Lol that's fucked up
Imagine the thoughts running through the spotters minds -
1 - damn I can't spot this....

3 - please make it....
Lol..that weight ll crush the spotters..lmao
lol while I was watching this video, I was thinking the same thing.
🤣👏
This goes in every spotters mind but for this guy it is another level 🤯

That 3rd squat attempt was 100% a good lift no questions asked
it sickening
Order sissy six on curupt cookie cutter judges it politics bro
Yh, i didn't get that
What made it not? I didn't understand. Can someone explain?
He may have been a cm or two short of parallel. There's a lot of rules in IPF so not sure why he didn't get credit. He certainly has the ability to do that squat.
those blokes around him pretending like they have a chance stopping that bar crashing to the floor.
They're there so they can make sure the plates dont crack if it falls at the expense of their foot bones haha
Penissniffer they're just their to give him a little extra push if he can't get it
definitely doesnt look like a joke to me. guy was serious and made himself look stupid
Those IPF spotters and Olympic stands are a joke. They obviously don't give a shit about safety. It's trivial to set up a cage/monolift and safety straps, you can still dictate that the bar has to be walked out. This is all kinds of stupid.
To be fair, when the weight is divided it's not heavy at all. 200kg, with 4 spotters, is them carrying a shared weight of 50kg each, i.e. like 1 person spotting a bar with half a plate on each side. It's a lot of weight, but with more people it gets less and less. It's the same reason why groups of people on the side walk are able to flip cars after car crashes etc., division of labor.
Bro the control on this man is fcking insane. he carries everything so gently then exploder
A living legend of powerlifting and he hasn't even retired from competing yet.
He hit depth on all 3 squats.
Judging is wack
Vinny Booboo there jealous
Incompetent judges. Fucking losers
NoHeDidn't
TheBatugan77 YesHeDid
How did they not give him that 3rd squat attempt, he physically could not have went any deeper due to the size of his abdomen. He was way below parallel...
I think he may have been able to go slightly lower, but I agree he seemed to be close to as low as he could go, as well as being below parellel
this was the topic of the squats from the two guys on the mic. when these guys are so big you cant really see the hip crease anymore and with the quad size so big they pretty much go as low as there body's will allow
John Miller yep, exactly! And it also seemed to me like Ray made sure to go even deeper on the 3rd attempt than he did on the 2nd, just to be safe. So it seems a little off to me that one of the judges called his second lift good, but not his third.
I know the judges are under a lot of pressure at an event like this
under loads of pressure and only have one chance to call it it real time and he moves the weight fast so its not easy.
Wow his movements are so smooth, usually at the top it’s a bit sudden but not here, this man is powerful
I like how he just lifts his weights. No hype. No bullshit.
1:18
@@yagizgencer7559 lmfao i died
What's wrong with being hyped also 1:18. Hype = bullshit? The only one who is bullshitting is you.
He placed those deadlifts down like a baby in a crib!
James Lima Like his overly drunk girl friend. He even held the hair out of the way in case the barbell needed to puke in the front garden.
well, you have to
That's the way everyone should do it :)
They act like they would some, trust me they would run the hell out the way lmao
That the way to do it. When you slam you don’t work your muscles escentrically which is gudz for gainz
All squats were in depth. You can't judge the superheavyweights the same way you judge lighter athletes. You have to take into consideration the fact that sometimes they just cant go any lower.
Ray's power from the hole during the squat is just insane though. Best squatter of all time.
But these russians are not even close to natty 😂
and those ruskies do it with wraps. Life Is Peachy, please stop..
you couldnt have said this any better
TheSuperNorminator Not sure if you realise but it is very unlikely that R.Williams is natty either. These days there is no a single world class athlete who's entirely drugs free. Drug tested doesn't mean drug free.
the 2nd squat was never in depth they cheated him to win for this reason there is such a bad camera position and the only lift without a slow motion fuck IPF
Incredibly good lifts, Ray! Keep it up! :)
Glad this guy is on our team. Man is a beast
He is so wide that his deadlift grip width is most guys snatch grip width lol.
And then again his bench was surprisingly narrow.
That's why most people suck at it, they do everything so damn narrow compared to good lifters
Different things work for different people, it's not like all the good lifters do things the same way either, in fact, quite the contrary
hhshaia noticed that too
Bigger guys need bigger grips, his grip is pretty close to Brian Shaw's, but his grip for bench was narrow like Huffman said.
judges deserve to be fired after this one.
What the fuck was the red for on the first press?
Mole Hansman the judge failed the lift with a yellow card and a yellow card can mean a lot of things. Most likely it was due to a reason that we could not see like him lifting his feet off of the ground, or him touching his feet to part of the bench.
Mole Hansman it could also have been his head moving slightly up or his butt coming off of the bench but if I had to guess I would say one of his feet moved slightly off of the ground and the red caught it.
Mole Hansman or it could also be him turning his head near the end of the lift but I’m not sure.
I love his deadlift setup - textbooks would use this man as an example
This is an example of why powerlifting judging is bullshit. One red on the second squat and the other side judge wants to prove that he’s a “good” judge too. So he joins the red on the last squat. It happened to me in just the same way on a 3rd attempt deadlift at a collegiate national meet. Took me from 3rd to 5th on a clean lift
That sux shit man. Sorry you got a bad call for a good lift.
Judging was straight bullshit lmao how is that 3rd squat not good
upper thighs are supposed to be plat horizontally.
He was high. How do you not see that?
@@marbling3 Do you see his thighs? They aren't horizontal to begin with, lol. Like mountains on bone.
Andrew Jatib how was he high? His hips are lower than his knees.
@@marbling3 Yes... It's a common misconception that the hamstrings are the marker... But it is the quads that need to be parallel.
Judges were really bad this world games..
Spectacular performance🔥🔥🔥
He's so explosive on every lift it's ridiculous. It's particularly impressive on his squat and deadlift, where others aren't usually so quick from the bottom. I mean I don't have words to describe it, absolutely ungodly.
if he fails the squat i think those spotters might get crushed under the weight
probably safer just to dump weight
Why don't they use racks with safety pins?
Init what’s ya average joe gonna do under 400kg 😂
Light Yagami, i am L
These world records are farsical. Lifts are lifts .. Eddie hall has squatted over 500kg, deadlifted 500 and benched supposedly 310kg. He's even pressed 227.5kg overhead.
The speed with which he moved those weights was amazing. I wonder what his true 1 rep maxes would be outside of a competition setting.
There's something graceful in Ray's adjusting position for deadlift :)
this gives me chill watching this
I met big Ray in Melbourne at a health expo a few years ago, he's a lovely fella. I wish him all the best.
I'm going to be a lovely fella too
2:28 I laughed so hard when one judge red lighted even that super clean easy bench opener. Is one of the lights broken? lmao
Huffman_Tree They had nothing better to do. Just look at his 3rd squat
Aryan nation judges?
watch wierzbicki (think thats how you spell it) bench presses, they were terrible and got all white lights
serious question, based on that lift, what would be one of the judges reasons to red light?
+José Tobias
Even his second attempt didn't hit depth, look at his hip crease and knee. I'm surprised that these SHW lifters get white lights from not hitting depth all the time.
One of cleanest powerlifting performances I've ever seen
Perfect form, smooth movement….absolute MONSTER!! 👿
Refreshing to watch a video on CZcams with quality lifts.
I really love the way Big Ray deadlifts. They look so fucking good. Very explosive but without any unnecessary pulling on the bar
man this guy is an inspiration
Who the hell were the judges??????? They were the worst!
Tim Dunlap eight they should have retired body builder or retired power lifter as judges
This guys kinda looks like mark Henry from wwe
Pey Astig like Mark Henry on steroids
Benjamin Phiri you do realize Mark Henry was a fucking animal in the weightlifting world too right?
A Real Black Person of course I do. I mean this guy just made it look too easy
watch Henry in the NBA dunk contest. it is amazing.
Ray is Mark's spiritual successor
Thanks for this John
David Forbes not a problem
My knees bent over backwards just watchin him set up. 🥵👑
Good to see Ray William Johnson relevant again 👏
Powerlifting needs to be an Olympic sport
lets hope it gets approved soon
No
MiLoHWD1983 why not?
Ben Severance very simple. Powerlifting is a lot less technical than Olympic weightlifting. The olympic weightlifting is not about brute force, more about a clean technique.
MiLoHWD1983 yeah and most Olympic weightlifters would love to lift as much as ray can.
Love his form! What a beast
Beautiful deadlifting control
Ray Williams is now a legend and an idol
Are you kidding me with these depth calls? The IPF really needs to sort their shit out when it comes to calling depth. If you are going to put in the rule book that the crease of the hip must be below the top of the knee, then call it that way! It’s not 1inch below the top of the knee, or 2 inches below the top of the knee. If it is, then change the rules so there is no confusion. SMH IPF
IPF rule say the top surface of the leg at the hip joint must go below the top of the knee. "Hip crease" is never mentioned.
Joe Nextlifter that's just two different ways of describing exactly the same thing.
No it's not - show people a picture of a somebody doing a squat and ask them where the crease of the hip is and ask them where the top surface of the leg at the hip joint is is and you'll get different answers every time. If you check the rule books very few even mention the "crease of the hip" liftbigeatbig.com/the-thin-line-between-champ-and-chump-squat-depth-in-powerlifting/
Joe Nextlifter I understand where you are coming from. I went through that whole article and found most federations mention a hip joint/crease. IPF does say top of thigh at hip but their diagram looked no different from many of the others so it was pretty confusing.
Judging was wack c'mon fellas
Fauxcobra i also predicted his 3rd squat would get red lighted. It looked a tad shallow
it is not about the butt. hip joint must be below knee joint
nah hes too fat to easily get below paralell, pause the vid at the bottom and youll see. thats just the way it is
Wondering why he was descending so slow this time around. He usually has a progressive drop and uses hiss stretch reflex to explode from the bottom with insane depth.
Damn...he's a beast💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
I felt respect after he put it down so gently.
There was a judge that was basically red lighting everyone on squat
Pause it at 1:53. You can't tell me that's not below parallel and NOT hitting depth!
namsnoodle yeah man...he got hosed big time! They need xray technology to match the hip bone femur connection to the top of the knee cap. These lifterstrajn their asses off to get fucked around d on world records ,and it's high grade fucking BS.
i can, because it is not
riiiiiiiiiiight
namsnoodle nice comeback. buy better glasses and stop being biased.
Wasn't really trying to make a comeback. Just you and I don't agree.
Truly amazing.
This warms my heart, towards the end all I hear is "Light weight! Yup yup!". It hurts to see Ronnie on crutches now :(
In my opinion that was the greatest raw total of all time in sleeves if they would have given him that last squat! I could only imagine how much more he could pull with a deadlift bar absolutely absurd amount of power right there🤯
probably not much more considering that he struggles at lockout so much compared to off the floor
It''s pretty hard to assess the squat depth given the size of rays the hamstrings and quads. Technically speaking, the squat ends when the hip joints fall below the patellas.
Also, it's very hard to judge from the front with a camera at an angle.
Impressive lift my friend.
Regards,
Toby
Seriously how does he not get the white lights for those squats...I don't understand what they're expecting him to do
dudes hamstrings are touching his calves. I dont get how thet expect him to go lower.
His grip on the bench seems very narrow. He has a large range of motion, which makes his bench even more impressive. Too many powerlifters only move the bar a few inches. They need to change standards to deal with that.
I doubt he's doing it to make things harder for himself
The one he got red lighted for is the best depth I have ever seen him hit 😂
He made that deadlift look light!
Deadlift tecniqe is absolutely perfect
Ray strong as ever, crazy to see how his deadlift evolved, especially considering his body type. Unfortunate for the third squat attempt though, looked quite deep, didn't see it from the side of course. It would have gotten him the 1100 mark :/
I watched in on the stream and it was really close. I think I would have given it a white light but you never really can tell when watching it you really need to be there
He clearly went way below depth. He just has big quads so the judges are being pricks.
The way he deadlifted, he can deadlift at any gym including Planet Fitness, assuming that they allow him to be in.
This is Power! Great!!!
Congratulations ray 🤝 you're a real terminator 💪💪💪
Would love to see him and Larry wheels train together !
man, ray william johnson has really changed since he left youtube...

I would love to see eddie hall do a meet to see what numbers he could pull
He would destroy lol 450 dead 430 squat 310 bench = 1190kg and that’s being generous 😂
The only thing that's unknown is how much strength he keeps when he come off the gear to pass the drug test. I am not really sure how that all works but I would think he would need to at least stop taking it for a few weeks maybe a month.

The upgraded mark henry 🖐🏻
I though that is was mark before i looked at the title
The way he explosively pulls then gingerly puts down those deadlifts make me want to seek shelter. A bomb of a human!
very different forms for clinton and willians. Willians does both over hand with a sumo style and each hand is more far apart than what I would expect. when Williams deadlifts he drops into it then pulls right away rather than squating slightly down like many do. I would think this would mess him up because he is rolling the bar slightly right before exploding up. He knows what he is doing and what is comfortable for him. The different forms and styles that work for different people is one of the things that makes this sport fun to watch
I can't believe those squats were not good.....do those judges need glasses????
