  • @Mojohjohjoh
    @Mojohjohjoh Pƙed rokem +1855

    I don't think the number of times someone goes to Disney should be the final thing that decides who's the biggest fan. The girl that went 5000 times was lucky to live nearby and have parents with money. I have a friend who is a massive fan and she goes as much as she can, but that's *only* 1-2 times a year because she lives in England. Should that really discount how much of a fan she is?

    • @kareemalmond
      @kareemalmond Pƙed rokem +94

      nah i thought counting the visits had a more interesting result. it’s difficult to measure how much of a fan someone is. you can try trivia but there’s still flaws. i had a friend who worked at a disney museum and knows everything about disneys past and present but that doesn’t necessarily make them a fan; it’s just their job

    I don’t understand the whole “scared of Disney adults” or “mental disorder” thing. I don’t love Disney myself, but it’s just something they love, are passionate about, and find happiness in. I think it’s lovely to see people have something they can find joy and comfort in, it’s very odd to find that “cringe.” So many people find escape in different things, video games, art, writing, reading, a show, sports, etc. Why is it any different?

    I think a reason people can have a bad reaction to people who are so into Disney as adults has more to do with the corporate aspect of Disney and less to do with the childish aspect. Most people I know in their late 20s or 30s have no issue with *liking* disney movies and music. It's when the merchandise becomes an enormous part of your personality and the only place you travel to is a theme park that you've been to dozens or (apparently) thousands of time before that it starts to give me the ick, mostly because it feels like your personality has become so wrapped up in what is ultimately a carefully calculated corporate product. I feel that same way about people who are this into anime, video games, fashion brands (think hype beasts), pop stars, whatever. The feeling that you have utterly swallowed the marketing fills me with discomfort, even if what you're doing is harmless.

      I grew up with Disney ever since I came out of the womb. My favorite movie was the brave little toaster and Bambi. Even watched power rangers on Disney. We couldn’t afford to go, the drive was like 14 hours, no money. First time I went was during high school grad with my now wife. Ever since, we have been hooked and go as much as we can. It’s just nostalgia and trying to live our childhood as an adult.

Ironically Aladdin is my favorite and the little mermaid is further down but I do relate it to my life of having ur voice taken away by control and fighting negativity to get it back (in my case abuse and controlling parents). I like other “childish” things lol. We can’t deny we all wish we were kids again in the aspect of spirit

    I consider myself a Disney adult, but I just can’t afford to visit the parks as much as I would like. I wish there was a better way to rank the “real” truest Disney fan other than monetary (people who have access to the parks that regularly are extremely privileged). I used to live in California and I only went to Disney once as a child (because my own parents couldn’t afford to take us, my aunts and uncle pitched in to take me and my sister). Then I went twice when I was a struggling college student putting myself though school. After college, I had to move away because the cost of living in California was so high, someone like me (who graduated college but still didn’t have any family support to do an unpaid internship to secure a high paid career in San Francisco). I’d be at the bottom since I’ve “only” visited Disneyland and/or Disney World 5 times (5 trips, I’d say it was about 30 days in the parks) in my life, but I love Disney so much my dream job is to work for them someday. The girl who was ranked the highest was ranked low on appearance and group rankings, so clearly she isn’t as obsessed with Disney as much as she was brought up near the parks and whole family were Disney fans, so she got to practically grow up in the parks. No hate towards her, but I don’t think that privilege makes her any “more” of a Disney adult than the others who genuinely love everything about Disney. I think the group ranking makes a lot more sense as far as who is the “most” Disney fan.

    • @milirodriguez8493

      I completely agree with you. I consider myself a Disney adult. I love watching the shows, movies, youtube videos about the food and rides, Disney tiktok,etc, and own a little bit of merch, BUT I absolutely agree with you. I would feel a little bit out of the line if I was there. NOTHING against them. They have such an amazing vibe. But the idea that you are ranked higher because youve been more times, been to other parks around the world, have more merch, shouldnt onyake you be ranked higher or the BIGGEST Disney fan. Dont get me wrong, I know they earn their buck to make it happen and I am so so happy they can to make that dream come true ✚ but not all of us can afford to go often or buy the merch sometimes(again nothing to do with them). I would just feel that maybe I would be ranked low because of that. However, we know that we are still real fans even if we havent gone often or have spend thousands of dollars on merch.
      In my whole lifetime, ive only been there like 6 times and I do feel lucky/blessed the chance that I did, but being ranked low because of the times gone, I wouldnt considered it to be a "real" fan. I mean when I heard 34, I was in shock and STILL be ranked low!

Also, maybe it’s just me, but I definitely don’t think it’s fair to judge the level of Disney fandom by this.
