Rosetta are experimental post-metal icons who formed in 2003. 15 years later, the quintet continues to reach further into the abyss of heavy sounds; pulling from shoegaze, post-rock, hardcore, death metal and ambient electronics to craft challenging, thoughtful records. 2018's Utopioid is a dialectical journey through themes of environmental devastation and the role recent technology plays in our ever-increasing lack of human connection.
Recorded on April 24, 2018 in Chicago, IL.

Bruce is seriously one of the most underrated drummers of all time. He carries the grooves perfectly.
He's the GOAT
So... Basically what every competent drummer can do haha
Dale Baxter I feel bad for you if you can’t hear how unique his grooves are man.
Not that unique dude 😂 but you keep talking down to people because they disagree 😊
@@dalebaxter28 So literally what you just did?
I work with this singer. Super chill and hard working dude. We both work a rather physically demanding job so I bet he's one of the few singers who lugs gear. Nice to see the band has a good following
You mean Mike or Eric?
@@JohnDoe-es3gm Mike.
@@LesageSinging Did he get out of teaching?
@@caxide Its been a few months since I talked to him. Not quite sure.
@@LesageSinging Cool, yeah I can't say I'd be that surprised given the COVID situation especially. Teacher lifestyle is hard to sustain financially due to low wages so it's not too surprising. Cheers.
they're incredible.
i'm watching this at 5:40 in the morning before my first day of school and is a super boost of energy.
Set
01:08 - Detente
11:18 - Okyu / the Secrets
23:18 - (Untitled III)
34:25 - Qohelet
This is unbelievable. Thank you Audiotree for bringing these guys, they never cease to amaze. One of the few bands delivering such consistent, inspired and powerful stuff.
Yeah so good live and helps that they are great human beings too
The drummer is a monster.
una bestia
Yes he is!! Love Rosetta
And he has a sweet beard 😂
It's absolutely incredible how well their music translates live.
Their music really was meant to be played live. It's just so massive. Saw them for the first time earlier in the year and it was mind blowing.
yes, live experiance must be out of this world... i can sense even from my android speaker
nice, hell yeah... hare krishna
saw them in paris a few years back. my first "heavy" concert actually. they were playing loads of "the anaesthete" and holy smokes the experience was tremendous. studio album doesn't even come close.
Yeah, I can't understand the lyrics on here or on the album
Wow!!!!
I wasn't Expecting to see them here!!!! Thank you Audio Tree, keep bringing more post-metal bands!!!!!
Rosetta, I wish that someday I will be able to see you live in person, you guys are AMAZING.
I saw them on their last tour at a show with just myself and two of my friends in the audience. This was because their show they were supposed to play got cancelled three days before and they had to reschedule a last minute show farther away in my shitty town. One of the most magical and personal concert experiences of my life. Go see them if you can
Seen them twice since the anasthete was released and both times had less than 20 people there but they put on a show like no other band.
And the day has arrived, my friend!

Yes ,I just stumbled across the stuff they put out meaning the radio company like 5 months ago or so and I've come to know a bunch more bands that I like now if they put a local band blood Sun circle on their they would blow up and be a huge knot that they're trying to because they run a music store
Stunning live performance of a great band!
that long section from like 27:00 - 30:00 has me blown away... amazing performance
It’s impossible to understate how much I love this band .
This band still gives me chills everytime I hear them. I first heard “the Galilean satellites” when it came out and was hooked instantly. Thank you ROSETTA for all the incredible music over the years. These guys make music unlike anything ive ever heard and it is always such an expansive blend of lovely sound and emotion. Amazing artists. I hope I can catch them live some day
EUUUROOPPOAAAAAAA
It's a shame they never did anything of the same quality as The Galilean Satellites
Man, I never cease to get the chills or feel emotional whenever I listen to Detente (well...the band period). This performance was just as incredible as when I saw them for the first time at Saint Vitus earlier this year if not better.
First time I'm properly listening to this band, but damn are they inspiring
This band was love at first sight for me
God bless Rosetta. Warm greetings from Siberia (extreme north) and Caucasus. Make so much work that we enjoy endless.
Do you spot your time between the causcauses and Siberia? Beautiful places to live and work regardless I imagine xx
@@maynardrhodeskeenan well, born in Armenia and raised in Siberia. So different places but so much warms.
I discovered these guys 2 days ago. Feels so awesome that 1 day later you've uploaded this!
We went to a show last weekend. They are amazing. Thank's for the session aswell. A lot of good memories coming back by watching this video.
The addition of City Of Ships' singer/guitarist is the best thing that has happened to this band in recent years isn't it ? Love how full and lush they consistently sound both on record and live. Thanks Audiotree Live.
Houpert Klein to each his own. I like em better before Eric joined the band
criminally underrated
agreed
100%
I found this band only because I was watching birds in row and it was the next vid. They are just amazing, imagine how many bands is still there and people barely know about them. So happy I found them🖤
Red in tooth and claw would have been great. It's the most energetic song I know. One of my long-time favourites ever. I get goosebumps everytime I hear it.
I'd prefer 'Au pays natal' but damn, you can put almost every song of them in a bag and pick randomly and you'll have an awesome journey!
Au Pays Natal is a monument.
I think they lack a clue what songs really resonate the most and are most memorable. On the other hand, seen I could enjoy any set list of songs by them.
The first time I saw them, I asked them were they gonna play "Wake" (the song that introduced them to our scene), and they've played it the next time they came.
Really a unique band.
@@PhobosCollective They mentioned on their site's Q&A they don't have the proper equipment to play Galilean Satellites and I think Mike has implied a few times in interviews that he prefers to move on from from older songs because their narrative/themes are not where his mind is at anymore. Something like that. I feel like they should still invest in the equipment and play for the fans, but I know Indie bands is not a luxury so :/ . I wish I could've seen them live during the Galilean era.
@@adaddyyumyumshira5358 yes, the guitars have so many insane layers that they say it's just not possible. I remember reading that they will never write like that again
Love the sound of this! First Audiotree session I've watched all the way through
Oh my god, that bass tone!! You guys are heavy and so beautiful.
Thanks for this! Saw them live yesterday in Prague, they were so good and powerful.
these songs are epic beyond epic...thank you for posting this up! awesomeness!
Absolutely awesome!
Listend to these guys all day today. Really amazing band.
Awesome! Can't believe these guys flew under my radar until very recently, and I'm from Philadelphia!
Beautiful and endless space void
Listened this song LIVE. No words! loved it
Every member of this band has influenced my playing. The drummer just keeps getting more solid. I bought my first looping pedal and second delay after watching the guitarist play in a little pub in Mass
qohelet is so gut-wrenching..
Food for the soul. Those drums are crushing your soul in a brautiful way.
13:28 this transition is so awesome
Great set and great interview questions!
Every new rosetta release just ages so well
So good ,great people, played my town a ton early on cuz they were friends with some people in my town . Haven't seen them in like 7 year's or something
Audiotree delivers some more gold again. WOW! what an amazing band. Inspiring. Rosetta for LIFE.
these guys are all so chill in person
Very cool to see the band loading equipment. A lot of talent balanced by humility.
My favourite band I love these guys so much! Music is so beautiful and intense 🤟
The most underrated band in the world.
outstanding performance
Amazing band would love to see them live totally underrated
Matt Weed is clearly smart AF.
Oh man, I love this band so much. Also, this guy is absolutely my favourite host you have, thank you for bringing him back!
I love these guys. Go Rosetta!
Love me some Rosetta in the morning!! \,,/,
Legends!!!! 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Thanks for come To Colombia. Thats awesome!
The intro of the third song should prove to people there is way more to songs than it's loudest parts. Rosetta's intros and breakdowns and some of the most genius things of all time. Sets the tone of the whole song and totally entrances you in the world of the album
That whole record is perfect. I like most of their stuff but they pushed in a bunch of new directions and at the same time tightened up the song structure on that one and it really paid off.
Damn! This is perfect!
It's about damn time...
Hi BJ and Mike! Haha it's fun that I know Rosetta. Live close to BJ. Have done podcasts with him a long time ago. Worked with Mike at Tower! It's great that they've come so far since back in 2002, 2003. Now they're a big deal. Which they should be. Mega talents in this band!!!
This telecaster is the most beautiful guitar i have ever seen
Tres tres fort ce groupe ☀️☀️☀️
Just great and inspiring ^^
I didn't know this band! They are really good!
amazing band
Magnificent!
Bienvenidos a chile!!
Too bad we can't see Dave with the band here. I miss his bass grooves so much!
David Grossman has left the band? Or where was he when this was recorded?
Damn, this was sick.
Rosetta is too good to not be playing near me any time soon
I liked the discussion about music direction. I have to say, I liked but didn't love Quintessential Ephemera when it came out. After hearing Utopioid, I felt similarly. I've been going back to those albums in the last two years and now they really click for me. I might even rate them higher than the first two albums! Maybe I wasn't ready for it at the time.
Magnificent
This is just something else
Excellent
that's so impressive, incredibble and awesome . just true! metal
Oh my I didn't notice that electric guitar company guitar is absolutely sick with the tele body
LOVE
I love discovering new music by looking up band tees worn by bands I love... That said, what is Eric wearing? I know mt. st. mtn. is a tiny record label and it could very well be for one of their releases, but I can't tell which, if that's even what it is... Anyone know?
come back to chile
pleaseeee
Epic remix at 14:22. How many of y'all would listen to this version versus the studio?
I don’t see pay as you wish on the Rosetta Bandcamp
💜💜💜
audiotree fuckin rules. thank you always
Yet another video without pedalboards on screen ;D
Anyone knows anything about that Telecaster with the Aluminium neck?
Please do a The Armed on audiotree live ! :)
melodic-progressive-technical-everything and yet always different than you "hear" -) top
I can't find these guys on SPOTIFY =(
spoti.fi/2BlaIgr
I'm crying, Rosseta is so incredible that it's almost a transcendental experience.🥹🥹🥰🥰🥰🖤
big 4 of post-metal:
Neurosis
ISIS
Pelican
Rosetta
Is that a Tele Deluxe with a different neck, or just some completely different guitar?
Hunter Lardy looks like an EGC neck
Brutal.
❤❤❤
@17:04 insane drum part
fucking brilliant, breath taking ma dudes
Where have I been?
очень круто!
Where is original bass player? Is this the new one?
dave got a kid sometime around the quintessential ephemera release, thats why hes not touring for a while. looking forward to have him back in europe as soon as he can manage :)
Where's Dave (original bassist)? or did i miss something?
dave got a kid sometime around the quintessential ephemera release, thats why hes not touring for a while. looking forward to have him back in europe as soon as he can manage :)
If Rosetta on far out it would be wonderful
Maaad trips.... lots and lots of doors opening here in my little world....
Drums are sick as fuck
Who is the bass player? Where is Dave?
was that Paul Rudd on bass?
I'm sorry but you guys are confusing me so much. who is your Bass Player? According to a gear channel's video from 2015 the bassist is Dave, is not the one in this vid. Off of Wiki, his name is David Grossman, has been in the band since 2003-present. and this video is from 2018. I'm so confused! Lol
He’s still apart of the band!
Guess he could not be on this tour.
Can someone help me identify the blonde dude's guitar brand? I know the other one is a Gibson 🤔🥴
THIS DRUMMER IS A FUCKING SAVAGE BEAST WHAT THE FUCK
