This wagon is very rare. Not too many of those came with a big block. They usually were a six cylinder or a 302 2 barrel V8. For how rare it is, you really gotta leave its drivetrain alone that way it’s numbers matching. What your sons Ford truck needs is a Godzilla 7.3 crate motor backed by a 6 speed manual and a very loud exhaust. His truck with almost 500 horsepower, it’s gonna be a real monster

We had a 69 mercury marquis wagon with the 429. Took it on a 7000 mile Trip out west in 72. Fantastic family truckster!

  • @phillipbreaux193

That thing would make a nice sleeper with that drive train.

Easier said than done, but be patient with pops, we old feller’s don’t always do everything right. Lord help us to be humble. Don’t be too hard on him. We made a lot of mistakes in our life. You guys got a good thing going right there, and how about them Fords !!!

A friend of mine had the 69 Marauder 429 cobra jet, one bad ass car. It went to the bone yard with no rust, makes you wanna cry.

  • @billdyke9745

That was a fabulous wagon 55 years ago. Shame to let it go, but your car, your time, your money... 🇬🇧👍

My dad sold these when new. He always had a Squire wagon as his demo. Big, powerful, comfortable car.

My '69 Mercury wagon 429 4V was a powerhouse. Hi compression monster for a big old truckster!

  • @deborahchesser7375

With some TLC and a few speed parts she’d make a heck of a grocery getter. One of the rare times you may hear, Dad ! I’m taking the wagon tonight! 😆

Oh I always enjoyed working on the cars with the Dad. Made for some good memories, glad to see the world hasn't completely gone to crap and this Father Son Interactions are still a thing. Oh I'm thinking yall need to go with one of those 67-72 f100's. I mean the 61-66 weren't bad, but if I was gona rate the f100's, I always put 61-66 as some of the ugliest Ford trucks.

    Cool old wagon, those early

  • @TJ-qz6hr

Clicked for the station wagon, stayed for the 429. Can’t wait to see more of this one!

  • @ShilohShepherd

My friend had a 71 LTD with the 4V 429 while in high school. A real sleeper

  • @tedzehnder961

The 429 is a big hunk of a power plant that will be under stressed in anything you put it in.I Had one in a 68 T bird and it hauled that boat around no problem.

  • @glennk1931

My dad had a 69 Country Squire. Same color, black interior, and the simulated wood siding. 429 BB. Ran great for as heavy as it was.

  • @mooklocklear1182

Had that's awesome, glad to see a 429 saved

  • @jamesthompson8008

Cool vid, man - glad I found it!

  • @jrmrencso8716

    Wagons make great storage lockers!

My dad ran a farm co-op for 30 years and I spent my teenaged years driving a tag axle tender truck for him. Mostly 389’s in Louisville cabs. A few Jimmy’s too. Then one season I got to drive a 429 with a hydraulic dump bed. It was painted in dark company green. What an absolute animal. Quiet and smooth too. Never spilled my coffee. Word got out how great it was and the home office claimed it. 😡
