She has a natural Dramatic Contralto which is extremely rare in female singers, BUT on top of that she has the most spectacular larynx, pharynx, nasal cavity and receptors. Then with all that she is able to naturally sing polyphonic overtones without even noticing she is doing it! Did I mention she is vocally, absolutely 100% unique and spectacular? This was a project on Russian TV showcasing orphans and disadvantaged children. The show is called "You Are Super". Two green lights means you go to the next round (Diana won in the next round with her cover of Human via sms vote from the TV audience). Diana was only 15 years old here. Now you must go to her official CZcams channel and find her dark mysterious cover of Elvis Pressley's Can't Help Falling In Love live on Russian Television. It's magical, spectacular, mesmerizing, operatic, cinematic....simply amazing. Plus the song builds into a spectacular operatic showcase of her upper register. it's fairly current as she was 18 at the time. Diana is currently still a teenager at 19 years old, living in Moscow attending The Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS). Enjoyed your video. We love her in Texas 🤠

Second, Diana is a True Contralto who just happens to be polyphonic as well.
Read her back story, from abuse and abandonment on the street, by her mother, with a broken collarbone at age 2/3 and mute. Rescued and adopted by a loving family, music was recommended as a way to bring her out of her shell. The rest is history.
Her voice also reminds me of Cher. She is remarkable. Her low range is her most comfortable according to her. It helps that she has such good control considering her age. Her version of "Human" is even better, in my opinion.
Full immersion in the song! And with what power and passion it is executed ! This unearthly voice can penetrate into the far corners of the soul! And this is at the age of 15! Only Diana can do that! Diana is a universe that creates unusual and beautiful worlds. Into which we plunge with every sound of her magical voice!

I don't really listen to Diana for her voice. It affects me, of course. But I am focused on her delivery of emotions. In this, I can't name anyone better in the world. If you want to hear some beautiful high notes from Diana, I would suggest her cover of "Take on Me".
An interesting subtopic is that Diana was growing up and had lost her ability to reach high notes. She worked very hard to regain them. And, in my opinion, made them even more beautiful.

Enjoyed your comments on her....the background is as extraordinary as the performer. At the age of three in the middle of Russia's far northern Winter she was abandoned, injured, at a bus stop where she was rescued and sent to an orphanage. At the age of 5 she was still traumatized and unable to speak properly. A massage therapist who visited the orphanage trying to help kids, was the first to recognize something special in this little girl, and eventually adopted her. Diana was sent for singing lessons because it was thought that this might help her learn to speak without impediment.
Only two years later she started singing in local theater, and in street plays and performances. And soon after was entered in a Russian TV music competition for disadvantaged children. By the age of 10 she was winning local competitions, singing on live TV shows, and her songs started showing up on CZcams. Two months ago, at the age of 18, her first performance during a new Russian television competition with several other renowned performers, has gone viral and has garnered hundreds of CZcams 'reaction' videos, and millions of viewers.

Very nice, but nothing beats the Chris Isaak version for the guitar playing, the refrain almost a yodel, same haunting atmospheric.
Surprising right? What an amazing voice. She's 15 here. If you want more of her, check out her cover of "Can't Help Falling in Love." She's 18 there, and her voice has matured a little more, but this might be my favorite. I always loved this song, and this take on it is haunting.

Dimash is amazing, but I absolutely adore KZ. She does all her own arrangements, had surgery on her larynx and almost gave up on singing. Love her. You should definitely check out both of these performances. Both are amazing, each in their own way. KZ's version of Rolling in the Deep on the Wish Bus is also amazing, but I chose the one on The Singer, because stage performance is a big part of her.

(I am not a professional but I have compiled information found on Diana's official website, in interviews and in reactions from singers and musicians)
Your astonishment is not exceptional! Diana is an unique contralto (dramatic contralto) her comfort range is C3-C6 but in constant evolution. Diana uses many vocal techniques rarely used in pop music (like overtones, yodel, and some from lyric chant....). The one that seems to amaze people the most is multitonal (polyphonic) voice. The root notes are enriched with powerful harmonics which can give the impression that there are several overlapping voices or an artificial effect which gives this result.
This technique is used in Slavic folk music, like Bulgarian vocal groups or artists like Pelageya (czcams.com/users/OlegSemyonov73videos), the Russian folk diva. I cannot tell you exactly how these artists achieve this result, I was just told that it is linked to the simultaneous use of the different resonators of the human body and that such a mastery of the voice and of the breath with such a fluidity requires years of work, Diana has been singing on stage and has been taking singing and performing arts lessons since the age of 6!
She has become famous in the broadcast "You're Great!" ("You are Super"), a song contest reserved for children who have had a difficult start in life. This is the case of Diana who was mistreated and ended up in an orphanage at 3 years old.
In her shows, Diana participates in the direction, direction and arrangements of her performances. She is a complete artist.
In addition, until the recent past her costumes were often designed and sewn by her mother and grandmother since she was 5.
