I have an R7. Installed the new 2.08 installer. Connected the R7, clicked update, took less then a minute. 'User Setting' showed up after update, selected it and was able to back it up my previous settings and play around on the computer to change the settings and upload to the R7. Really glad they allow us to change it from the computer, going through the settings every update was a pain.
The latest R-7 update, firmware date 05/26/23, has improved the auto lockouts 1000%. I made the update. Did a factory reset as well as deleted all current lockouts and when the detector reacquired the first few lockout locations, it is yet to make a sound after locking them out. Impressive.

Thanks for the comments on 150 international also. I had a feeling you'd like that. Can't wait to see some more testing results. I'm also really keen to see how 150 int does against the spectre especially when compared to e.g. US 143 and/or the R8 / R4.

Awesome I can now save my personal settings on my R7 after the update and reset I can just reload my personal settings back onto the radar detector so much easier.

Yeah very cool. Probably won’t be for a while though since it’s a super busy time of the year and I still need to do Spectre testing first.
Two setup questions: Can you make Quiet Ride silence Ka alerts as well so I can be dead silent below 30MPH? Are you able to set the threat level at which the detector will sound the audio alert so I don't have to constantly silence the phantom 1 bar alerts? If you can't do these things then they are features Uniden should add as they seem logical.
Does it detect GA dragoneye laser?? and thank you uniden for putting hte menu editing in the FW update tool/ that was super helpful
1:26 very welcome feature. Have been annoyed from false K bogeys for a while on my R7. Such a simple solution would be if the damn bogey tone would respect the K band auto-mute setting. Nothing more annoying than a bogey going off without a chirp since the speed is below K threshold, but I'll take this implementation too.
I’m probably gonna opt for the R8 currently have an R3 is there any new updates for the R3?
Is there a update for the R7 to switch between hwy and city automatically or do I have to buy a R8 to get this feature?
After downloading update in the new update tool do you stil need to do a factory reset like before?
Have you noticed incorrect directional arrows on KA bands. Several times, I have seen the source of the alert in front of me, but the R7 signals it is either behind me or next to me.

I want to update but I don't know how and afraid of messing the unit up
Updated yesterday, and now I have some weird mute button constantly being pushed by itself. I’ll get a notification, and it’ll mute instantly, unmute and keep going in a cycle till there’s no more threat. Never had any issues prior to the update.
I bought my r7 about a month ago. The box said it is 50% faster, the r8 box said it is 50% faster, than what? There was no update for it and the version is142.147.120 FB version 22/01/05. Was there a change in the r7? Thanks. So I tried to update and the compressed file say empty?

Would there be any future tests on the R7? Mine kinda ramps up when there's a instant on K and KA ban. recently also did the recent 1.44 firmware update

I just updated to FW 1.43 on my R7. Does the GPS database automatically get updated?
Any info on why I'm having constant GPS Error since update? I've read voltage issue but mine sits at 13.8 steady.

I updated my R4 even though it said for US only, but I did buy my R4 off Amazon because NZ prices are a rip off.

Agreed. I only have one R7 though and am super busy this week. At this point I’m just glad I was able to get at least one of the videos out, haha.

Thank you for the videos though, it's due to your recommendation that I purchased an R7 when they came out to replace my trusty Escort Passport 8500 X50 after deciding to get back into the radar detector game. Have since also got an R3 and been super happy with both!
Random question; how do you remove/delete a false Ka band signal (ie: a speed sign)...i recall holding the mute button marks it or something but it seems like its not doing the trick so i'm assuming it changed with one of the updates
you double tapped the mute button, you should be able to cancel that lockout by pressing it again next time you pass it
@@sausagedog52 thats to remove the lockout aka mark? what if i want it marked so its muted next time i pass the speed sign?
The double mute button works on K band and adds to the mute memory, it doesn't work with KA band...
Bought mine from bestbuy last yr, stuck on firmware 143.1023.119, can’t seem to update to 143.147.121. Any idea why my DSP is stuck on 1023 and gps stuck on 119?? What is dsp?
I don't really care about auto doors and stuff like that because I have the red line that does it all the time. With that being said, what do you think about the uniden protector dfr1 ?

Yikes... K band was already pretty weak on the R7 (Love the unit don't get me wrong)
Hey bud, trying to install the new software tool and it says I need an nft file. What the the heck is that about?
how do you get the R7 to show multiple bands being detected; mine just shows the speed and that part never changes.

Doesn't the firmware have the Database included within it?
Yes, however with 1.43 it includes a database from Jan 2022. The most recent available is Oct 2022.
Why doesn't the r7 not have auto power off after hour?

R7 i know is but maybe if you're R7 is super new it doesn't have an update. Check the version, if it's not 143 it needs an update

While it’s technically possible, it is extremely rare and not something you want to rely on by any means.

“Model not found” is the message I continue to get. After some investigation it’s apparently a driver issue. In Device Manager the Silicone Labs CP210x USB to UART bridge states” Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39). Tried to update the driver with No success! Very frustrating!! I know I’m not the only one dealing with this. If anyone has a work around or has figured this issue out please post. Thanks

Firmware version or GPS database version? I’m not aware of a new firmware released in the past few weeks.
The site is back and it’s just a GPS database update for new red light cameras, not a firmware update.
This saved me when I got hit with laser.

So I run a Mac (new M1 MacBook Pro).. downloaded the latest software (2.08) from Uniden... IT WILL NOT recognize my R7... I contacted Uniden and their answer was to get access to a PC.... terrible customer service.. I tried, two different USB cables, one with a Dongle and one that's 2.0 to 3.0 ... I don't know what else to do.
I'm not surprised that they don't have an M1/ARM-compatible driver for the communication interface. Attowave couldn't even figure out how to sign the executables, making you go through that whole control panel security procedure.
@@straightpipediesel for what it’s worth, I figured it out, the latest macOS has something that won’t allow the extension to install, unless you hit the “allow“ button in the system settings under security.
Having the same issue, through the windows program. It’s a driver issue, but as of now, I still have not found a work around or able to update the driver. Very frustrating!! If anyone has a solution please post. Thanks

My iMac won’t open the .bin files for my R7, so I guess I’m stuck with the version from last year…. probably won’t buy another Uniden because of this
It's not supposed to. You use Uniden's update software to open it, not whatever program on your computer happens to think it's supposed to work with .bin files.
Never had problems with it before
“Unable to expand “r7_v143.147.121_db220105.bin”. It is in an unsupported format.”
Again, don't try to run the .bin file directly. Load it into the update software itself using the "Download Files" button on the side.
I downloaded the Uniden R Series Updater and the R7 Revision V1.43 but when my R7 reads connected it shows the version in the detector and latest file as 141.147.119 2021/10/05

I did this update yesterday and mine being refurbished model, there is no option for the User Setting when plugged into my pc. I was able to update to v1.43 successfully though.
You need to manually download the new firmware.
He says it in the video.
The firmware version that is auto downloaded it .19
On the website you can manually download .21.
Once you download firmware version ending it .21
Then you can configure the settings from your computer
