As a frenchman who loves Timo Boll but supporting Félix on this match, watching it gave me mixed emotions! Amazing play by both. We'll miss you Timo, you are the embodiment of class and fairplay, and you showed your talent to the world for two decades. Thank you for everything.

I don't think Ma Long will ever play till 43 years old. Most Olympics Champions retire early like ZYN but Ma Long probably is still playing because the younger Chinese players are still a less skilled as compared to the level of him and ZJK. The world ranking is a BS anyway. If they're playing in the Chinese League, their rankings there will be shockingly low.

Timo showed that he is still right up there with the best in the world, that is absolutely amazing. This match could have gone either way. But kinda cool that his international tournament career ends against Felix who is half his age and the next generation. The cycle closes.

very tough game mentally for Felix. he did a great job fighting through a better opponent. Timo showed why he is such a challenging player against younger opponents because of his wide variety play style. Great game, Felix and his brother are my favorite players to watch right now. Timo show great composure and i appreciate his gamemanship.
Timo war in meiner Jugend ab und an im tv zu sehen. Wir hatten jetzt in der Firma ein Tischtennis Turnier und uns Jungs hat der Sport extrem Spaß gemacht. Ich wusste garnicht das Timo immer noch aktiv ist. Der Sport ist extrem geil anzusehen 🥳

The last point of the match, Felix reacted to a tough shot by blocking. It was a weak block but the slower ball actually screwed up the timing from Timo. Timo is one old wise player.

I see that many of the rising star from this generation all have the same weakness, they seem to all struggle against heavy spinny topspin players like Timo, Jang woojin and if Xu Xin was still at his prime today he could be a trouble for Harimoto and Lin yun-ju both whom have never beaten Xu Xin yet before he retired
Xu Xin recently claimed he would win against Lebruns even if he plays them today. Now you will understand why I will need a talk with Boll.
@@user-ih4vy8ty5h That is what I was trying to point out here is that Timo did cause a lot of trouble to Felix because of his spinny shots that the younger generation have trouble against but there's no need to say Timo is disgrace he is already impressive enough. We can already see Felix had trouble playing against Jang Woo Jin who is FH dominate spinny looping style similar to Xu Xin and that's simply my point it's all to do with style countering style nothing to do with certain player or nationality
@@david0ade I may be flamed or misunderstood by you but I'll say again in a different way. I'd rather Timo loses to someone like WCQ, Liang, Hugo, Fan, Franziska, the current Malong than the Lebrun brothers who are absolutely not on par with anyone I mentioned above.
Maybe because Timo and the likes of Xu Xin and Ma Long used to learn their craft with the older ball. Gauzy was able to win once vs Xu Xin because he's a spin wizard ( Both are) for instance. Since the new ball was introduced power is now more important than spin. That's a theory.
@@user-co9wi2lj2j Yeah I agree with the newer ball it's lesser about spin. In the old ball era, you can see most of the top players like Timo, Ma Long, Jike etc. would have no problem playing against the top chopper, with the newer ball today, the top chopper although they too will struggle and can't rely on just chopping but the newer generation top players like Harimoto, Lin Yun-Ju also struggles against the top chopper they can still beat the chopper but not by outstanding margin.

@@Rob93WLR The young Timo was number 1 in the world several times and destroyed all his opponents. If you had already lived there, you would be able to better assess the level. even at 43 he almost defeated Lebrun.
Especially since Boll had to train under significantly worse conditions and did not have the many technical innovations and options that exist today.

This game was close it could have gone either way. Timo is near his retirement age and he can still cause so much trouble to a rising star isn't that impressive enough? Lin has been off form ever since he joined Fan for a party anyway. Harimoto? I rate him around the same level as the Lebruns. The 3 of them usually allow their emotions to get better of themselves as they slip up in the series.
