- RIP Baby Ape 🪦 Was testing new Motors in the evening and then this happened.. :(
I just upgraded Motors to 1404 4600kV from TMotor and this was the 3rd flight. Guess the motor got stuck in the grass on the 15A AiO couldn't handle it.. Getting a 20A+ AiO or small 35A Stack now :/ Fuuuuuuuck me :D
TinyHawk 2 ReBuild is dead.
Babye Ape is dead.
TinyWhoop and 5 Inch still fly tho..for now :D
My Stuff:
(analog) Skyzone Sky03O OLED Goggles
RadioMaster TX12 Mk1 + BetaFPV ELRS 2.4G
Runcam Thumb Pro v2
(Yeah I know, there is a black Spot. The Lens is broken ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )
GoPro Hero 10
2.5" Setup: (it's broken right now.. 1 ESC on the AiO is gone)
Base was a TinyHawk 2 Freestyle. Basically just the TH1103 left in the build.
+Microheli Tinhyhawk 2 Freestyle conversion frame
+DarwinFPV 15A AiO
+TBS Unify Pro 5G8 HV - Race 2 800mW VTX + Pigtail Antenna for now

That freestyle was fire for real
It was that last damn trippy spin! Does it every time....
Hello "Nupid"! Thank you for showing us such a wonderful video! I feel so happy! I'm looking forward to your next work! Have a nice day!
Why do you look like a bot
damn 😄
exactly what was wonderful about somebody losing more money on cheap FPV junk?
holy shit good thing it wasnt too far
When the price is too good there is always a catch!!!!
This was upgraded btw with no precautions
Fuuu...
R.I.P. little Ape...
Have you experienced issues with that one esc? Like the motor don’t start or something?
Rip 😥
Ooo dam
rip
I was in the same situation, but my esc burnt in the AIR :D
High kv 1404's use a lot of juice, even the lower kv versions use a lot of juice. If you are looking for motor upgrades for a Baby Ape, HM 1204 6500kv would be a better choice. 8A per motor @ 100% on GF 3025 and a max of 800g of thrust on 3S.
i wanted to get that one, but at the last moment i switched to the crux35 because i heard darwinfpv is cheaping out on quality to get the price low
Ouch! That sucks! Did anything else get burnt other than the ESC? Hopefully it's still fixable!
I think just the ESC is done for, rest should be fine. I'll get a new AiO or small stack even and it should be up again in no time :D
@@Nupid_Stoob That's nice to hear! Best of luck, make sure to get a higher amp rating this time 😁
What do you use to put a camera on the drone?
Gopro mount???
Yo i have a question. How many days did you have the drone until the esc burned?
Yo I have an answer :D
11 months, so almost a full year. Doesn't feel that long tho.. Crazy how time flies, when you fly sometimes ^^
My tmotor 1404 3800 kv can pull 45amps on a punch out, im running a mamba 128k 40 amp esc, i think even a 20 amp will fry, always go above the stall torque dude, you probably know but in your osd end statistics put amps drawn, so you can check how much your motor pulls
sorry for your loss, its great that you caught the moment on csmera (dvr)
Thanks #RC_ADDICT #rcaddict
The TMotor 1404 4600 kv pulls around 20A on 4S under load. Thought I'd be in the clear with 2S - 3S. And everything worked fine untill the crash haha
Well you live, you crash, you solder, you learn haha
Got a 35A JHEMCU AiO now in it and it flies again. But you can feel how beat up that baby is now.. ^^
Mine didn’t even get to take off before it burned up
It's not so bad, it burned down in my apartment during the first arming
You mention in the description getting stuck in the grass, how did that lead to the fire? I'm confused because it says you're disarmed
I disarmed because I crashed. When I tried to re-arm it it caught fire.
What happened is that when the motor got stuck the Flight Controller expected the Motor to spin and when it didn't it tried to still spin it by giving it more power.
These Motors were "out of spec" for that AiO Board. Too power Hungry.
They wanted the power from the LiPo. LiPo said yes, ESC said no -> Fire :D
Did you use a capacitor? It might help.
A small 25V / 120uF one that comes pre soldered on these AiO's
But it was definitely the motors. Peak current was more than the 15A ESC could handle.. ^^
I ordered a 40A AiO from JHEMCU to replace it with. It has a ICM42688P Gyro, which sucks, but it was within specs and budget ^^
@@Nupid_Stooby does the icm 4688p gyro suck?
Its used in higher end cube autopilot FCs
Based on what i saw on video you have other components on top of your fc i experience it when my RX slip on top of the fc oh boi flames on the battery and fc lol
Thats stock part or any upgrade ?
Stock AiO (15A AiO from DarwinFPV) but upgraded motors to 1404 4600kV
Glad I returned this pos pnp kit…
Got a crux35 elrs v2 instead.
"Glad I returned my mustang, I got a jeep wrangler"
What's great is this happens all the time and we keep blaming ourselves and not the cheap stuff being made in china that is never built to last.
it's not your fault but T-motor or esc's fault for not being designed to hold up to NORMAL FPV stuff.
Thank people like JB for pushing cheap stuff that should have never been made for FPV...as they don't last long at all and we have to go back buying new stuff all the time to fix things that broke because they were made cheap for people like us.
FPV is such a ripoff these days. Everything gets more expensive but we are still left with products that break, catch fire or loose everything just because they can't make quality stuff!
So yeah sorry for your loss, but this is FPV and FPV has screwed us over and people leave for that very reason alone!
thanks for the post...now I know never to trust Tmotor and buy from them :)
oh and speedybee is trash...if you want to quit the hobby and spend money on junk that is either DOA or stops working half way through a nice flight...well speedybee is your one stop shop for all your FPV horror stories :) lol just had to get that in here....happy flying! or at least that's what I was told we should think
Your not alone, I did the same thing.
Me too😂
Hello, have you drilled your frame to fit new motors? Holes in arms are for 1.5 mm screws and new t-motors are 2 mm. Thank You.
Hey! Yes I drilled them out to even slightly bigger then 2mm because the center of the holes would not quit line up with holes in the motor.
Also the hole in the middle needed to be enlarged too a bit because the bottom part of the motor shaft would get stuck otherwise creating resistance when spinning the motor.
I have broken a few arms already because the carbon at those points was too thin.
I will probably change frames soon (to a Five33 TinyTrainer maybe)
Hey I wanted to buy the darwinfpv drones because theyre really cheap, is this a common occurence?
For the Bind and Fly? No, not really. Before I tinkered with bigger motors I was flying this quad with only some minor mods here and there for like half a year and put it to a beating as you can see from other Videos over time.
But the Quads you get from Darwin are at least pretty okay, even kinda decent if you consider the price. If you plan to buy more, better, bigger, faster, smaller, louder quads in the future anyway...go get it! But if you want to have one daily driver to fly then spend a bit more and get something more reliable and durable or build something yourself ;D

Always learn to disarm when you know its coming down
I did. Re-arming is what it made it go up in flames
@@Nupid_Stoob oooof that why i use horizon mode or angle when cruising because it wont let you arm unless its flip correct
@@Nupid_Stoob but i did see you use jhemcu now does it work with stock motor?
Bad managment of throttle
its called freestyle
