I’m devastated after mri showed I have Osteo Arthiritis and spinal stenosis in lower back! My leg and feet start getting numb and extremely painful very quickly on walking around the house.
I’m going to do these exercises and sure enough should help. Thank you so much, been so depressed as I’m a very active and hard working person.
I started getting back stress and pain a few years ago, bending fwd washing dishes n cooking at home. I’ll have to reset my chores. Thank you again and bless you.

Mri from middle age or after injuries will not be that of an injury free 20 year old and you have to find workarounds to reduce pain triggers and build them into your day. Good luck.

The recliner works great for naps but I need to move around a bit at night. I invested in a Stearns and Foster mattress with the the ajustable frame. I put it in the zero gravity position with a pillow under my knees and
I just sink into a soft comfortable sleep. It was very expensive but I look at it this way: I spend 8 hours of good sleep in this bed and that is spending one third of my life there. I just wish I had done it sooner!

Dr. David, I just finished your 28 day program....man, have I gotten better. I was sleeping around 3-4 hours a night and now I'm backc to my normal of 6-7. My overall soreness has probably decreased by about 75- percent throughout the day. I'm going to cycle through another 28 days to improve upon those numbers even more.

Thank you for this. I was diagnosed with lumbar stenosis in L3-4, L4-5, and L 5-S1 along with herniated disks L3-S1. I have psoriatic arthritis that and the weight gain I had with my kids they destroyed my back because I didn't show any physical signs of my arthritis until years down the line. I've been diagnosed for a while but I've learned more from you that my doctor and the rounds of physical therapists I've seen. I was able to walk majority of the way through Costco today and know how to ensure I can walk tomorrow.
Without your videos that trip to Costco would have planted me wherever my body decided to give out for a few days until my back decided to relax. Now I got home took some nsaids, did a wet heating pad on my back and then used the massage gun you recommend in this video and took a nap and did some light stretches and I could do that without aid from my husband.
Nothing is worse than being under 40 and be in so much pain when you wake up that even the roll bar you got isn't helping because you spine and the muscles around it refuse to do anything without excruciating pain.

Dear lady I’m not one to tell you to loss wt to help your back you have probably already heard that. What helped me the most was going keto and getting rid of the carbs. Yes, I lost weight but also I don’t wake with the pain I had. The pain wasn’t just my spine but my feet hurt as soon as the hit the floor. I couldn’t make a fist in the morning. The carbs feed the inflammation. One crazy side effect of keto was my ugly skin tags on my neck went away. Really, it’s a thing. Hope you continue to do well on your journey. I just wanted to share the biggest thing that helped me. I don’t have to sleep in a recliner any more.

Last year I went to the hospital emergency department in Sydney Australia with a shooting pain in my groin that caused a severe panic attack. They put me in a recliner and I actually dozed off it was so comfortable.
It was gut related with associated lumbar spine and sciatica pain.

My MRI shows severe stenosis. I completed your 28 day back program which helped quite a bit. I don’t think I’ll ever be pain-free. I bought a Tempur-pedic electric bed which helps a good bit. I also have an electric hand massager which I use every night. I’m still not sure I am going to be able to avoid minimally invasive surgery, so I am praying for wisdom. the pain really limits my sitting time which is frustrating because I love to travel. Three years ago I found that sleeping on my back helped to relieve some of the pain. I used to sleep on my side de. I also bought a Tempur pedic mattress which is helpful. I used weed for the nerve pain, it kind of backfired. Seemed to work, but then my muscles were so relaxed that my bones lost the little support they had and it didn't help with that pain, it made it hurt sooner if anything.

You're welcome @user-ik6tr4lf1v!!! The best adjustable bed position for stenosis is to lie on your back with the back elevated and the legs elevated. Similar to how you would lie on a recliner. In fact, many people with spinal stenosis that don't have an adjustable bed get the best sleep on their recliners.

Ah my doctor told me the lumbar stenosis was arthritis. Just reinforces my lack of confidence in her as a doctor. I am looking for a new doctor anyway. I have foraminal stenosis in my neck, C4 I think. In the past year I have discovered that I have sleep apnoea, so I think sleeping in a recliner might not be good for that (being on my back makes me snore). My daughter has one of those adjustable beds with the memory foam mattress or topper and when I pet sit I sleep in her bed and my Fitbit tells me that I deep sleep twice as long as I do in my own bed. I had no idea that lumbar stenosis could be cured and was surprised to hear you say as much. I’ve been in pain for years with my two spinal stenosis. One doctor said I should probably have an operation on my neck sooner rather than later but I am not inclined to. Everyone I have ever known who has had spinal surgery regrets it and says their quality of life got worse and not better. I make myself go for a 20 or sometimes 30 minute walk but I’m quite often fatigued by it but I’m trying to keep a certain level of fitness and keep moving. Thanks for the stretches and exercises, I have subscribed

Dear man! All your videos are at least 8 months old. I wish I had come across you sooner. I hope you still look in on new comments. Would you please address the condition of scoliosis when combined with stenosis? I have both and was told by the surgeon that the stenosis is mild, yet cannot stand more than 8 minutes and can only walk upright for about 15 before I have to lean over. That tells me the scoliosis is the main culprit yet the symptoms are stenosis times 5. I have done many of your exercises and they have helped me get from 5 minutes to 8 minutes. Anything else I should be doing?? Thank you!

    • @epmanualphysicaltherapy
      @epmanualphysicaltherapy  Před 11 měsíci

Hey Gul! Sorry to hear about the numbing you experience after a night a sleep this is not uncommon as the body is not significantly active during sleeping hours so general stiffness and tightness can occur. We can't really answer exactly what could be causing this as we don't have information on your diagnosis. As far as your question on pelvic tilt - Yes we absolutely recommend it this will allow you to perform the exercise correctly.

What do you suggest be done if someone also has osteoarthritis as well as DDD, osteoporosis and broke their hip and had a replacement which doesn't seem to be doing well and they simply do not get sleep at all? My husband has suggested we get an adjustable bed.

Bro honestly love all tips shared but heres one for size coz I hate pillow work, try on for size 3 plastic bottles at night yall, for simpler design, simpler position, simpler process I can vouch it works wonders that is if you can manage 3 cylinder plastics in bed w you I never had more peaceful easy sleep bro

    Well now…this is pretty disappointing.
Just kidding, of course. Over the years, I’ve already figured out all of these tips. They work!
One thing I’ve done that helps that you didn’t mention: I cut a hole out of my mattress topper just where the facet joints seem especially sharp.
Side-sleeping isn’t possible for me due to trochanteric bursitis.

Hey Sandra! Sorry to hear that you've got pain behind your knees :-(
Pull in your knees from behind your thighs so you don't force your knees to bend into pain.

Severe osteoporosis and lumbar stenosis. This week i cannot lift buttock off bed to move in bed. It causes pain. Even placing hands beneath buttock to reposition is barely feasible.

      Hi Dr. El Paso,
I am thinking of joining your 28 days program. I have suffered from low back pain for one year. The pain started with mild discomfort to today sharp pain on my buttocks and leg. I have X-rays and MRI, it show severe stenosis on L4,5. And arthritis on S 1, with lots of impingement on nerve roots. I wonder if the 28 days program suit my situation. I’m on Tylenol for Arthritis daily in order to go to gym and swimming. Please let me know of your opinion . Thank you very much. Susan
