.
    Thanks for the info to check the back for grease! I never even thought of it! Now if there was just a way to clean the actual fan blade under the grate no way to access it at all. Mine looks nasty after only a month.
    On a side note, mine is one of the ones where the letters were rubbing off of the power and start buttons. I called Ninja and they are sending me a whole new oven! Just $22.31 for shipping. It doesn't come with any of the accessories tho. The original one does seem to have gotten louder over time when the fan runs, so I'm hoping the new one doesn't have the same issue.

      Yeah, we’ve had ours for a yr. now .. I clean the trays a lot but the back & sides are ABSOLUTELY baked on dark brown.
      It says not to use anything except to take out all trays & put on toaster #7 (which is what I do my toast on anyway)
      You said your unit was dirty - it looks pretty much brand spanking new to me, cause I was concerned about using cleaning agents, esp. the Mr. Clean pads are so toxic.
      We have the earlier unit with screen in back - it LOOKS like it could come off but I wasn’t sure & didn’t see anything in the manual, mine’s probably stuck closed by now.
      Anyway .. do what feels comfortable & works.

I just got a one of these with the probe, and haven’t used it yet, but gonna return it due to all the reviews I’ve researched on how it’s a great pain to clean the interior of the oven including the pans that come with it. I got my oven for $230, but that much laborious time consumed cleaning ain’t worth it to me. I’d pay more for a product as this if it had very good nonstick features with longevity, along with real preheat and more consistent temps.

    Thanks very much for this. These machines are very cheap to manufacture and for the price they're typically sold at at retail, there's no reason the interior should not be self-cleaning or at the very least more durable and able to stand up to an oven cleaner like Easy Off without ruining the surface. The fan is equally flawed in design and cheaply constructed. For example, how is it possible not to have access to the actual fan blades!?!? Especially since they're an essential component of the air frying function! Inexcusable for a 250 toaster oven. Mine had an issue with the decals/lettering coming off the function buttons (a known issue on some of these ovens) and when I called customer service I was told that I would be sent new labeling but what I got was a rather pitiful sticker that runs between the buttons and which makes the oven look as cheap as it's manufactured. The Ninja brand represents an aggressive highly profit-driven and extremely profitable company and there's no denying how effective their marketing strategy is, but at a significant cost both in time and inconvenience (and therefore money) to their intended target market. This product could be a great, cost-saving and versatile alternative to a full-sized oven, but needs a thorough refresh in design to realize its full potential and increase brand loyalty over time.

You could also probably use a tooth brush and dawn and hot water. I wish they didn't make those so fragile or would make them where we can remove them to clean. The design itself didn't take into account for cleaning

  • @MaryGatlin-yz9bi

    Manufacturers put all kinds of warnings because they don’t want someone saying the product they said would clean it made a tiny scuff…or someone used it on the stainless exterior or worse on the handle with the buttons, the interior is metal, appears to be aluminum and that’s why some had discoloration with the baking soda method…basically if you decide to use something not recommended, you can’t blame the manufacturer for less than desirable results … but they aren’t going to send anyone to clean it for you. So you own it, use what you are comfortable with using.

    Can I use cooking bags to roast in the Ninja? It has been a life saver since I have been on oxygen I cannot use my gas range. But cleaning it has been a problem. I even tried cleaning while it was a little warm. Thanks for the tips. I will try today.

      Definitely can use roasting bags -they may inflate a bit but just put a pin hole to prevent this. Thanks Lena!

    Nice clean job. I'm working on how to keep the greasy mess from flying around. I made two racks of delicious chicken wings yesterday. I have to say it left a mess on the inside of the oven and glass. Now I'm trying to figure out what I can cover the grease expelling foods with to prevent the walls from getting greasy. Maybe I'll try covering next air fried food with my hole perforated aluminum pie pans..I have a ten inch and 9 inch. I hope it works otherwise I will just keep using my Ninja Grill.

      @sylviah1234 Před 3 lety

      Hi..me again. I have a question, It says not to put trays/included air fryer tray into the dishwasher. Way to much work to hand wash. Ninja said it will make them wear out quicker. Do you hand wash your grill and air fryer trays or go for the dishwasher. Another reason why I prefer the N Grill..it goes into the dishwasher.

    My oven is a nasty mess and I’m kinda POed if you read the manual for cleaning or what you cant use for cleaning. I’m ready to use oven off to clean this thing out thoroughly. Because of the cleaning NOT to do instructions, I don’t use the oven much. I’m ready to ditch this oven! My fan is a nasty mess! How do you clean the fan?
