Note: To modify pen settings beyond "pen 1" make sure all objects are not selected. If you want to change your "Mark Contour" or outline pen for an object, choose the colored blocks while an object is selected. This messed me up a few times. Great vid Alex!
I'm trying to change my pen settings to create a test grid and every time I change a new pen setting it changes all of them even though no other objects or pens are selected. Any tips?
Just want to tell you that thanks to your channel I managed to purchase a great fibre laser straight from manufacturer, import it to Netherlands. Start it and calibrate everything. And 5min ago I engrave first piece of some scrap metal! The help and knowlage that you guys share is amazing!

Alex i want to thank you so very much for all you do for the Fiber laser owners ,iam the poster child to KISS i have had my 30w Fiber for about a month now and pretty much everything i have learned from massive You Tube Vids is yours you make things far better for us new owners i would venture that for every 10 Fiber laser units purchased 4 get left just setting because of the massive gap in understanding China based software and the fact we has Americans do not for the most part get much from a sound less video from over there. My supplier has been good to deal with even thou the time change is about 14 hour response time he helped me with some set up issues and corrupted EZCAD software that came with the machine... In todays world there are two many here on You Tube that just show off there laser skills with head banging back ground music newbies like me learn nothing from this... Laser Everything hands down has been my go to for learning what really is a steep learning curve for a average guy like me . I joined the discord not real sure how to use it and iam going to become a patreon member with you as the Parm lib would be such a big help for me as a Gun Smith of 24 yrs having example the P mag settings is big for me who wants to distroy 20 dollar Pmags learning. I recently contacted Diaotu who for assistance I had them correct my issue through TeamViewer it took them a little bit of time to figure it out but they finally corrected my issue and my machine works great

hey thx for this demo , what is the Hatch colors for, why would i choose red or blue or black pens , when laser engraving will all be colorless, ( when to use different color pens and whats the effect of it on objects, my 2nd question is about the angle ( from lense to the object it is 90 degrees right? ) so u said something like 45 & -45 can u educate us more about that coz im confused
pens are for if you want to use multiple settings on the same project, each pen color represents a different setting - doesn't have anything to do with the actual color of the mark. Also the angle between the galvo and the surface is 90 degrees, yes. The hatch degree setting refers to the direction the lines are engraved when the engraving is happening. 0 degrees would be left to right, 90 would be up and down 45 would be diagonal.

Is there a setting in variable text that would allow text on a curve with a base angle chosen (say 135) and also an angle range chosen to (say 90) for the characters to be a fixed height and spacing unless the text string needs to scale down to fit inside the angle range selected ?
Not much, some artificial limitations imposed in software. Contollers have some differences on how they handle extension axis controls but it's specific to the board. EzLite doesn't have any wobble and handles jump delays a little differently than Ez2. Most differences will be rectified with lightburn when released.
Honestly not sure, they seem to do the same thing when they're used. Not convinced there is a technical difference between them but I haven't looked it up in the manual either.
I do a lot of barcoding , and its real slow how can I speed it up to go faster but still burn bar code dark enough to scan, also i noticed when the first bar code starts its light and gets darker 1/3 of the way through the bar code , i do 5 barcodes at a time and always the first code is lighter
Depends on your material, settings and lasers. I am using the software Glaser that came with my Gweike G2 20 watt fiber laser. The program looks identical to Ezcad2. I am a member of mastereverthing. I downloaded the param file, however, it looks as though the configuration of glaser is different than Ezcad. Do you know which file should be replaced in order for the params to appear in the select from param dialog?
They're probably using a proprietary file format. If you run your downloaded file through the Shark Laser Param Converter on our website you should be able to export it as an excel file and input them manually.
I've a question to you. Someone told me that if i use high speed like 9000 mm/s or 15000 mm/s it'll damage my galvo head is it true? i use high speed coz i need to engrave Led Bulb everyday around 5000 pc. So could you plz answer my question so i can alert Thanks.
I can't comment on damage per se. I almost never run the machine at those speeds except for experiments for channel research. When I do it's infrequent and for short amounts of time. I couldn't say what the effect will be on the galvo head over extended periods. Most galvo heads are only accurate up to about 4,000mm/s and many of them are only rated for absolutely maximum inaccurate use at 7-10kmm/s. Results at that speed are unreliable at best. Anything above that and you're really pushing the motors harder than their designed to go. I dont think damage is out of the question but I can't say one way or the other with any certainty.
If you get text centered where you want it you can 'center justify' the text in the ezcad text options like you would in microsoft word or other word processors. Doing so should accomplish what you're asking for. Will be on the left hand side of the window under text properties when you have the text selected.
I really like your video's you do a great job. I see you have the lightburn software on your laptop as well. Can you import lightburn files into ezcad.
The topics beyond "101" are complicated so I've been producing stand alone episodes about the additional features so we can focus on one at a time. They're around and there are more coming.
I have a 50W machine laser fiber machine with rotary. I want to engrave my guns. What design software could I get and what settings do I engrave guns metals.
I would try Illustrator or Inkscape for design software, which you'll then be importing to ezcad. As far as settings you can mess around with any of the settings found here on the channel, join our discord community and see what's going on there and what people are using OR you can sign up for the patreon and download my entire fiber laser parameter library which will jump start you on various metals found in the firearm engraving world. hello, I have the 2016 30w fiber optic laser engraver with the lmcusb_ipg_ CO2 version 2016. The Lenovo laptop using Windows 7 OS that was sent to me with correct specifications that allowed it to install from the machine's dongle is now shot. I now have an ASUS VivoBook Flip 14 with Windows 10 OS which does not see the laser machine when it is plugged in but it makes the sound when connected. I also have windows 7 running Virtual System on the ASUS incase it requires the older OS. But when I plug in usb dongle to Virtual Windows 7 I cannot see the dongle and Laser says Unknown Device on both Windows 10 and Windows 7 under device manager. I have the x64 bit OS and x64 based processor. Please help me identify correct laptop/specs to access dongle and install the EZCad2 to recognize laser . thank you!

I work on the version ez cad2.12.1 and look at the same, but it's a nightmare when you just need to select everything and you want to use CTRL+A command. Because is not working. copy, paste, redo works with keys, but select all doesn't. You need to use the mouse to press that button. Or is different comand for selecting all.

Nothing, they're completely identical and they're only there so you can stack hatches if needed. For almost everything hatch #2 and hatch #3 will be off unless you specifically need them on for something.
When I join patron : and down load parameter library (30w 110mm x 110mm) will it work with your library. IF I have a 30w 150mm x150mm ??????? or do I need a new Lenz or ???
50W fiber laser attempting to create a QDR code with 3 lines of data, part #, a sequence line for serialization, and last night a date line. I am laser engraving on a black delrin plastic, what is the best settings for the laser? Not having luck in the QDR code being able to be read by a scanner.
Hey Angela, here's a recommendation from one of our Laser Master Academy members: Standard hatch, 0.04 line space, 3500mm/s 30%power (20w) 20 khz, loop count 5 😀
I would make a post in the Discord Server or Facebook Group if you can with some photos so we can see what's happening and that will help us diagnose the issue.
That's a bit beyond anything we've gotten into, and I'm not sure on that. Ezcad does have some access to automation, but not something we've dove into. As a starting point, you may be able to utilize the variable text functionality.

HELP!! I have some text that I made in Fusion 360 and exported as a dxf file. I import the vector file to EZCAD but when I try to hatch the text only some of the letter hatch. Any Idea why this is happening?
Providing support via CZcams comments is super difficult for more complicated issues but I would say definitely join either the Discord server or Facebook group and you'll get help from me or others super fast. I'll watch that later to the end...but do you have an idea of how to update the ?drivers? when changing from XP to WIN10 with EZCAD 14.11? The latter does not recognise "the dog" (=dongle=running laser machine) any more. The old computer still can operate the machine, so there's nothing defect.

How do you work the Ezcad 3!?
Ezcad 3 is almost EXACTLY the same expect a few of the buttons have different names and there are a couple extra features.
I also set „Jump Speed“ to 500 and small details are more crisp.

I recently contacted Diaotu who for assistance I had them correct my issue through TeamViewer it took them a little bit of time to figure it out but they finally corrected my issue and my machine works great

hey thx for this demo , what is the Hatch colors for, why would i choose red or blue or black pens , when laser engraving will all be colorless, ( when to use different color pens and whats the effect of it on objects, my 2nd question is about the angle ( from lense to the object it is 90 degrees right? ) so u said something like 45 & -45 can u educate us more about that coz im confused
pens are for if you want to use multiple settings on the same project, each pen color represents a different setting - doesn't have anything to do with the actual color of the mark. Also the angle between the galvo and the surface is 90 degrees, yes. The hatch degree setting refers to the direction the lines are engraved when the engraving is happening. 0 degrees would be left to right, 90 would be up and down 45 would be diagonal.

Is there a setting in variable text that would allow text on a curve with a base angle chosen (say 135) and also an angle range chosen to (say 90) for the characters to be a fixed height and spacing unless the text string needs to scale down to fit inside the angle range selected ?

Not much, some artificial limitations imposed in software. Contollers have some differences on how they handle extension axis controls but it's specific to the board. EzLite doesn't have any wobble and handles jump delays a little differently than Ez2. Most differences will be rectified with lightburn when released.

Honestly not sure, they seem to do the same thing when they're used. Not convinced there is a technical difference between them but I haven't looked it up in the manual either.
I do a lot of barcoding , and its real slow how can I speed it up to go faster but still burn bar code dark enough to scan, also i noticed when the first bar code starts its light and gets darker 1/3 of the way through the bar code , i do 5 barcodes at a time and always the first code is lighter
Depends on your material, settings and lasers. I am using the software Glaser that came with my Gweike G2 20 watt fiber laser. The program looks identical to Ezcad2. I am a member of mastereverthing. I downloaded the param file, however, it looks as though the configuration of glaser is different than Ezcad. Do you know which file should be replaced in order for the params to appear in the select from param dialog?
They're probably using a proprietary file format. If you run your downloaded file through the Shark Laser Param Converter on our website you should be able to export it as an excel file and input them manually.
I've a question to you. Someone told me that if i use high speed like 9000 mm/s or 15000 mm/s it'll damage my galvo head is it true? i use high speed coz i need to engrave Led Bulb everyday around 5000 pc. So could you plz answer my question so i can alert

I can't comment on damage per se. I almost never run the machine at those speeds except for experiments for channel research. When I do it's infrequent and for short amounts of time. I couldn't say what the effect will be on the galvo head over extended periods. Most galvo heads are only accurate up to about 4,000mm/s and many of them are only rated for absolutely maximum inaccurate use at 7-10kmm/s. Results at that speed are unreliable at best. Anything above that and you're really pushing the motors harder than their designed to go. I dont think damage is out of the question but I can't say one way or the other with any certainty.
Is there a way to lock a text box to specific x y coordinates. So if you edit text and add lines it still locks it there in the centre.
If you get text centered where you want it you can 'center justify' the text in the ezcad text options like you would in microsoft word or other word processors. Doing so should accomplish what you're asking for. Will be on the left hand side of the window under text properties when you have the text selected.

I really like your video's you do a great job. I see you have the lightburn software on your laptop as well. Can you import lightburn files into ezcad.
You can export artwork from lightburn using their export to AI function and those files import nicely into ezcad.

Precisely, Ezcad is really not intended to be design software.

I have a 50W machine laser fiber machine with rotary. I want to engrave my guns. What design software could I get and what settings do I engrave guns metals.
I would try Illustrator or Inkscape for design software, which you'll then be importing to ezcad. As far as settings you can mess around with any of the settings found here on the channel, join our discord community and see what's going on there and what people are using OR you can sign up for the patreon and download my entire fiber laser parameter library which will jump start you on various metals found in the firearm engraving world. I have the 2016 30w fiber optic laser engraver with the lmcusb_ipg_ CO2 version 2016. The Lenovo laptop using Windows 7 OS that was sent to me with correct specifications that allowed it to install from the machine's dongle is now shot. I now have an ASUS VivoBook Flip 14 with Windows 10 OS which does not see the laser machine when it is plugged in but it makes the sound when connected. I also have windows 7 running Virtual System on the ASUS incase it requires the older OS. But when I plug in usb dongle to Virtual Windows 7 I cannot see the dongle and Laser says Unknown Device on both Windows 10 and Windows 7 under device manager. I have the x64 bit OS and x64 based processor.
Please help me identify correct laptop/specs to access dongle and install the EZCad2 to recognize laser .

I work on the version ez cad2.12.1 and look at the same, but it's a nightmare when you just need to select everything and you want to use CTRL+A command. Because is not working. copy, paste, redo works with keys, but select all doesn't. You need to use the mouse to press that button. Or is different comand for selecting all.

What is the difference between hatch 1,2 and 3?
Nothing, they're completely identical and they're only there so you can stack hatches if needed. For almost everything hatch #2 and hatch #3 will be off unless you specifically need them on for something.

50W fiber laser attempting to create a QDR code with 3 lines of data, part #, a sequence line for serialization, and last night a date line. I am laser engraving on a black delrin plastic, what is the best settings for the laser? Not having luck in the QDR code being able to be read by a scanner.

That's a bit beyond anything we've gotten into, and I'm not sure on that. Ezcad does have some access to automation, but not something we've dove into. As a starting point, you may be able to utilize the variable text functionality.

HELP!! I have some text that I made in Fusion 360 and exported as a dxf file. I import the vector file to EZCAD but when I try to hatch the text only some of the letter hatch. Any Idea why this is happening?

Check your ports for the door signal in your F3 Param. If there's a setting for the door port disable it and the problem should go away.

can you install and run ezcad with a fiber marking machine on a computer thats already running another laser cutter or must the computer for your fiber laser be a designated computer?
I want to learn how to upload images, and trace the images when hitting (f1 mark) instead of just a square showing up. Do you have a video for that topic?

I'll watch that later to the end...but do you have an idea of how to update the ?drivers? when changing from XP to WIN10 with EZCAD 14.11? The latter does not recognise "the dog" (=dongle=running laser machine) any more. The old computer still can operate the machine, so there's nothing defect.
