This book in particular has been a fantastic resource in my research before I interviewed Richard Noble. If you want to know more detail about Thrust 1 than we could cover in a 13 minute video, Richard tells the whole story here. Highly recommended!

Amazing that you did an interview with the legend himself bravo 👏
Consider myself very lucky!
What an extraordinary man Richard Noble is! A true leader, and an inspiration. Thank you for this terrific interview.
"There was a "woomf"
The rest is history.
Brilliant, what an absolute gentleman Richard Noble is a proper old school adventurer
Great interview, looking forward to the next installment 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Richard Noble would be one of the people that I would like to meet. What an amazing bloke, resourceful, incredibly smart, and very modest. Great interview.
I remember that demonstration run at Brands Hatch - I was there for whatever race meeting it was. It whistled its way around the track in full "Cathedral of speed" mode and I thought to myself "This guy must be nuts". And of course he was - nuts enough to bloody well carry on and do it!
He remains absolutely unstoppable!
I take my hat off to you and Richard for this interview. Hero and the best person to interview him.
It is such a shame Bloodhound has not been completed. When Britains who could sponsor this to completion, like Jim Ratcliffe, are putting money into F1 and not LSR is puzzling.
Absolutely agree, have voiced the same sentiments here on another of this channels videos...very frustrating! So close but so far.🤨
Could listen to Richard noble all day such an amazing life of experiences
I have just been binge watching about Richards latest venture Thrust WSH , then this pops up in my notifications.
Brilliant program I know it’s nothing to do with your video, but there’s something about Land speed cars. As you know, we are currently rebuilding the thousand horsepower Sunbeam they do get on your skin. Anyone reading this have a look come in and poke the car if you like we will never run and speed again, but we are planning to get it running good on Richerd. You need people in this world like this thank you once again, Michael
The best LSR channel on CZcams I have watched every video been here since you only had 1k subs keep up the amazing content thanks for showing us your hard work
Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for doing a video on Thrust 1. I've always wanted to know more about it. I've reached so much for decades but little is said of Thrust 1. To have Richard Noble himself telling the story is amazing.
Oh, excellent.Could listen to this man all day.
Amazing! Fantastic to hear more about the beginnings of the Thrust program. 😊
The story of Thrust 1 was only supposed to feature briefly in the Thrust 2 story I had planned (coming VERY soon), but Richard's account was so compelling I thought it warranted a video of it's own - I just couldn't bear to leave any of it out!
Yes it was best to do it separately. Thank you!!@@ScarfAndGoggles
Weirdly I joined the Airforce in 1976 and was at St.Athen when he ran thrust 1 . Later I was at RAF Binbrook when Richard had thrust 2 and he broke the record after having his car repaired there .
I remember seeing Thrust 1 at Santa Pod when Richard was testing before the wreck
Wow.Cant wait for part 2!..Im pretty sure he ran one of the thrusts at blackbush drag strip.I was very young, but im sure he was there with a thrust car. What a guy.A legend.Old school.Thankyou!.
You're welcome!
Can't wait for the next interview - Great work lad - You can see the pure joy in Richard telling the story..
He must have told those stories a thousand times, but his enthusiasm is infectious!
Thanks, what an interview. You have to admire Richard Noble the sort of guy who makes it happen, you could not do it nowadays.
Noble is most definitely a "can do" kind of guy - and now he's doing it all again with his new Water Speed project! @ThrustWSH
Looking forward to the Thrust 2 piece, I remember seeing it at Silverstone before the first attempt
What a video, an insight interview with the man himself 😮 Start of the story to come 👏
A great Briton and a very nice guy too.
I’ve always liked Richard Noble but after watching him in this video well what can you say that hasn’t been said before 👍🏻🏴
I’ve got Richard’s Land Rover from an earlier expedition of his in the early 70’s, when he and 5 others drove from London to Cape Town and back in it. He came to see it a few years ago.
Sir I absolutely love this channel, thank you.👏🏻👌🏻🏆❤️
Glad you enjoy it!
Splendid interview. Such a delight to listen to Richard Noble describing the first steps towards the record attempt.
Superb, looking forward to the next episode.
One of my very few remaining favourite human beings.
I love those backyard shop stories. A man, and an idea.
The British way
I fear we are losing this spirit forever
A truly great man, could listen to him all day, the man is a genuine hero of mien and great for you to meet him, all thanks tot he work you have put in, fair play.
Thanks! Thrust 2 story coming very soon...
Big score getting this interview..... Great Job
Brilliant interview. You don’t hear enough from these guys!
Thank you gentlemen...🙂👍
Your channel is always an inspiration. Just as I feel like giving up because of all the setbacks, you come up with another great story. My land speed project is going EXTREMELY slowly (now due to money). I have the engines, the transmission, some of the aluminum (aluminium) skin, and about one quarter the chrome moly I need to finish the chassis. You keep coming up with great content and I’ll keep working. Maybe someday I’ll be good enough ( memorable enough?) to be on your channel. Keep up the good work
Thank you very much for taking the time to comment! Noble achieved so much by working every problem until it was solved. Inspirational.
Superb. It's amazing how Richard Noble has so much excitable enthusiasm about the project. Thrust 2 is such an icon of British engineering and Ferring-do that it wil never fail to fascinate. I'm curious though about much further down the line regarding Bloodhound and if it will progress.
Astonishing! Bravo! The leap from Thrust 1 to 2 must rate as one of the largest in Engineering history. Wonderful to see Richard chatting away so enthusiastically about it. Just brilliant. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
5:45 this guy has an amazing sense of humor 👍🏻 the snow blower had a hard time going forward when the jets were running. That must have been some machine.
Insane contraption! Did the job though...
True history in the making, An extension to those lovely interviews made back in the 30s and 40s with the now famous Land speed record holders, many thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Really enjoyed this interview ...Richard Noble - the right stuff... a legend. I wish he would or could get re involved once again with the Bloodhound car which he originally initiated and then went bankrupt . A true shame. I believe if the Bloodhound project got the right financial backing that it would certainly be the next land speed record holder. Frustrating, so near and yet so far...My fantasy it seems to remain at the moment. The water speed record which Richard is now looking at to my mind is truly daunting and dare I say downright scary. So many sad ending attempts at the water speed record and I hope this will not be for Richard. For me it seems far more dangerous than the land speed record but I suppose its all relative.
great interesting interview
Thanks for making this.
Wow, great stuff you managed to get Richard Noble for an interview! Can't wait for the Thrust 2 video!!
Coming very soon!
Thanks for producing such a great video. I remember I got my parents to take me to see his try out of Thrust 1 at the RAF. I think there were a couple of hundred people there. Fantastic, i was probably about 8
Very cool!
What an insight. As much as I knew I about Thrust 2 I had no idea it’s predecessor was just a shed build by a single person with a dream and a bunch of useful contacts!
Noble is a force of nature!
I was born at RAF St Athan in 1975 - never knew that one of my all time heroes was taking his first steps into speed record territory in the same place in the same era! Fantastic interview, looking forward to future parts
Small world!
Thank you. That was an amazing interview, and I was so disappointed when it ended. I didn't want it to stop. You've got me for the next one, and I can't wait. Best wishes to you and all your viewers from Brisbane Queensland Australia 🇦🇺
Glad you enjoyed it! Thrust 2 story coming very soon!
Great stuff
Excellent, thank you! Looking forward to the next one. I understand that starting a jet for the first time feeling. I made one from an old turbocharger once and that first start is pretty nerve wracking but VERY satisfying when it spools up and self sustains for the first time.
Wow!
What a great chat, looking forward to part 2. It still makes be sad he stepped away from Bloodhound and it has not been run to it’s full potential. The number of deaths in pursuit of the WSR makes quite the undertaking.
It's a shame Bloodhound appears to be languishing. But it was hardly going quickly before Noble stepped away.
Thank you guys bloody brilliant.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Interesting interview. I’m looking forward to the next one.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have the "Thrust: The Remarkable Story of One Man's Quest for Speed" book and it's a great read. Plenty of anecdotes in it that aren't in this video, and vice versa.
Noble published a new memoir about Thrust 2 at the end of last year, with some stuff I hadn't heard before!
BIG thanks for this gem of a vid, I always wondered what happened to Thrust 1
You're welcome!
awesome
These are great!
Thank you!
As usual top notch content 👌, can't wait for the next episode on thrust 2!!
Coming very soon!
@@ScarfAndGoggles excellent, keep up the good work!!
Thank you!
Wonderful!!
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Wow what a great interview
Thanks - glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent video. Noble is the quintessential British give it a go man. Started with a hammer in a shed and ended up building a car that broke the sound barrier.
A true force of nature!
Bravo and thank you 👍
My pleasure!
Oh wow! All the other videos have just been preparation for this!
Richard Noble is a true inspiration, and a doer of things. He's one of those that you just assume has a knighthood (an MBE is insufficient!)
Thanks, can't wait for part 2 (and 3 or even 4)
Glad you enjoyed it! Thrust 2 story coming very soon...
Great! This was even more unexpected than the Spanish Inquisition but, what a delightful surprise!
No-one expects the Spanish Inquisition! Less of a surprise - Thrust 2 story coming very soon!
I very much am looking forward to your continued interview. I would love to hear what transpired with Bloodhound and where he's at today with his plans for the water speed record. Great work as always!
Thrust 2 story coming very soon. We didn't discuss Bloodhound or the new Water Speed project, but maybe one day...?
Gud vid 😍
Am I going mad? Is the interviewer also the guy who runs the Road and Race CZcams channel?
Yep, you’re going mad. That’s not me!
