- This video goes step by step on how to replace the headlights in a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. This process is likely the same for all Equinoxes of this generation (body style). Total time to replace the bulb is probably less than the duration of this video. I hope this video helps and thank you for watching!

As a female I especially thank you.I was really afraid that I was gonna have to pay somebody to replace my headlamp. Now that I don't have to pull the hole assembly out.I am so very very thankful and blessed.
"FANTASTIC" and quick to fix the problem.
Thank you for this. My dad taught me a lot but cars have changed since he passed. I think he'd be proud of me for finding a way to figure it out.
It’s been quite some time since this comment and I’m sorry I never replied to it. Comments like these are the reason I love making videos. I’m so happy it was helpful for you and I know your dad would be proud of you! Thank you so much for watching and leaving this comment!
Beautiful comment
I had myself convinced that I had to take the headlight assembly out. You just saved me a lot of work! Thank you!
Awesome, you're welcome, glad I could help!
Me too I was getting worried!
I was quoted $75 per headlight! They said it would take a half hour per light! Thank you for making this, changed it out myself and you saved this single mom some money!
Thank you! I have to change one in my daughter's car today. When I looked under the hood, I thought this was going to be a big job!
Bro *THANK YOU!!* Your video was the only one I could find that cut straight to the point with no bullshit. You really helped me out man thank you again!🤘🏼

Super helpful! This seems super easy and straightforward.
Just used this, thanks for taking any stress out of figuring it out.
I'm glad I watched this before I got started. I thought I would need to go in from the top.
Thanks for watching, glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this video. I refer to it each time I have to change out that bulb.
Thanks, wife’s car was a one eye, boy cars have changed. I thought you had to take out the headlight. Glad I didn’t have to. Took about 10 minutes to swap both low beams. Thanks for sharing this info because my Haynes manual did not show this.
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Now I can change my buddies headlight bulb.

Very helpful and to the point. Saved time to get fixed. Thanks
This was really helpful. My dad helped me change my headlights of course 😅.
Thank you! Wow This was so much easier than my other car. Had to rip apart the front bumper to change the bulb. 😂
Quick concise and straight to the point 🎉
My mechanic always charged me an arm and a leg saying its really complicated to get to it in this vehicle. Fricken liar. Saved myself about $50. Thank you!!
Thanks for this video. I got er done.

You’re welcome, thank you for watching!
Thank youuuuuuuuuu😩
Thank you for watching, I hope it helped!
Thank you so much. I have this same 2013 equinox and I love my car. This video just saved me around 90 bucks. The dealership wanted to charge me 120 bucks so instead I came to youtube and found your video and now I'm only out the 30 bucks for the bulb. Can I ask how many miles your equinox has on it? Mine is a 2013 and it has 259,545 and knock on wood I haven't had any major issues with it and im praying I don't but it's been a really good car but I've kept the maintenance up on it. I put alot of miles on it for work. Thanks again for this video
You’re welcome, thank you for watching! This one had around 50k miles at the time of filming, if I remember right. Sounds like you’ve gotten a lot of use out of yours! Maintenance is key to any vehicle lasting a long time.
@@DriveMX5 i really have gotten my money's worth out of this car and I paid it off about a year and a half ago. It sure had been a great car so I'm gonna keep it and drive it til it falls apart...lol
Thank you so much for this, I have to change mine and this video was super helpful! Quick question, and it may be stupid, but is this bulb the same for the high beam as well or is there another bulb for that? Thanks in advance for the help! God bless 🙏🏻
I am almost positive there is another bulb for the high beam, but I cannot remember off the top of my head. You could have someone in the car with the headlights on and flash the high beams while you look at it from the outside to determine for sure if it’s a separate bulb or not. Of course be careful not to look directly at the bulb while it’s on!
I just finished! Thanks so much 😊
You’re welcome, thank you for watching!
I searched my particular make and it claimed it needed the 9005 type bulb
This was so helpful I was doing an okay job until it was time to replace the bowl(not sure what the name is) it just felt wrong because it was no click or anything…it was so easy to take off but when replacing it and turning it to the right it just don’t seem like it’s clicking on properly…another thing once I removed the light bulb it was really hard to know where exactly to stick it back inside the hole.
It's calla coffee cup by mechanics.a dust cover by gm
Yes!!!! Getting the actual light bulb back into place is a nightmare....
You are a god!
Haha thank you!
Thank you for this, i have to change in my 2012 today. Is that one bulb for low and high beam?
I believe the they are the same, however I do not have the car and am not 100% sure. I would check the owner's manual if you still have that for confirmation

I replaced h11 bulb on passenger and its still not working and all fuses are good.
Ima do this tomorrow morning. Its dark and super foggy and both my kights went off
Good video! I would have installed LEDs, though, much better brightness and luminosity for a little bit more money. . Lasfit is a great brand of LEDs. I've been installing them for years. The tricky part on a projector beam when installing LEDs is that they have to be centered and leveled properly, otherwise, you'd be pointing every which way but down and forward. On a reflector lens, you can just stick them any which way. Projector beams and different.
Great advice, thank you for providing that and watching! I’ve had Lasfit LEDs in my Miata for almost 2 years now and they work great.
Very helpful but it looks like you replace the high beam not main headlamp?
No, this was main headlamp. IIRC, the high beam is the smaller one that is more towards the inside of the headlight, if that makes sense
DriveMX-5 yup I just took out my dead headlight on my 2013 equinox, this video was perfect instruction. I had a mechanic tell me it would be a $200 fix.....
@@joystick396 Wow! I'm glad this video was helpful and saved you nearly $200! Crazy they would charge that much for a 10 minute job
helped me twice lol
Is it the same for the hazard/turn signal?
Unfortunately I’m not sure, I never replaced those. I’d imagine either the same as in the video or under the hood, since the turn signals are higher up than the headlights
Does this apply for the passenger side as well?
Yes! Same process
Is it the same on the other side for the other bulb?
Yes, exact same
Is this the same for a 2006 Lt?
I’m not sure, likely a very similar process if not the exact same
thank you did not have a light to see inside
Why does a search for headlight bulb replacement show H11 and 9005? I replaced my wife's car and it was an H11. Is the 9005 for the fog lights?
That's a great question. I just did a bit of internet research and what I found is that the H11 are for low beams and 9005 are for high beams. Perhaps these vehicles use both and it's important, of course, to make sure you get the right one! www.emanualonline.com/blog/h11-vs-9005-bulbs/
The h11 are both low beam, and fog (if fog lights are equipped ) 9005 are high beams.
You make it seem so simple. 😂
I feel like I’m going crazy, so I have a 2013 equinox and the T-20 is just a tad to big to fit and the T-15 is a tad too small.
You have to take the tire off so you can see how the bulb connecter stays on. It’s a nightmare
Not on my 2014. Theres not a round cover.
A few other videos I saw are wrong.
What did you have instead?
@@DriveMX5 . On my 2014 the plastic wheel well needs to be unclipped and bent over.
@@2Jeezuzisreal they likely did a design change that year. I believe the car in the video was a 2013. Either way, same process to change the headlight, just a different way of removing that cover
Mine either
The body style goes from 2010 to 2017. You're probably replacing the high beam not the low beam.
Why does only my passenger side have this tho?
Do not touch the glass on the new bulbs!!! The oil in your skin will cause the glass to blister and destroy the bulb
Why is this even a thing?? Amongst other reasons I definitely will not deal with equinox again
the title is misleading. It is not changing the headlights, but only the bulb of the headlight
I would’ve said headlight assembly if that’s what I was changing. Sorry it wasn’t the video you were looking for!
Well most people only mean the bulb when they change the headlight. The headlight assembly is the entire thing.
Dude u didnt change the headlight, u change the bulb. Get it right🤦🏻♂️
