  • We are lucky to live in a time where we have so many options for engine parts, but having so many options can make the selection process more challenging. Today, Jay goes over some of the more popular options and his experience with each. If you like this kind of content, please drop a comment and let us know what other types of products you would like to see unboxed and discussed.

Looks like the Manley Tri Beam is the goldylocks choice for the 'typical' 1k hp street 2JZ build. Got high marks for power handling and durability yet it keeps the weight down a bit versus some of the other options.

I have a old set of Eagle rods with ARP 2000 bolts and they seem to be a little lighter. Weight matching is pretty good right out of the box; 3 x 588.5, 588.9, 589.0 and 589.1 grams. Advertised weight 590 grams.

Building a 6g72 myself. But in a weird way. A high rpm ,naturally aspirated build was considering aluminum rods for the weight. But went with the bc625 rods. They were still less weight then stock. Still not quite 100% sure I made the right choice. Granted pampena motorsports suggested a steel rod over aluminum. Here's to hoping I made the best choice lol.

9:27 See now...I wish I knew this when specing my Coyote build as I opted for Manley 300M rods in lieu of Billet aluminum rods since this was a street engine build for 1300hp. Especially since the piston has a limited life anyway.

purchased the manley H beams for my 2jz . They say they are good for 800whp. I’m looking for 500-600whp so i figured on E-85 they would be fine. Hopefully that Torque doesn’t give them a problem. GTX3582R .82 A/R

Wont aftermarket rods not influence the lubrication of the Chevy small block cylinder walls? Original GM rods had oil thrower tabs on the outer side (crank side of the bearing pocket) most aftermarket rods have nothing? Will I need to modify the rods with oil channels or the crank before use?

Hey Jay, gotta question. I bought some pistons and rods from a friend of mine. And i don't know how to tell what pistons they are as far as size and compression. They're CP pistons (suppose to be 9.01 C.R )and Eagle rods..any help would be greatly appreciated

Hey Jay had a quick question? I'm doing a 1.5jz build that will likely never see over 600-700 hp and will likely first stay out at 500-600 hp. I really didn't want to spend an arm and a leg on something crazy like Carrillos. How are the eagle h beams and brian ceower HD rods. Would you recommend one over the other?
