    Great game. I love the way Timo gives the opponent the 'finger' after a net, error, or just a great shot from himself!

    the stronger the opponents are, the more aggressive Zhang Ji Ke will play. that should be the characteristic of all Top player.

    At 8:00, as Zhang Jike recalled after the match, "That rally caused my waist to go numb for a moment. I didn't dare to make big movements from that point on and was playing in a more conservative way which allowed Boll to catch up with me to 3:3."
    Note: Zhang Jike's waist was injured in the training before coming to the tournament and he took steroid injection on the injured site which has worn off even before he came to Germany.

    Видно Тимо был на пике своей формы. Одолел Овчарова, но досадно отдал 2 своих сета Жан Жике, ведя в обоих 6:2... А мог играть в финале..

    Jike was difficult to play against Timo. Because Timo Boll plays perfectly close to the table.
    He lost only because they did not have enough speed and reaction.

  • @Hesselaer

    You’re all talking about the amount of mistakes, this WC the ball had just been changed and no one was used to it, you see they hit a lot of the balls with the edge. This is because plastic ball bounces higher.

    3:14 Come on ZJK! Usually he's amazing at catching up after being way down (for example, 7-10 against Wang Hao, 6-10 against Ma Long, 5-10 against Chuang Chih-Yuan)

      Maybe. Sidenote: Zhang Jike isn't the only one who saved a 6-10 versus Ma Long. Click READ MORE to find out who played and what the result was.
      Here are the spoilers:
      Three people, all Chinese, saved a 6-10 against Ma Long.
      Chen Qi was one of the three, saving a 6-10 in the seventh set. However, after making a deuce Ma Long won the next two points to win 12-10.
      Zhang Jike was another one (of course). After the score was leveled (in the 7th game), Ma Long got two more matchpoints that Zhang Jike saved: 12-12. Then Zhang Jike got a matchpoint of his own, but Ma Long saved it (it was also a very good point). Then, Ma Long continued to win the next two points: 15-13.
      Xu Xin was the last of the three. He was down 2-0 in sets, but he won the third one after being down 10-6 (I think he actually won it 12-10). However, Ma Long won the next set (it was a 3 out of 5 match).
      So... it seems that nobody actually BEAT Ma Long.

    • @Mikhail_Stasov

      I'm not arguing the "well-known fact". I was simply asking. Just wondering why he preferred it than the ZLC.

    Why do i feel that was Boll's last chance to beat one of the best Chinese? For much of the match Zhang didn't play well, and he was ripe for the taking. I hope I'm wrong but I don't see Boll as another Walder or Samsonov, capable of pulling out some spectacular wins in his late thirties. He's nice to watch, plays some subtle often brilliant shots. But fundamentally he lacks power. As for the way he hits his forehand.........I can just see better technique in Zhang and Ma Long. If only Walder was 20 years younger!

    • @mortuc1
      @mortuc1 Před 5 lety +1

      @. Actually thats just so wrong. Watch interviews of him. He constantly says that he changed his playstyle cuz hes not as fit as he used to be and thus adapted his play not to be focused around his athletic abilities.

    • @dickn.ormous1064
      @dickn.ormous1064 Před 5 lety

      He had to get to his late 30's to start exploring other ways of constructing a point besides slow looping.In his prime he couldn't block or push at all.That's why his game was easily dismantled by the Chinese.

      @@dickn.ormous1064 agreed, just look how helpless he looked against Waldner and Oh Sang Eun at the olympics. today, he doesn't have the consistency, speed and footwork he had when he was younger, but now he's playing much smarter with more experience :)
