Wow, being Filipino American you think you know your Filipino food pretty well. I have Pangasinan and Ilocano roots, so I already know about the more “obscure” dishes. But this particular episode has kinda opened my eyes to a new scope in our cuisine. I’m headed to the motherland very soon and can’t wait to dive in!

Hi Erwan et al, was in Iloilo last March 2024, went to at least 3 of your featured eateries in this particular video, had an extraordinary yummy experiences at Breakthrough, Nora's and Beige. Had mango pizza in Guimaras, too. G'day from Aussieland 🇦🇺.
What an amazing video. So touching watching the artisanal sea salt lady. I love her! What do Filipinos think of Iloilo? This seems like a hidden secret? Clean city, green, beautifully restored heritage sites, not so crowded, intriguing cuisine! Are there beautiful beaches? Hmmm, need to stop by when I visit the Philippines!

Ilonggo dishes are underrated. Been living in cebu for 8yrs and took me 2 months to get accustomed to the flavor of their food. Iba ung timpla ng food nila, not in a bad way but just doesnt taste like how we all expect it to taste. I tried their most raved lechon and didnt get why its so hyped. Its delicious, but they dont use tanglad but instead, spring onions. Restaurants serves good food. The usual kind of taste we're all used to, but in small eatries ir carenderia, expect the taste to be a bit different or odd but i woulndt say its bad at all. Its just tastes differrent.
I love Ilonggo cuisine, one of the best. I've travel to different region but only Iloilo has the best, Maybe the food thier are more organic and the style of cooking has pass down true many generation

I have been around the world as an Ilonggo from Iloilo. Yet I always wanted to go back to my homeland , the City of Love of the Philippines . The past decade that I am back here, I have observed the changes and I have to say, Ilonggos are so flexible and adaptable . Despite the modernization happening around, we in the city of iloilo never stopped engaging with our culture and history. IN Iloilo, you can find tradition merging with modern lifestyle. We are so open to try new things and our palettes will always be looking forward to something new and evolving!

My family lived in Lapaz since the 1920's until now, there were a lot of batchoy makers according to my Lola, it's basically the go to food of drivers, market vendors, and almost everybody since it's soup based and easy to eat. It's basically a meat soup with noodles.
Ang galing ni Madam... salamat po talaga sa inyo..
