    I don't think he will be equalled. I couldn't see anyone coming along, and doing what he did. We certainly won't get anyone with that type of voice. It was great to see this type of music, acknowleged on a news bulletin.

    Recently I learned that Luke Kelly died many years ago and then that Ronnie Drew had also died. Too much in any one day! Ronnie and Luke were the essence of what it means to be Irish......what a great loss.

    Ireland to her credit has produced some brilliant talented musicians, renowned the world over but what the feck is that bono bobo?

  • @LedSledJoe
    @LedSledJoe Před 12 lety +10

    @tumadoireacht Couldn't agree more. Why the hell is Bono the unofficial spokes person for everything related to Ireland. To me he epitomizes the disintegration of real Irish folk music and it's cultural history.
    and U2 can go right to hell.

    I dispute your contention about Irish 'men' born outside the 'pale' - presumably meaning outside present day Dublin and Greater Dublin. If this were true it would be a dreadful accusation of prejudice to level on a high proportion of the Irish population. Happily it is simply not so.
    Roonie Drew is a sad loss to all Irish people - Dubliners, Corkonians Belfast folk, black and white.

    i realise that the comment was made two years ago and i have only giscovered this upload now but i have to respond to northolt and his claim that "like most irishmen etc" you're simply generalising and you have no right to do so, i's your personal opinion nothing else, the DUBS weren't even national they were INTERNATIONALISTS!

    He's irritating. He's become a typical Hollywood celeb, always jumping on the latest trendy cause that knows absolutely nothing about.
