- This is the first part of a Mini Tutorial Series where ill be going over the basics of making a PS1 style graphics using unity, this series will start from a beginner friendly approach to a more complex system on making various effects and even implementation of custom render pipeline to the game engine it self, Even tho this is an in-depth tutorial covering mostly beginner friendly stuff its still a necessity to understand the basics of how unity works and how it operates so atleast a familiarity with the game engine is recommended to have

Quality content as always, i hope this series gets the the love it deserves ❤🤝
I'm so happy this video exists, I just started watching your videos because I've wanted to get into this style of game-making for a long time, and while your old videos were useful I still had so many questions being completely inexperienced as a game-dev.
Nice vid, incredibly thorough! Love the time you spent to explain what each component does & why 🔥
Bro this series is gonna be sick. Look forward to it.
Nice work! The 'fake' volumetric lights look super cool, I'll have to keep them in mind for my future projects. Looking forward to seeing the future parts :)
I wish you the best of the luck to you my man, awesome tutorial
Thanks a lot for this!
Please make Part-2.
Glad to see someone is doing the same style. Good luck)
Waiting for pt2 :p thanks for the video.
Yooooo! Awesome tutorial!!1
amazing tutorial bro
Hey, really loving this video so far! Where did you find the models from Silent Hill 1? Cant seem to find any online.
Great job! It would be nice to have a tutorial on creating an environment in Blender and transferring it and setting it up to Unity. Install an add-on in Blender that displays the pressed keys and the mouse (Screencast-Keys).
Thank you so much! Subbing for part 2!
very helpfull tutorial
Can you make a video showing how to make a scene like the one you're working in?
Superb tutorial. For the textures, do u use atlas or just use one texture per face?
Would it be possible to use the textures and materials from this pack on a project I've already built? Or do I need to start a new project from scratch?
Nice series. In the description it says the model is Silent Hill PS1. Is that available anywhere? I can't find it.
When i add Global Volume click Override it says no SRP in use do you know how to fix that?
Do more of these, or make a course, that would be awesome.
very nice
Unfortunately, PSX Renderpipeline does not work on the current versions of Unity beyond 2020.
is there any solution? or alternative?
I lovee broo just goo ahead
How to get project files?
I use probuilder to build my sets in unity, any chance this will work with it?
yh just need to add the materials afterwards
part 2?
It seems that the UI elements are not seen in the scene view with this render or I don't know how to see them, but they are visible in the game scene.
For some reason they render when not on overlay mode, so I what I do is change the canvas render mode to screen space - camera, design the UI and when I'm happy, I switch it to overlay mode. But you need to switch it back to screen space to make changes tho.
Hello there, got a strange problem, the 3d models are empty, the materials are all grey, i did all the steps but that didnt work, any help?
u need to change the shader of your existing materials, find ur materials and then from the drop down select the ps1 shader
favorited this so fast lmao
I want to create same background style but without the jagging how can I do it?
u cab turn the geometry precision to off
bold of you to assume I'm organized enough for a materials folder
🫡
great video with a lot of useful information but your explanation is all over the place like you're talking about something and doing something else. I think if you focus only on what you're doing the video structure will be much better. Thank you
Nice
can this be used for android game development? is there any performance impact if I build it for mobile?
Don't worry to much about since your game will be in low resolution + short draw distance which save power
Could this work on mac?
Tried and it did work with most recent unity version on mac. I just extracted the zip and dropped in the packages folder
part 2????????????????????????????
part 2 pls
everything is gray like mi profile picture, shaders and mats are psx-lit weid.
PART 2???
Bro, can I have the fake light file?😅
I have wanted to join your patreon a long time ago, but payment patreon is not supported in my country, give me a solution so I can join and support you. 🥺
If u wanna support me :D u can leave a comment ever so often, or u can share my videos and sub to the channel! Thanks bro u dont have to do anything else
I tried both methods of installing the shader, does not work at all. I keep getting errors no matter what I do
And I just found out this shader doesn't work for 2021 version of Unity
do you have a discord channel? im working on a PS1 style game as well (no horror, but rather something like MGS) and i would love to get in conersation with you
Doesn’t work with anything above Unity 2020
yeah it didn't work for me either
Thanks for the heads up!
it does now after the update i used it for 2022
Wow...
First sentence alone is false. Dreamcasts ran game much better than the ps and this is coming from a hardcore ps fan only
why are we even discussing that? both consoles are generation apart
I wish I could understand but this is just too confusing for me
its rather simple, we're using a package to make the scene look like that, Follow along the video ull slowly grasp it
@@aidencantcode yeah but you go too fast and I don’t understand you I literally just downloaded the thing for the first time I have no idea what I’m doing
@@aidencantcode and I just get errors and everything is pink and gives me an error
@@vsvxtal Stark crafts gives slower more detailed tutorials that you can actually follow. Kind of boring but that's the nature of this work. Lots of boring before you can make something cool. If you're not yet proficient in modeling download blender which is now just modeling program more or less. Follow his Blender tutes for modeling until you learn the basics the, switch to unity game engine and start really building on that.
I'm getting errors: "Packages\com.hauntedpsx.render-pipelines.psx\Runtime\RenderPipeline\PSXCamera.cs(152,23): error CS1501: No overload for method 'SetReferenceSize' takes 3 arguments"
Make sure u made the project in standard renderpipeline or else it wouldnt work, and also if the error continues then make sure ure at unity 2020.3 or above that
@@aidencantcode turns out i needed to make a change to the .jason that refers to the git repository. But the camera isnt working
Make sure u have "git" installed on ur computer and make sure to have unity version 2019 or 2020 or above, And its a standard 3d project and re do the steps, because such prblm didnt occur with me or any project i tried with
@@aidencantcode i have git installed
whats ur unity version??
Can it be connected somehow with URP? I really needs it to make some effects.
(i need shader graph)
Nope thats not possible since it uses a custom SRP based rendering with its own custom materials
part 2?
