  • Just my take on the 2013 Nissan CUBE. Overall I really like the car.
    Pros:
    1. keyless entry
    2. keyless start
    3. large back door
    4. reclining back seats
    5. no hump in the center or back seats
    6. the design (square shape)
    7. built-in GPS
    8. backup video camera
    9. CVT - continuously variable transmission
    10. the ride (smooth and handles good)
    Cons:
    1. limited trunk space
    2. Nissan suggests against luggage racks (because no support in the roof)
    3. Nissan suggests against cargo carriers (no place for a hitch)
    4. gas cap on the passenger side
    5. rear view mirror (kinda cheap feeling)
    6. some wind noise at higher speeds
    7. arm rest (knida cheap feeling)
    8. front windshield sprayers (straight line not a spray)
    9. CVT - continuously variable transmission
    10. no center console

Just FYI the fuel cap is on the passenger side for safety. I you ever run out of fuel on the side of the road and have to re-fuel on the spot, this lets you stand away from the traffic

I was trying to weigh the pros and cons to decide if I wanted a Kia Soul or a Nissan Cube as my first car. I went to the dealership and the Soul was just too worn and was missing the mirrors on the visor so I decided against it.
After watching this video; the noise that the cube makes kinda turned me away, but after test driving the cube; I bought it. Lol.
    Pros: -The speakers are awesome
-I love the cup holder on the left of the steering wheel
    -Rides like a dream
-fold down seats. I find the inside of the car to be very roomy.
-The seats are comfortable. They feel like memory foam, but I'm not sure what they're actually made of.
-Overall unique design- inside and out.
Cons: -Kind of loud on interstates, but not too bad. It's something that I got used to pretty quickly.
-Cross-winds when going about 70+ when passing big trucks, but they're like this with plenty of other cars.
*The pros outweigh the cons and I'd recommend this car.

now that I own a cube (partly because of this video), I need to give my 2¢.
I was very against the CVT when I was shopping for my cube, but I got a great deal so I ended up with one anyway. ..and I love it. So smooth, and the noise isn't really THAT bad. And as a city car, it's super smooth and nice to drive. Coming from a manual Fiat 500, this thing is like driving a luxury car.
I was glad to see that the back seats recline, but I was really happy to discover that they also move back and forth. You can add a good chunk of storage space by sliding it forward.
The Sat/Nav system is great! ..but for $19 a month (if you include traffic), it's kinda pricey. ..and the head unit isn't compatible with XM's 'A La Carte' package. That's too bad.
You didn't mention how comfortable the seats are. A friend of mine got in and said "It's like sitting on a couch". ..and it's true! These seats are super-comfy, and they have plenty of leg support, so I could easily take a long trip in the cube.
My only real complaint about this car is that the bluetooth isn't A2DP, so you can't stream music from your phone. Sure I can plug it in, but this is 2014 and A2DP should be standard. Also, my 120gb iPod is useless in this car because it takes forever just to scroll out of the "A" section. What if I wanted to listen to the Smiths? I'd be at my destination before I finished scrolling thru the artists list!
By the way, your video is one of the only updated cube videos on CZcams. Every review seems to be from 2009 or for the model S only. Thanks for the upload!

    PROS
    It's really fun!
LOVE the drink holder left of the steering wheel.
Like having the fill-up on the right side. That lane is always free.
Can fit 5 people in this car unlike ANY other this size or price.
    CONS
Sun visor does not cover side window safety issue.
Back door awkward to open when you have a shopping cart.
The ride is choppy at times, does not handle side winds well.
    Reflections in windows at night.
CVT: I got used to this by adapting my driving. It's the future.

Gas filler on the passenger side is common on German cars, and great for busy stations, where most people have the filler on the driver's side. To me, that is a positive, not a negative.

    • @ChinnuWoW
      @ChinnuWoW Před 8 lety +1

+Lwize Most gas stations have 2 ways to get in, so, having the gas cap on the right side doesn't change anything. It's just more convenient to have it on the left side. Even if there's only 1 way to get in the gas station, you can always go in reverse to a pump, if that's not such a big hassle for you.

I have the same car, It is awesome no problems at all 140 000 miles runs like new. I flush all the fluids, change all filters, changed all spark plugs and spark plug wires. Ceramic brake pads. Go to a great mechanic and have them do a 3 step fuel fuel injection cleaning service. Make sure they use BG products. It gets rid of all carbon build up The car roars now. Also use royal purple engine oil it is better then mobil 1 one oil. It drives like a race car now!!!! Also use Trico Titan wipers they work the best. ALso buy the royal purple oil filter and change serpentine belt every 80 000 miles to be safe.

Adam, Nice review but you left out a very important fact that may have turned your con into a pro. The whole back seat slides forward about 5-6 inches. The handle runs all along the lower front of the rear seat to slide back or forth. Pull it up to release. When we go on vacation (just the wife & I) I slide it all the way forward. You can still slide front seats all the back.

Kani, I should have explained it better I am sorry. The Key Fob you carry in your pocket/purse is recognized by the car in where it is so if your on the outside of the car within 2-3 feet you can open the door. If you are inside the car with the Key Fob the car knows and will not let you unlock the outside of the car. I hope that clears things up but if not let me know and I can do a video on how it works.

As a matter of fact it's quieter than all the regular automatics regardless of size of engine that I drove in my life. I believe it is the engine size that makes the cube noisy. I have test drove 2 cubes recently. That 1.8 L engine seems to need to work harder than a 2.5L in a nissan altima. It's going to be adjustment for me if my next car ends having a smaller engine lol!

Personally I'd suggest an automatic and that's probably because I have driven manual for the past 12 years in Austin, TX (BIG City). Don't know much about the Nissan manual so I can't really say one way or the other. I can say that after driving the automatic CVT for a month "I LOVE IT".
If a manual transmission is an option in your life I'd suggest doing more research! If you are only looking at manual because its cheaper I'd suggest NOT GOING THE CHEAP ROUTE! :-)
    Hop that somewhat helped!

CVT = 1 gear. The previous generation car was far better. Only problem - came with a 1.4 auto only. it looked better aswell.

Hey Adam, I want to buy Cube. I saw two in past few days. Did the test drive, great feeling smooth ride but have read few reviews of Cube owners had transmission broken. I need little confidence. Why transmission will break ? My Sentra 2006 transmission still good it has 111k now running great. And also one review says some CVT code what is code. Help me about Cube transmission. I really like to Cube.

    • @AdamWNelson
      @AdamWNelson  Před 5 lety

Hey Shomin, sorry I can't help out with that question. My CVT Transmission was working fine when we traded it in (we had a 3rd child and couldn't fit him in the Cube). Unfortionity I don't know anyone that even has a Cube. That's one of the reasons we loved it. It was unique. For the 3 years we had it we loved it and it worked great. We had driven it from TX to OH to CO to FL and never had issues.
