    What a fascinating segment on lightning rods for the trees. It makes complete sense to do this, yet I'd never thought about it. I really liked how you explained it start to finish. And I'd never heard the history of why you bought the farm or how it came by it's name. I enjoy your videos because they give me new information of all sorts.

    Love you P Allen Smith. Thanks for the sweet potato pie ! Yummy. Id like to mix sweet potato and pumpkin together. Thanks for your gardening tips. I want to do this but a family is allergic to flowers. Is it true for bulb flowers would brighten the place up. Its not my house. One day i would love to come for a visit.

    What happens to the pansies when the tulips bloom. Do you have to remove them?

    • @PAllenSmith
      @PAllenSmith  Před 3 lety +5

      Nope! They just grow right up through them. In fact, the pansies will typically still hold strong long after the Tulips are done. Thanks for watching!

    What a spectacular video! Packed full of great ideas, thank you!! I planted bulbs in containers and put them in my shed for the winter hoping the containers don't crack. Some cement and resin containers. I live in CT, zone 5. My shed is not insulated, I have saucers underneath all the containers so I can occasionally water them . Is this okay?? You mentioned something about the containers possibly cracking?.

    Hi Allen. I have a home in the woods in WV and it's very wet there all the time. I'd like to plant tulips and daffodils but will I have to dig them up? I'm afraid they will for because we get a lot of rain.

    • @PAllenSmith
      @PAllenSmith  Před 3 lety

      You definitely don’t want them in sitting water. They will rot!

  • @lyubay.3870

    Hi Alen and thank you for another inspirational video. Have a question for you. Do I need to water tulip bulbs in containers during the winter months? Tried the container lasagna recipe bulbs planting a couple of years ago and it was a complete failure. Out of 100 bulbs, only three bloomed the rest rotted. I do not know if it was due to too much rain or too cold for bulbs being in terracotta pots? I garden in zone 7A and we have occasional rains during winter. Thanks again.

    • @PAllenSmith
      @PAllenSmith  Před 3 lety +1

      Occasional rain or melting snow is typically fine for them. But they don’t handle soggy well. Typically if they’re rotting they’re getting to wet. And a combination of freezing temps along with it can spell disaster. I do hope you try again. One tip is if you plant in a container remove the saucer (which goes against my own rules of containers) but this way it will drain. You really shouldn’t need to water them during the winter much unless it’s extremely dry. Then do it sparingly. (Like once a month) Good luck! 💚

    Can I still plant pansies over the tulips if I need to use the chicken wire to protect them from critters?

    I like the gardening information especially about the bulbs. But his use of soybeans leaves me wondering if he is promoting soybean agriculture which is not all that healthy. I would never use soy milk. He needs to promote dairy farmers of all kinds.
