Yes you’re right. This song was related to his illness, the drugs and the side effects, and his general declining health, had an effect on his mental state. This track was from their Innuendo album-The last one completed while Freddie was alive. As you can see, until the end the guys were close, and maintained a sense of humor. Truly a band of brothers. Love your reactions! Cheers from New York!
This was one of the last videos he did so he was very ill here. Hence all the makeup and black and white. But the look fits very well with the charcter he's doing 😁 Apparently the song is about his reaction to the medication he took. He hallucinated and stuff. I love that he was able to make fun of it and himself and even though he wasn't feeling well he could muster up all this energy. I adore this video. React to Headlong. That's another song and video from when he was ill but it's fun and very energetic.
I love the fact that Freddie was having such fun, and that he had such a great sense of humor. I've read that they had to put a bed backstage so Freddie could rest between takes. Although I love seeing him doing what he was born to do, it's still hard to watch how ill he was!
His clothes also hurt to wear so they were fur lined. Other fact....when he sang 1001 yellow dafs he insisted there were 1000 dafs around him with him holding the 1001...after all it said in the song!
Freddie wrote this song with his friend Peter Striker! Freddie wanted it to be funny!!! They had a lot of laughs while writing the lyrics! Please react to Queen - Delilah......this song is about his cat! Also from the last album with Freddie!!!
Legend has it that's Elton John in the gorilla suit. From what I've read it's true. They were good friends. I so admire Freddie's fortitude. How many people in his condition would write a humorous song about medication induced dementia as a way to cope? There's an interesting behind the scenes video about the making of this. Freddie's humor is on display there too.💙
@@karolyn8644 I don't for sure either. However, there's an even better (more serious) story that Elton wrote about Freddie in his book. Don't know if you've seen this video, but here's a link in case you haven't: czcams.com/video/mWLGf6ow0XY/video.html It's about 5 min. in before it gets to Elton, about 9 min. in before it gets to his touching story about Freddie. I've also seen a video where Elton briefly tells it, but the quotes from his book in this video give a bit more detail. It just confirms what a kind & generous person Freddie was to everyone he cared about.
Even though I know the context in which Freddy is singing this song, I choose to *feel* it as a whimsical lark rather than a disheartening description of his mental health. From the first time I heard it, I have always gotten a strong Alice In Wonderland/Mad Hatter vibe from it, so yeah, VERY different than their usual bombastic fare. I adore the fact that he had it in him to smile and goof about with child-like absurdity as the end approached. I think I'm a banana treeeeee! I can relate Freddy...so much :-P
This definitely different. First of all you can see the witty and mischievious side of Freddie and secondly they shot it in black and white trying to hide how ill Freddie really was at this point. He only made one more video "These Are The Days Of Our Lives" also shot in black and white and with heavy make-up as well. The song is great, he and a friend of his were up all night trying to find as much ways to describe madness howling with laughter. He made fun of the fact how the medications affected him. Given the circumstances I always find it very remarkable and brave how he dealt with his illnes and death. I have so much respect for this man. During the Making-of of the video you can see how determined he still was to give the best , even though he could barely walk and stand, was weak and so thin that he had to wear double layer of clothes to disguise the fact, as well as keeping him warm, because he would always feel the cold. You can also see how he directs his band-mates, keep shooting scenes over and over again until the perfectionist in him was satisfied. Add to that the fact that during breaks he took care of the penguins, giving them water and worrying if they were all right makes it impossible to not love the man and admire him.
Thanks for this reaction. You only can have respect for Freddie and the band, they help him carrying on and even lied to everyone in respect for him. Queen was the best and most diverse band ever. If you listen to you take my breath away to stone cold crazy to my melancholy blue to death on two legs, march of the black queen, the prophets song, the millionnaire waltz to innuendo you will be amazed. Keep doing queen songs, I am addicted.
@@claude-emiliecloutier8186 Oh, thank you very much! Yes, I love and respect Freddie very much. I've been a fan for over 40 years now, I grew up with Queen and I was 22 when he died. I've always admired his voice, his stage presence, the entertainer he was, his funny side, the way he was able to convey emotions and make people happy, it was just mesmerizing to watch him. A brilliant musician. He made a great impact on my life and I was devastated when he died, and I still miss him. The way he dealt with his illness and subsequent death is simply amazing. To have this kind of courage and strength is inspiring and deserves respect. But then again all of that as well as determination and passion made him to the person and legend he was/is. And he still continues to inspire and influence new generations. Simply amazing. A truly unique person , one of a kind and never to replace.
It makes it super impossible, how can anyone not love this man🤷🏾♀️ the more and more i hear about him and his story i am shocked, if he were still alive i would have loved to meet him. So talented and caring but yet so brave and strong, to go through what he went through and still br able to laugh about it or laugh it off is remarkable🙂
I know you did the Queen reaction a year ago but can I suggest one?" Too Much Love Will Kill You" was released in 1995 four years after his death on the Made in Heaven album.
Hi . It's me again. While reacting to legendary singers and bands can you react to the new track of great underrated band The Waterboys - Where The Action Is? It's kind of cover of old soul track by Robert Parker with the title but new lyrics.Mike Scott changed it into a brilliant rock and roll song with words like " love isn't words honey love is action so let's go baby where the action is!" It has hammond organs exchanging with crazy violins and excellent backing vocals from two young tallented girls. Gives me so much energy.
This video I cry and laf with, moust crying. Freddie singing about the medisin he was taking, and that he feeling he was going Sligtly mad. This video was made in february -91, so he was very sick, he was so thin, his dresser dress him with much clouth of cassmire and silk, his skin was so tuchy so he couldent have ordinary clouth on. And she dress him with much of this clouth for he was constanly freezing. And the smoking at the top, when they schut the video the was so much ligth in the room, so he become very hot with all that clouth, after they had made the video he was so exsosted I dont think he could stand at his feet. And when he was sitting on his knees beeside the sofa he get a lot of pain in his body. This I have read some place, mg I have read so much about Freddie and Queen over the year, never remember where I read things. But mg all aunerd to poor Freddie. And the people around him. The last video This was the days of our life was made 05.30.91 🥺👑💕♾
You would enjoy "The making of..." video for this song, where Freddie says, "Roger, what did you do?"

I agree. "Headlong" is such an infectious song. Once I get it in my head it stays there a while, but happily so.
Hoop ditty ditty. Hoop ditty do.💙
Really? What a great man🤗
It pretty much is a song about Freddie going nuts as his time approached

I read that the story about Elton John being the guy in the gorilla suit is not true, but that it was one of the road crew. I don't know.

@@karolyn8644 if you watch the behind the scenes video, it is a member of the road crew, then Brian May.
Yes, Freddie penned it about his illness and how he was feeling more and more each day. 💐💔
Awesome song! Side fact, one of Brian May's favorite animals is penguins. He must have had a total blast!
@@l.c.1816 Yeah! Even today, they still look awesome! I love it!
Ok i see, for real he must have😉
Really? I like clogs too🤗
that was another cool song and me i think is about his feeling about his illness
You should watch the behind the scenes to I'm going slightly mad it's amazing
Can you send me the link as i have seen a few on youtube🙂

Another of my favourite songs.... I guess Freddie in general was pretty eccentric! Try 'The Invisible Man' next!
