Adrienne is one of the most underrated drummers. This kind of feeling is something that many drummers of heavy music lack!
Love her style of rushing the hi-hat a little bit on the backbeats. Brings a really unique impish energy to their sound.
this band is fucking phenomenal and the drummer is a monster. the control and restraint she maintains is unrivaled
The coolest thing about this band is the constant exploration within their chosen aesthetic. There's a universe of difference between this and Extra Capsular Extraction and, honestly, had Carlson hung it up after Earth 2, he'd still get free dinners. When Sunno))) came along and picked up where that LP left off, Carlson was already moving into other corners of the amber colored slo-mo. And it never stopped. I'm particularly big on the raw, guitar / drum config they've been doing in recent years
it's incredibly hard to play at these tempos while sounding coherent and steady and groovy. great drummer
Love their album the bees made honey in the lion’s skull, seeing them on kexp feels like something they deserve
I listen to mostly hip-hop but tbh I love this band and listen to them all the time
You really don't realize how extremely difficult it is to play slow. Any tiny little mistake will just hang there in the open undisguised.
@@menasouvlaki3595 So 2 piece bands are jam bands? White stripes, daft punk, tenacious d, beatles, Nirvana, and tons more all were 2 piece bands in the beginning.
Also, Earth is a 3 piece. The bassist just wasn’t there for the gig.
You’re literally hating on Kurt Cobains closest friend he ever had bro… This band is amazing live. You literally feel every note and lose yourself in the music unlike most shows where you aren’t entertained anough and pull out your phone to record instead of actually being there.
You need to do some research before shouting out “jam band” my dude. Sleep is another 2 piece band that has a 73 minute song. That’s not jamming. That’s insane skill. To memorize such long songs.
I used to play 15-20 minute songs in my old band and it was the hardest thing I’ve done musically.
@@menasouvlaki3595 this isn't jamming. Pretty precisely executed composed music.
@@craigdamage pretty sure the writing process would come from jamming and chemistry
Had the absolute pleasure to see Earth live in D.C. at the 9:30 Club, opening for Boris. My mom and I met one of the members of the band outside the venue and because I was a little less well-versed in individual musicians I didn't realize at first and she chatted with him and then all of a sudden we're in the place and the dude walks on-stage and my brain does a fuckin skip and I had to process that we just met one of the members of Earth completely out of the blue without me realizing it. Utterly amazing band to hear live. Swear to god that when they played it was like a pressure wave pushing everyone in the audience back a little, and when they stopped playing it was like everyone shifted forward because that pressure was GONE. Brilliant. Great opener for Boris, too, they were on their Pink tour and it was a good way to get acclimated to the heaviness before Boris brought the fucking speed with the eponymous track off Pink. I was a wiry little teenager with a pair of thick frame glasses and earplugs and was afraid of the mosh pit so I left the front of the stage but god what a killer performance.
Cheryl Waters is a national treasure! Earth is a great band! Friday afternoon made. Thanks KEXP!
Cheryl said it best. "Thank you for the gift of music that you've given us" ❤
I love how the drum hits are just a part of how she is moving; she makes it look like slow motion.
that guitar tone is so goood
Never tire of watching Adrienne drumming...this is music for the soul.
still the only band that can give me goosebumps after more than twenty years of listening: truly visionary, transcendent music.
When mom and dad steal my special gummy stash.
If you haven’t looked into Dylan Carlson yet, it might be worth doing. He’s led a pretty interesting life.
Cheryl Waters is a really great interviewer/host for these kinds of sets
Love the personal stories of familiar acquaintances
Dylan is so down-to-EARTH & modest
Rock solid drumming at a really challenging tempo on that first tune. Don't see that much. Well done.
Good observation. Her exaggerated movements are less theatrical and more to make sure she maintains the tempo and slow motion feel of the song.
It's insanely difficult to hold a beat at such a slow tempo. The band feels/sounds like some primordial force of nature.
her drumming is like ballet. she's great
Nowadays everything is faster and brighter, having someone as Earth doing slow stuff is great
Thank you Earth, for it all, and KEXP for sharing.
Man this band is phenomenal
I would relish in the fact of pissing off my ex (a typical MOR classic rock girl) by playing EARTH's early stuff (guitar and bass) glad to have stumbled upon this ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ps. the louder the better !
Melodic doom meditation love this band for 24 years never seen Dylan live though I wish
I love that they’re playing just a guitar center-ass Ibanez and a beater drum kit. They sound great!
i went to see them a few days ago in portland and when he walked out with that i almost burst out laughing. button down plaid, suspenders, jeans, and what looked like a last minute off the rack guitar center purchase and then they just rip it was hilarious
Yeah you would think he would be playing like vintage boutique guitars and maybe he does and brings a cheapo on the road. It's also the quality of the musicians that really matters
I often find myself playing my cheapest guitar and for some reason it just has some magic the others don't. I'd do a disservice to the song if I didn't play the cheap shit I wrote it on.
What the?! Where has this band been all of my life? Once again KEXP lights a fire.
@@camilaconcha9531you are in luck! They have like 20 albums to enjoy.
These guys are THE legend in so many fields. Drone metal, stoner rock, post-rock... Welcome to the club sir.
Saw Dylan do a solo opening for Sleep about 5-6 years ago. Immediately hooked me onto his music and Earth’s discography. Never realized how much they influenced so many artists I love.
and Dylan and Kurt Cobain used to be roommates! Cobain also featured vocals on one of Earth's EPs
The true NW sound that we all need to stay hydrated.
I saw Earth years ago in Cleveland, OH. It was hands-down the most physical / auditory experience i've ever witnessed. They played a 2.5 hour set and the tempo and volume slowed my heart down so much my knees buckled and had to take a seat.
I’m an Earth fan for 20 years now, but this band still amazes me. The new tunes are fantastic.
I just got done talking to my wife about this. They never cease to amaze me after all of these years. I’m so glad that Dylan is still with us and looks healthy.
I found out about this band through the CZcams channel Does It Doom? The Bees Made Honey in the Lion’s Skull has quickly become one of my favorite records ever.
I have to imagine Scalphunter's Blues is a continuation of the "Blood Meridian" inspired Hex. A fitting and timely tribute to one of the greats.
Never would of correlated this song to blood meridian but damn thats a good insight fs
I revisit this video almost daily. An incredible performance from a powerful band. Thank you to all involved.
That might be the best reimaging of a Motley Crue song ever. These two never disappoint.
Congrats on 3M 🔥🔥🏆🏆🍻🍻🍻🍻. Finding your station a decade ago or so was a very good thing to have happen. Was able to get a private tour around that time too. Just random person walks out for a break and was nice enough to show us around. Thanks for the special work you guys do! Music is one of the most positive things this world has to offer ❤️
I met these two last year in Chicago. They were so chill and let me take a picture with them. I love Earth! No matter where my head is, their music calms me right down.
Thanks for this set. I love Earth, these new songs are fantastic.
Love Earth. Saw them in Cork, Ireland, many years ago when I was in college, didn’t really know much about them at the time, but I’ve since become a big fan. It’s more than doom for me, it’s meditation music. 🤘
What a wonderful performance! Thanks.
The music of this band has sent me to realms of consciousness I cannot explain, but I want to go back...
These are the rare moments, when you don't expectate anything and you get everything... Thank you earth, thank you kexp!!! When you are in or near austria, i'll be there.
Thanks, but austin is in the usa. Austria is in the middle of europe,😉
@@FrankNStein-wr7he damn i wish i could read!! Fingers crossed for a europe Earth tour for yall
Unexpected gift :) Thanks KEXP and Earth. I love this band
this captures the rare post-Pentastar / pre-Hex era !
Yoooo love Earth!! This band’s sound is so massive
Dylan Carlson, the remanescent friend of Kurt and Mark. Good song!!!
This rules !!!! I love Earth
Earth is a great band, one of my favorites. I hope they come to Mexico sometime soon! 🇲🇽
Hells F’ing Yes!!! Missed it live & have been waiting for this to pop up! 🤘👽👽👽
Earth are legendary. Really nice to see them on KEXP.
I drove 2 states to see them perform in 2013 at this weird club underneath a highway. Smoked with Dylan and got matching tattoos with him because there was a tattoo shop right there.
He signed all my vinyls and literally walked over to me and my friend to play most of the show right in front of us because we were so excited to be there.
He’s an awesome guy. No wonder Kurt Cobain loved him. The drummer is really nice too. I’m a drummer myself, so me and her talked for a bit.
Overall it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had and definitely worth driving 2 states away for a 1 hour gig! I’d do it again anytime.
P.S. he even played my favorite song Ouroboros it was siiick
I met dylan one time after a show at the middle east and gave him a hug. Absolute genius of guitar control
Adrienne is hands down my favorite drummer on the planet. Watching her I have to remind myself to breathe.
La mejor banda del mundo, como quisiera que mas personas entendieran lo radical y única que es esta música. Dylan es un Dios moderno de la guitarra y su estilo es realmente innovador. Que los Dioses los bendigan 🌎
im new to the Earth train. I love it. Heard about them from a documentary.
it really cool how Dylan makes one guitar sound like 2 or 3
Earth out here giving us a sense of what would happen if Link Wray's "Rumble" were fully explored as a compositional philosophy. What a gift, this band.
I bought an earth hat at a show back in the day when they opened for Boris and I wore it so much it turned purple from sun bleaching (was black originally).
Saw these guys randomly in Oly in 1990 at Reko Muse. Probably the loudest show of my life.
Sounds great. Lots of space to feel.
Thank you so much. 🙏🏼❤
Earth is so iconic, we are so lucky to have them.
Wow drums, guitar and passion really go well together
A group able to create a feeling through music that is unmatched. Earth is very special and deserving of all credit show towards them. Legends.
Loving the drums. Love the guitar vibe detuned, Head phones on in a trance here. :)
This is so good. The drummer looks like she's moving through some kind of heavy syrup, it's awesome
omg. Incredible duo. Thank you so much
This was amazing! Mind-blowing
我想跟鼓手一樣打鼓 優雅又瀟灑, thank you so much KEXP to share such a great band, it one of the best working music for me , eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Dylan looking fresh with the new 'do!
Nicely done ❤.
EARTH rules!
Awesome!!!! Thanks for this!!!!!
Absolutely sensational !!! 🤩
Earth is the BEST band to have a glass of whiskey to, not even close
Such a vibe!
The best band going right now.
Fabulous 🙂 ......Thanks
INCREDIBLE drummer
What a cool Band !!! Hats off to them :)
i cant believe these guys are still kicking it!
Such a beautiful sound
Hell yeah! Earth is soo good!
Such a beautiful title: 'The bees made honey in the lion's skull'. I believe it's a biblical reference. Earth is a monumental, radical band.
So relaxing...
Saw these guys a few years ago. Mezmorizing!
最高です。アースかっこいい!
Magnificent rhythmic sense, coming from the soul, coming from the Earth...
THOSE OVERTONES AAAAAAAAA SO GOOD
They’re great!
Cara...eu curto muito EARTH Dylan e Adrienne são demais 👍🤘🏻
This is SO good ❤❤
Awesome band!
Awesome band
The main riff from 'Calirornia...' is one of the best i've ever heard 🎸
Love earth thanks for this
Dejarlo todo, escuchando a Earth. Siempre el mismo doom. Diferente cada vez.
Fucking stellar , been waiting for some new EARTH since "Full Upon..." Dylan and Adrienne both looking healthy , hope these artists continue to bless us for years . TY for upload . Inspiring . His simple melodies resonate more than anything else , for me .
Always fantastic.
I played in a band that opened for Earth a long time ago in Nashville at Springwater. I distinctly remember at one point during their set the drummer counted off so slowly on the hi hat that I didn't even realize it was a count off until the rest of the band kicked in. They had a bass player at the time so they were playing as a 3 piece. I like this but I think the bass did help carry the songs a little better and added some more weight and dynamics to the overall sound.
Fantastic. That's all I've got.
I met Dylan outside a venue. I was drunk out of my mind and star struck, but knew I'd regret not talking to him. I didn't say I loved his music or anything like that, I just asked him what the biggest animal he could take in a fight was. He entertained me enough, saying "Maybe two raccoons, because I'm not very tough."
Anyways, they killed it that night.
I'd lose to a squirel . How do you spell sqwerril?
Used to use this as a pick up line. (I'm a ladies man) Only one woman found it funny lol I'm married to her now.
@@DoomedMidwestern Does this mean there's a chance Dylan and I get married?
There are a lot of things I'd rather fight than two raccoons
@@rylanhislop8889 maybe just get a venue on retainer just in case
