    I wonder how many times Tiffany has turned to Sal halfway through one of his sentences and said: "Oh. You're doing a bit."

    *Dr. Gregor, after the trial of Scott Summers:* “Hooray, we did it! We finally made being a mutant illegal, or something!”
    *Nimrod:* “Yes, well done, my trusted meatbag friend and ally! Now we can finally move on to the next stage of our master plan.”
    *Dr. Gregor:* “That’s the part where ORCHIS establishes a new golden age for humanity as the one true inheritors of the Earth, right?”
    *Nimrod, already beginning to summon a multiversal AI god to consume the entire planet:* “…Something like that, yes.”

    If Marvel is able to get Donny Cates to make a grand return via a Wolverine book with Greg Capullo then that would sell gangbusters

    • @halfmettlealchemist8076
      @halfmettlealchemist8076 Před 6 měsíci

      I heard Cates is suffering from amnesia due to being in a really bad car wreck sometime last year, so I’m not sure when or if he’ll continue writing at Marvel once he’s fully recovered. I really do hope he’s doing okay, though.

      @@halfmettlealchemist8076 I hope he’s able to. He seemed interested in returning to write when he felt he was able to. But his health and wellbeing definitely have to come first.

    Enjoyed the end of this era but looking forward to a new jumping on point for X books

    I loved Jim Lee’s art on X-men back in the day but I can’t imagine anything less exciting than him returning to the series, especially post Krakoa. To follow up such a great status quo change with blatant nostalgia bait would be disappointing, but I fear this is the direction the book is going in with or without Jim Lee. As Sal said, you can see the writing on the wall with the X-men ‘97 push in recent months. Not to mention the upcoming Deadpool/Wolverine movie and the inevitable MCU X-men film.

      It'll be a dark time for x fans. But after eating so good a famine is expected

    • @NAP26-
      @NAP26- Před 6 měsíci +2

      @@Jaddaprog It’s true, X-men fans have had it good for the last 4-5 years. But then again, they suffered through a 15-20 year (arguably longer) famine before that. House of M, Decimation and all the behind the scenes stuff going on between Disney and Fox over the films really turned me off of the franchise and honestly Marvel in general for a while. As much as I enjoyed “Secret Wars” (2015), I still can’t believe some of Marvel’s greatest and most popular characters were barely involved with what might be the best event of all time. Especially when the X-men franchise is what kept the company afloat in the 90s.

    I was hyped for Fall of the House of X but it mostly let me down. It was definitely rushed, in terms of story and art, which hurts to say cuz I love Werneck. I want to remain positive, but Sins of Sinister proved to me that Duggan was the wrong person to hand the keys to X-Kingdom to while Gillen, Ewing and Spurrier were around. I think Duggan can write decent superhero stories but he just doesn't have the scope of mind or deftness of hand to helm the X-Men (case in point, violently killing the most diverse team of mutants we've ever had at the Hellfire gala '23)

    • @halfmettlealchemist8076
      @halfmettlealchemist8076 Před 6 měsíci +1

      I definitely feel like Gillen, Ewing, and Spurrier definitely did most of the heavy lifting during this back half of the Krakoan Era of X-Men comics. I don’t dislike Duggan’s writing, but it does have a very paint-by-numbers feel to it - it’s got all the big blockbuster action and snappy dialogue you could want, but at the expense of any kind of subtlety or meaningful character moments to give readers some kind of emotional anchor. And while Fall of the House of X does a fine job focusing on the former, I think Gillen’s Rise of the Powers of X is going to pick up most of the slack in regards to the latter.

    I do wonder if we've already seen the start of the new era of X-Men with The Original X-Men one-shot? I'm really not sure if that's going to be it's own thing or if it's the "prologue" to the new X-Men run.

    • @halfmettlealchemist8076
      @halfmettlealchemist8076 Před 6 měsíci +1

      They actually revealed that book was a prologue to a new Weapon X/X-Force book later this year by the same creative team, so you’re not entirely off the mark there. Still not sure who’ll be writing the mainline X-Men book proper post-Krakoa (my money’s on Ewing, personally.)

    • @michaelestival9875
      @michaelestival9875 Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@halfmettlealchemist8076 That's what I was hinting at. I'm just not sure if "Age of Apocalypse" Wolverine or Purple Phoenix will end up joining one of the main teams post-Krakoa or if this is it's own series of minis not connected to the main stuff. It feels like it could lead into the main book, but maybe not?

    It might be real, wasn’t there a rumor a year or two ago that everyone, including Lee, was getting fired at DC? Right around when Didio was let go. If that had happened … where does he go? What does he do? I don’t think he has the energy for a monthly, but at this point he has made his money, it’s all about legacy now. Why not go back to Marvel and do some stuff? It is a crime an artist of his talent only does the occasional cover.
    Hey it happens … just look at Kirby!
