    Pete's take on consent of a drunk person is what got him in trouble. Now it all makes sense.

    Pete, I don't know if you're aware of this, but you are not legally able to give consent while intoxicated.

    • @bverji
      @bverji Před 8 lety

      +Sarah Marie That's only true in the most extreme cases of intoxication; it depends greatly upon the level of provable intoxication. You have to be almost completely incoherent to not be able to legally give consent while intoxicated; plus it works both ways.; If two people have been drinking who took advantage of who?That being said in this particular instance it sounds like she may of not been sober enough to give consent, but there are many factors involved that we don't know.

    I'm so glad you addressed this Pete. I went back this weekend to view the comments after listening to last week's show and JL mentioning the controversial show. I was shocked by what some were saying and hoping you would respond back. I love that you stood up for them! I didn't agree with everything either, but I always enjoy hearing all the different points of view.

    So from what I gathered from Pete was that if you drink and get drunk and also get sexually assaulted its all your fault. Also you can severely impaired and still give consent for sex even though the law says otherwise good to know thx pete

    I love this show. As an opinionated woman, I would like to thank you for what you said. While I don't agree with every opinion on the show, I appreciate that you allow each other to share different view points in a respectful manner. It keeps the show interesting, and if everyone had the same opinions on everything, there would be no opportunity for growth. I appreciate every panel member and the different personalities/views they bring to the show!

    See this is what I love about Pete. He's not afraid to call people out. The Dis is his community, he built it, and he's quick to quell anything unsavoury in it. And he's so straight up about it, he doesn't pussyfoot around it, and he's not afraid to lose fans because of it. No, I didn't agree with everything that was expressed in that debate (tbh I'm actually of the same opinion as Pete) but I'm still tuning in. People live and experience the world differently, people need to suck it up and live with that.

    I would like to know if the confederate flag was an issue for anyone prior to the recent church atrocity? I just don't remember anyone talking about it when the dukes of hazard were on TV. My opinion is that its a straw dog needed to distract us from real issues.

    • @ginnylee9298
      @ginnylee9298 Před 9 lety

    Re: The flag debate. Some of what was said on that show wasn't an opinion but misstating facts and a display of a lack of understanding of the subject. That is what was most disconcerting. Saying you feel strongly about an issue while you go on to show how little you actually understand is problematic. But I completely agree with what Pete said, I think everyone that appears on the show is important and is on there because their views are trusted and valued. That was part of the reason why I was so bothered by some of the things that were said.

    • @CampbellzS0up
      @CampbellzS0up Před 9 lety +1

      Why are you concerned about a roundtable, who's focused on Disney, opinions about the flag? If anything offices you a wider view what people think on the subject their DISNEY experts, no American historians

    • @TheRealConcertKing
      @TheRealConcertKing Před 9 lety +4

      Michael Campbell I don't see how this being a Disney show is relevant to this topic. They discussed something, and a few of them were offering untrue things as if they were facts, which can be very damaging when given a platform that reaches thousands (or more) people. For instance, Julie said that the flag was never created as a racist symbol and that it's never meant that, only a few people twisted it to mean that. When in actuality, it was created as a racist symbol and always has been. The overall focus of the podcast has no bearing on the statements that were made.

    • @ginnylee9298
      @ginnylee9298 Před 9 lety +1

      TheRealConcertKing I couldn't say that better then myself!

    • @merkur18
      @merkur18 Před 9 lety

      To say the flag was solely created as a racist symbol is just as ignorant as someone saying it wasn't created as a racist symbol. The flag was created to encompass all aspects of why the south sought secession. It was about slavery, it was about taxes, it was about differing view points. What it wasn't about was just one thing, as you claim it to be.

    I had a feeling Pete was gonna bring up the Confederate flag comments. I stated my opinion before, so its not worth saying again. Everyone is absolutely entitled to their opinions & beliefs. I didn't see the comments where people singled out them for being females with opinions. Most of the comments seem to come from opinionated females, like myself lol. But, I still enjoy watching the DIS podcast! It's all good! ✌ 😊

    GOSSIP. Until court rules anything you are spreading rumors. "If you drink, you are responsible for your actions" If she got behind the wheel of a car and killed a person it was her fault for being impaired. Whether male or female if you impair your judgement you leave yourself vulnerable to other people. Not all people are good. It is your responsibility to maintain yourself not anyone else.

    • @tmcneil516

      Michael Campbell I don't remember anybody saying that specifically, but some comments went along the vein of "If Pete were there, they wouldn't be saying these things...." or "If Pete was on this week, he would be controlling this debate better than JL..." That's all I can think of, and by the way, these are NOT quotes, just my memory of what was said.... which is faulty at best I admit.

    The Flag: As far as gender it seems to be that the ladies were the ones speaking. Especially Theresa joining in in the good ole boy mentality. Whatever the case, I think it's a little ridiculous to not see that a flag that can cause such an impact on a community, a flag of those a who wanted to keep the south segregated, should be pulled from a place that is about being all together.

    I completely agree with Pete. I didn't agree with what was said in regards to the Rebel Flag. I a Southerner and I HATE IT!! I hate the way it make the other 90% of us in the South look. I'm ashamed of that part of our past. I want it removed from everything. That's just my opinion. I have friends and family that disagree with that statement. But, for me to discount how they feel or believe is wrong. This is America. We don't all have to agree. You have to respectfully state your opinion and have an open mind to listen to those that don't agree. I'd sure hate to live my entire life and never hear an opinion other than my own!

    • @tmcneil516
      @tmcneil516 Před 9 lety

      Lucian Manning I agree that it was a horrible part of our history, but don't dash it from our history, learn from it. We need to teach our children about it. Remember, a philosopher named George Santayana, once said "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it". We need to remember it, and learn from it.

    • @mobileguy1981
      @mobileguy1981 Před 9 lety

      Tina McNeil I understand the point. However, that argument to me is like saying, so that we don't forget the holocaust let's fly Nazi flags at Disney. The Rebel Flag has it's place in history. But, like Jewish people wouldn't like seeing a Swastika, maybe black people don't care for the stars and bars. It's one in the same. America fought the CSA to free a race of people just the same as America fought the Nazi's to free a race of people. Those are just my opinions though. I understand people feel strongly about that flag. I'm proud to be southern, I wouldn't change that for the World. But, I'm American first and the only flag that means anything to me are the stars and stripes.

    • @tmcneil516
      @tmcneil516 Před 9 lety

      Lucian Manning Other than the fact that the Civil War wasn't JUST against slavery, I see your point. I hadn't really thought of that. I'm just very concerned that this country, like so many past great cultures, will fall because we forget our past and make the same mistakes we made in our past.

    • @ginnylee9298
      @ginnylee9298 Před 9 lety

      Tina McNeil As far as making the same mistakes, I don't think that it's just forgetting our past that enables that to happen--but it's the continuing the cycle of hate that will allow that to happen. I understand what you are saying though.
