Excellent video, very useful, we really wonder why Bose uses plastic cogs when we see the price of their machines... especially for strategic operating locations......then I also wonder why you haven't put a link where you can find the engine ?

Thank you. Tonight I realized my cds were stuck inside for years. In one search and your 2 videos including the new one blew my mind. I don't know if the motor and gear are the problem but please let me know how to buy one from you. Thank you!!!❤
Or send it to you...the display is shot and motor makes no sound but the radio and the speakers routed from television works great still. I want to rescue the cds but also repair the unit and the display. Standing by!
I am not doing repairs at the moment as I have weighty design contract. You should be able to hear the motor whirring. the display is an easy and very cheap fix - just have a look at the other videos regarding the display. Time to get soldering!!!

Well done, im sure there will be more cd units on your bench, the brass gear is spot on.
Did you lube the gear or didnt it need lube.
The old cheese bose i fixed for a bloke down the road works fine now, the deck switch was o.c but i dug into my box of crud and there was an identical switch (It only sat in the box for 20 years) :-D
Oh, I lubed her up with Blue lithium. I designed mechanical document readers with Acteal gears and I found that the paper dust used to stick and gum it up. Then I read that for light load no lube is required. However, Gentleman use lube on every conceivable occasion..
@@razenby i wonder if mollygrease would be bad for Acetal.

I have a problem with my system; How can I check if the motor is the problem or that it is not receiving enough or not energy at all. The gear doesnt move and the motor is not working (not even making the sound).
BTW: I am not an expert, in fact, Im just learning how to do this things.

Hmm, tricky. Is something stuck on the mechanism.. Can you turn the gear by hand and move the mechanism ?

This is a classic case of analog not working in harmony with digital, they just dont belong together.
If you really believe that then best not travel go in a modern car, bus, plane or train. ..... I gethe willies every time I go on a cable car... very uneasy feeling...
@@razenby Lol, i meant things like DAT and DCC recorders, on cd players its always something mechanical that goes wrong first
@@Synthematix Yes, especially those with old style polyurethane drive belts that turn to goo.... Have they solved that problem or are the new belts the just as bad?

@@Synthematix Acetal is the material of choice for plastic gears - it has good,stable dimensional accuracy and is has excellent wear characteristics..
