That's the reason why they probably won't release a high end Rx 8000 series GPU. Getting TSMC fab time is expensive and needs to be ordered well in advance. If you have a competitive CPU architecture and an uncompetitive GPU architecture, it makes sense to make more CPUs with that fab time and less GPUs.

From a gaming perspective AMD did not release anything new during that time period and most of the cheap RX 6000 cards are now sold out with only a few deals left as opposed to the prior period where the RX 7000 was new and RX 6000 was on sale. I would assume most people have already upgraded or are waiting for the RTX 5000 series at this point. I am going to be grabbing a RTX 5000 series card on launch and know many other people who plan to do the same so I am not really sure gpus sales are down because of lack of consumer buying power.
The other portion of this sales segment is the crypto miners. RX 6000 series is pretty good for mining. RX 7000 series is not good for mining. NVidia makes gpus for servers, laptops, and desktops and they also make some arm stuff....AMD is WAY more diversified in their product catalog than nvidia...Nvidia can split their wafer supply upon less products stacks than amd so nvidia due to this will always sell more gpus than amd and also because of brand recognition in the gaming gpu landscape as well as some "healthy" fanboyism.

Given that the performance between on board and entry level GPU's is closing fast and regardless of AMD GPU performance, they simply don't sell, I think APU's with up to mid tier GPU performance wouldn't be a bad thing. The market for high end GPU's can't be very large or profitable AMD would probably find the move improves their core business and profit margins. The market does seem increasingly indifferent to AMD's GPU's while CPU sales remain strong.

Embedded sales crashing isn't surprising as gamers know that a new console generation isn't too far off. PS5 and Xbox Series X are going on 4 years old now and both manufacturers have stated they don't want the same gap in new console releases as we saw with the PS4 Xbone.

They just need more time for RDNA5. They are focusing on their CPU department now, se we just need to wait for thw GPU department to catch up. Accoring to leaks the 5000 RTX series will be a mislabelled generation drawing insane power and cooking your rig, so they have time.

"Intel is basically putting all the bad selling stuff with the good selling stuff" spot on lol.
The interesting thing is they still seem to be roughly breaking even, but they are trying to hide their mistakes.... Which is a company can't do if they want to get back on track. I'm glad they split off their foundry earning for example because now we know they are losing money on that and they need to get clients ASAP

I'm actually worried about keeping Intel on life support. Their last 2 "generations" of CPUs have serious problems from power consumption to failures in use. I hope their Battlemage CPU makes it into discrete cards, rather than just a mobile part. I want every competitor to succeed so they keep each other honest.

I honestly don't see how this companies think they would hold pricing power on the cosumer forever. The reason why prices stayed high was this stupid AI movement cost a lost and companies still seem to be delusioned to spend on AI and cut their workforce in the industry I work in but this isn't panning out so well.
Companies should focus on their product instead of adding shit that consumers don't want. So to point out the problems with each associated with the technology sector:
    - Game companies that focused heavily on live service model and gambled on it multiple times are rightfully failing hard. Just take a look at Microsoft, Ubisoft and Warner Brother...
    - Companies who focus on AI saw some gains but there is an floating article that adding more data is leading to a cap to performance.
It was a study done by stanford that was ironically supported by the companies that promote AI and heavily downplays the limits of it.
    - People in USA are realizing they actually don't have enough money to keep spending like idiots or are finally coming to grips on what it really costs to just keep borrowing money

bryan they were there with the efficiency, RDNA 2 is actually more efficient than RDNA 3, if you compare ampere with rdna 2, rdna2 is more efficient, 6800 xt vs 3080 stock TDP frame per frame, you can do that video.
rdna 3 is 1st gen MCM, idk if RDNA 4 MCM is cancelled or not, but whatever new comes out, will fix that efficiency problem.

Also I think GPUs are selling less coz crypto mining is ded and most people bought a GPU post pandemic now.

In my opinion, AMD's biggest mistake was not replacing the entire 6000 series with monolithic 6nm GPUs. AMD should have used the same CUs as the 7600. In particular the 6700 XT should have been replaced with a 6nm 7700 XT with 48 of the same CUs as the 7600. The 6700 could have then been replaced with a 7700 with 40 active CUs and a full 120bit bus. The 7700 XT should have had the same MSRP as the 6700 XT did, and the 7700, which would have had more performance than the 6700 XT, should have had the the same MSRP as the 6700 did.
