Just watched it, loved it!!!
i found that out lol and watched it btw...was great!!!
@@follc1991 where can I watch it?
I just watched it on VUDO, I don't know why but it has the same vibes with the movie called "se7en". It's so well done!
The Occupant is very good, but what made the film an instant classic/masterpiece for me is that "the bad guy" wins, he actually gets away with it.
Nice to see Marebito get a mention. It was shot in 8 days, I think, which is absurd. My favorite director, Shinya Tsukamoto, has an acting role in it, and to this day it's probably still Takashi Shimizu's most fascinating movie.
The Innocents was my favorite movie from last year. It feels like a Stephen King story. For a movie involving kids, it's really dark. Seeing kids in situations where there are real consequences and danger makes it was more intense and terrifying. The animal stuff was a little too much, but it sets up that the movie isn't messing around and no one is safe.
Yeah the animal parts messed me up đ„Č
Definite yes to a Spanish horror/thriller deep dive. Love what I've seen so far and need some more recommendations and I know you'll have some goodies
Thanks Daniel!
@@spookyastronauts oh, yes!! Iâd love this for a video of yours, too! đ
A big YES, dredge up those Spanish horror/thriller movies from the murky depths, go on! đ€
Iâd love to watch a video about Spanish horror and thriller! :)
Me too!
Same! I've seen quite a few but I'd like to see more
As a Norwegian who detest 90% of our movies, I'm actually a bit satisfied with how The Innocents turned out. Historically, some of our best movies were about childhood, youth, and growing up, so it kinda make sense that one of these films would get a horror twist. It reminded me quite a bit of Katsuhiro Otomo's Domu in places.
Hvor sĂ„ du filmen ? Er ikke pĂ„ Tv2 play , Viaplay eller Netflix her đ
@@bielsaway38 Her til lands gikk den pÄ kino i fjor hÞst.
It is a relief that we finally have some interesting film makers around, I've been avoiding Norwegian cinema for years now. Can't wait to watch The innocents now!
@@thehitherto5348 okei , har faktisk ikke hĂžrt om den fĂžr no . Skal prĂžve Ă„ finne den đ takk for svar
I think "Thelma" is by same writers as The Innocents. And similar naturalistic look and tone but with hightened realism. Checkout THELMA.
Yes please on the Spanish horror and thriller list!
3:05 - "I'm telling you, this is all the birth control I need" I laughed aloud. Sounds like a good film to see.
Yes yes please do the Spanish horror thriller đđŒđ
I haven't heard of the two spanish ones, so thanks for those!
I'd recommend you checking out The Sadness. It's a taiwanese infection horror that really pushes some boundaries in how brutal it gets.
It's currently not streaming anywhere, but if you have a region free player there are uncut german media- and stealbooks that include english subtitles that are getting released next week.
Iâm still waiting for it to come out! People havenât stopped talking about it!
In terms of neglected foreign horror, I think "In A Glass Cage" (1987) from Spain needs a LOT more attention. "House of Voices" is under-seen, from the same director who gave us "Martyrs." "Spider Forest" (2004) is a really good Korean psychological horror that feels like a David Lynch movie at times. "Diary" (aka "Mon seung") (2006) is an interesting Cantonese-language horror flick that feels like a psychological urban fantasy movie. "Miss Zombie" (2013) and "Strange Circus" (2005) are two of my favorite Japanese horror movies, but those rarely get mentioned.
Ok Iâve seen all of these apart from spider forest which I tried to find but canât! Diary and miss zombie. In a glass cage is so disturbing! Thanks for the recommendations
@@spookyastronauts - Thank you for the video. I've got a few movies to watch too.
Man, I'm a big horror fan but you've got my watch list backed up for months if not years!
Thank you so much for the heads-up concerning animal cruelty. Emma, you are a gem.
Found your channel recently and I love your succinct synopses and editing. Just all the information I want to hear but not enough to spoil the film. Keep up the great work!
Thank you
The Occupants was a new title for me! I added it to my watchlist. Thank you for catering to all of our weird tastes!
Yes do a list for Spanish Horror. I have seen a lot and I am wonderimg if I have missed any. I would recommend Rec, El Orfanato, Somos lo Que Hay off the top of my head
The orphanage is amazing!!!
@@spookyastronauts It is and I'm sure there are people who still haven't seen it yet.
I haven't seen any new disturbing horror in a while. I am glad you posted because I haven't heard of the occupants and the innocents. Will probably watch this weekend!!
i missed watching your videos so much!!! congrats on 100k emma
I think you might like the Belgian production "Calvaire" ("The Ordeal").
Yes Iâve seen it :)
Thatâs why I love this channel. It goes from a wholesome live chat celebration right back into disturbing foreign horror. Totally badass.
Great video. I would definitely be interested in watching a video specifically on Spanish horror/thrillers.
Thanks
I would *love* a Spanish horror video! Thank you so much for this list, all of them sound so cool! :)
His House...is that a foreign film? Either way, it's so, SO good.
There's also Sleep Tight, The Loved Ones, Inside, Timecrimes, and Tigers are not Afraid. All underrated.
Thanks for the recommendations, Emma. A few more titles to add to my watch list.
I saw Marebito way back when it first came out on DVD rental, but I'm going to give it another watch. There is one Italian film called "I'm Not Scared" (2003, aka Lo Non Ho Paura) that I remember being quite disturbing when I saw it in the theatre. Set in 1970's Italy, the story is about a young boy who discovers a kidnapped child in a field pit and the fear that someone in the boy's rural town is the kidnapper.
Ooo thank you! I didnât have that one down
Yes please, I'd love a Spanish horror/thriller video! Great recommendations, can't wait to watch these. Two other great German films I've watched in the past year or so were Goodnight Mommy and Tesis (Thesis). Though you might well have been the one to recommend these in the first place.
Great list Emma, definitely some new recommendations for my watch list there. Marebito is a seriously creepy movie and Sleep Tight is an absolute gem. My neglected horror addition are the Wailing and the Unborn
I love these videos, thanks Emma
I don't know if you've mentioned this movie before on your channel as I'm fairly new, but The Loved Ones is really good and disturbing horror movie! It's also the only Australian movie I've seen up to this point.
Lola is a legend around these parts!
@@isaacthompson9100 interesting info đ
We have so many great horror films! Try lake mungo, babadook, wolf creek, wake in fright!
@@spookyastronauts oh, how I loved the Babadook!
@@spookyastronauts Totally forgot about The Babadook! Make that 2 Australian movies I've seen. Will definitely check out the others, thanks!
Thank you, Miss Emma for the animal sensitivity warnings! I don't care if it's not real, I can't stand to hear or see any harm come to animals! For instance, I got so angry when the stupid mother killed the little boy's dog in Babadook! It was so unnecessary!
love your recommendations, emma!
i'd recommend to anyone that likes foreign horror 'history of the occult', an argentinian horror movie that's SO original and so underrated!!
What an amazing list. I haven't heard of any of these and they all sound so good.
Great list, Emma!!
Great vid watching the sadness uncut tonight cant wait
Adding to the list, thanks Emma!! đ€đ€
Holy shit, youâre the first one outside of Germany I hear talking about Antikörper / Antibodies! Even here in Germany this is a rather unknown movie, I never understood why! Itâs so good, & I hope more ppl discover it through your recommendation! Also Iâll check out The Innocents as soon as itâs in cinemas over here. Thanks for the great content always!
Many thanks for recommending "The Occupant." Just watched in on Netflix. So good.
Yes to the Spanish horror video, what a great idea Emma! You'll have some great ones to work with!! I adored Sleep Tight, don't know how it's not mentioned more often. Also like The House at the End of Time, and The Skin I Live In. It would be a huge project, but so so fun if you could do a series about horror movies from a whole bunch of different countries đ„°đ
Haven't heard of any of them aside from Marebito, which is not only one of my all time fave horror films, but all time fave films in general, the atmosphere that sinks into you while watching it is a genuine experience!! and the Director is a huge Lovecraft fan which totally shows in this film, I think it may have been him that made 'Kotoko' as well, another of my all time faves.
So thanks for the tips Em, I just finished Bly manor last night so I was on the lookout for something new, perfect timing ;)
Great vid, thanks! I have a lot of trouble finding good foreign horror and thrillers. I found some east asian stuff but was still only familiar with Noroi! You always find a lot of movies I haven't seen so thanks again!
It blows me away that I've heard of zero of these movies and I'll probably check them all out. You are the best recommender, thank you so much! Also very funny today, "anti-Amelie"...best. Long time appreciator, first time commentor. Love your content! Keep it coming please
I've seen "The Occupants" and "Sleep Tight". Loved them both. I intend to watch the other three you mentioned, and will search them out. Great show!
Excellent video! Some real gems and some I haven't seen yet.
Thanks for watching
Oh thanks so much I love foreign horror so all recommendations appreciated.
Yes please, Emma for the Spanish horrors video!! cheersâđ»âđ»đđ»đđ»
id recommend danish horror "breeder (2020)" i watched it recently, very disturbing... also russian classic "cargo 200 (2007)" really messed me up
Ooo thank you Simon
where can I watch it?
@@donndior1536 breeder i think is on amazon, and cargo 200 is free on youtube
Spanish cinematography in general is outstanding. A video on Spanish psychological thrillers/horrors would be amazing!
Sleep Tight was amazing, the ending gave me the chills. I really liked Goodnight Mommy and Atrocious which was a Spanish horror movie. The ending of that stayed with me for days.
Yes, Spanish horror and thrillers. Great video!
Already did this a whole ago :)
Great suggestions - yes please on the Spanish Horrors!
Great vid Emma, foreign extreme horror is my jam.
Have you seen the Belgium thriller The Treatment? Also, the new Korean zombie horror The Sadness.
I think you will love both of these.
Never heard of Marebito so cheers for the recommendation đ
Emma! I don't know if you've watched them already but "thesis"and "open your eyes" ( the source material for vanilla sky) are two excellent Spanish thrillers. Both by Amenavar if I'm not mistaken ( the others).Hugs from Spain! đ»
Thanks for the warning
of harming animals in the movies.
Ina Glass Cage is one of the most disturbing and depressing foreign horror movies that Iâve seen
Loved this list! Iâm really hoping that the innocents comes to streaming platforms like ASAP. Also it made me so happy to see sleep tight on this list! Itâs such an underrated gem and it really stuck with me from the first viewing. I also think itâs time I finally give Marebito a shot too. â€ïž
Great review đ
Thank you for this video! I watched The Occupant and The Paramedic and loved them both. I watched a couple other Spanish Thrillers that I'd recommend at least watching once. They're called Twin Murders and El Pacto (The Pact).
Sleep Tight so disturbing! Yes please do recommendations for Spanish horror/thriller movies đâ€ïž
Great video Emma! Sleep Tight and Marebito are great! đ
Please do the video of Spanish thrillers. As I grew older I appreciate more and more the thrillers, stalker films and home invasion ones and there aren't many recommendations of these anywhere
I love Sleep Tight! So creepy.
I'll watch The Occupant right now đ
Thanks for the recs!
Enjoy!
I will check these out, thanks, Emma. Do you know "Creep" from 2004 with Franka Potente? nobody ever talks about that one. I don't understand. with great sound design by "The Insects" which creates a fantastic and disturbing Horror atmosphere.
Also I will recommend the body and invisible guest, both spanish thrillers. They are great!
Thank you for this list! I think I'm going to rent "Antibodies" through Amazon Prime tonight. Looking forward to seeing this one based on your description.
âcureâ a 1997 japanese psychological horror is one of the best movies iâve seen in years. itâs sort of ASMR se7en, but less dated. itâs got a 4k print but not released yet :( same director has done a bunch of horror films including âpulseâ from 2001 which is excellent, and has i think the scariest ghost scene of ANY film đ»
'Nothing Bad Can Happen' is a psychologically potent German film I seldom hear mentioned.
Since you mentioned The Occupant, a movie I enjoyed recently is Dream Home from 2010. It's a Cat III movie, but many of them don't get recognized as people usually focus on the Anthony Wong films like Ebola Syndrome and Untold Story. This one stood out to me for it's brutal kills and black comedy. The character here goes to extreme lengths to get her "dream home".
Also +1 on joining you in the rabbit hole for Spanish horrors and thrillers.
The occupant was a film I loved last year
I have recently started to dive deeper into foreign disturbing films and Indonesia has some great titles the forbidden door being one of my favorites.
Oooo Iâm not sure if Iâve seen that one
Iâm going to watch the occupant today! Thanks for the recommendations. I still recommend, Elizabeth Harvest, itâs one of my favorites. I really think youâll like it.
I highly recommend the spanish psychological drama The Dead Mother (La madre muerta - 1994) by Juanma Bajo-Ulloa, one of my favourite movies ever. It's on Netflix I think.
And yes, spanish cinema has many gems, would love to see a vid with your top 10.
Nice. I think I only saw Sleep Tight, The Occupant and Antibodies. So that means I have a few to go. Heard the names in passing but never checked them out.
âThe Anti-Amelieâ was all I needed to hear.
Have you seen Tesis (Thesis)? Itâs great!
In the world of Spanish horror, I love Secuestrados, I am just obsessed with long takes.
Yes! I just watched that!
Sleep Tight is an absolute gem!
Amores Perros is a great disturbing Spanish drama but at times it feels more like a horror film with the anguish the characters go through.
Another one to skip if you are a dog or animal lover thie film contines realistic scenes of dog fighting and deaths however its used as a metaphor for the characters.
Graet movie. Only it's mexican not spanish
The Paramedic is also a good film for those who liked The Occupant and Sleep Tight - the only two I've seen on this list, but I loved both. Will have to check out the others.
I've seen Marebito and Sleep Tight...I look forward to more videos on more foreign horror movie. If I remember any off the top of my head I'll drop them in a comments section of one of your vids. Thanksđâđ»
I recommend Juliaâs eyes. It is a thriller suspense Spanish movie
The Innocents was like a good Chronicle.
Good video. Marebito and Sleep Tight are great. The best foreign thriller Iâve seen is a French film, 13 Tzameti. 10 Rillington Place is another good one. Itâs British so I guess it qualifies.
I have seen Sleep Tight. It will make you wonder how your HOA is being spent. At times you might find yourself empathizing with a creep, and let down that redemption is elusive
I saw Antibodies a while back. I thought it was excellent!
"The Sadness" Taiwanese Zombie Horror Film on Shudder is grotesque and deeply disturbing.
Itâs Taiwanese not Japanese
@@spookyastronauts My Bad! My mistake. Thank you for letting me know.
Do you know "El castillo de la pureza" (The castle of purity)? A disturbing mexican thriller, based on real events, of a family that remains sequestered by a psychotic abusive parent
Ooo I donât think I have
@@spookyastronauts Maybe more of a disturbing film/drama than thriller now that I think about it. But I think it's right up your alley
I havenât seen any of these films. Emma bless you I have plans for the rest of the week.
Thanks! Enjoy!
As a Spaniard i can notice an increase in the production of this genre the last few years. Let me put on your radar two recent movies: "No matarĂĄs (Cross the line)" and "Quien a hierro mata (Eye for an eye)". They could fit in your video đ§
I loved Sleep Tight! I've got The Innocents in my queue but haven't gotten around to it yet. Marebito I've seen but I have zero recollection of. The clips just look like Noroi to me, but with Shinya Tsukamoto :D
Some Spanish language horror/thrillers worth a watch
Tesis, (the vibe)
The Baby's Room (Alex de la Iglesia & Javier Gutierrez)
The Skin I Live In (SpookAss approved)
We Are What We Are (the Jim Mickle remake is also very good)
Veronica (surprisingly sad with effective scares for a very familiar film)
In A Glass Cage (eesh)
We Are the Flesh (that the director has yet to make another film is both surprising and not at all surprising)
I always rec the 2010 HK film Dream Home for folks who enjoy dark humor and extreme violence. I'm about to watch de la Igesia"s new flick Veneciafrenia right after I post.
Yes Spanish horror movie video!
German horror is my request.
Shrew's Nest!!!!!
Only seen "Sleep Tight", loads on my to seek out list
I have only heard of The Innocents. It received very good reviews here in Sweden, so IÂŽm quite curious to see it. From what IÂŽve read about it, "disturbing" is just the right word to describe it.
I just realized IÂŽve been missing watching Spanish horror/thrillers. I fell in love with Spanish horror when I saw The Orphanage in the cinema and since then seen a few really good ones. IÂŽm putting Sleep tight and The occupant on my to watch-list. Thanks for the tips!
I've never seen The Burning Moon (German) get much love on any horror-related sites like this, which is a bit strange. Its 20-min depiction of Hell helps scratch the "what-if" itch of the EH Transylvania salt mine tape.
Probably because itâs very low budget. I mean Olaf Ittenbach (especially his old movies like The Burning Moon, Premutos, Black PastâŠ) are known among underground splatter fanatics. But itâs not really for everyone.
@@dertodesking8379 Well yes, but the same can be, and most certainly is, said for disturbing cinema, non?

I would be very interested in a spanish film recommendations video. One no one seems to mention is marshland. Also the fury of a patient man had me on the edge of my seat.
Thatâs at the top of my list after seeing him in The Occupant, I just watched The Motive!
Very original recommendations, Emma... I only saw " The innocents " and " Sleep tight " (In España it is called: Mientras duermes, while you sleep) and wold be a pleasure, if you make a video about horror spanish. Did you see movie " Cronos " 1993, directed by Guillermo del toro?
Yes! I think Iâve seen all Del Toros films heâs awesome
The Korean film 2010 no mercy was very dark and twisted....messed me up for a while lol
Sleep Tight is so good. Absolutely diabolical!
I adore Spanish horror!!! Yes please! đ€
