Hey David, could you do an updated video for 2022? I’m at a big transition in my life and want to leave a dead end construction job and jump into tech and really want to be a sales force admin. However, I’m afraid the market might be too saturated right now.

I’m watching this video in 2022 and learning salesforce now. I actually heard of this before I was even a college graduate in the early 2000s as an end-user. It has definitely grown since then. I want to start as admin and eventually learn to code.

Thank you for the insights! Very interesting! I'm currently on the last module of Salesforce's Vetforce Business Analyst path. I don't have a job working with Salesforce yet. Times are kinda weird right now with the whole virus thing and I recently started a $15/hr. warehouse job just to somehow generate some income. Problem is, this warehouse job is leaving me with no time or energy to continue making progress with Salesforce's Business Analyst path. I'm considering taking a couple days off here and there solely for Salesforce training, or possibly even quitting the warehouse job entirely and completely diving in head first into Salesforce and staying in as long as possible. I'm not shy about learning code at all and I look forward to it. It's nice to hear learning code might place me in the phase 1 growth section. I'm glad I found your channel. I'm subscribed and will watch your other videos. Thanks again!

I totally agree with you. I got to know about Salesforce back in 2014 during my Masters degree and I completed DEV & ADM certifications at that time. I got an internship on the basis of those certifications only but never got to work on actual SFDC project. I ended up getting full time job as Data Engineer and never worked on any Salesforce project in past 6 yrs.
I kept learning on Trailhead and still get fascinated with Salesforce. But I feel like the technology and platform has evolved so much in past 6 yrs that it looks really tough to get into SFDC development. At the same time, I feel I can still get into SFDC BA or Consultant roles as I am into Consulting now.
What are your thoughts on this, David?

Im a software Engineer over 50yo very behind in technology because for the last 15y I chose my kids over my career. Was wondering if developer path would be too much at this point on my life, you know Web stuff, OO, Java script, etc.. You answered that question , Im going for the developer path, yeah !! Expand horizontally as well. There are heaps of salesforce developers in India.. No judgement I mean I have many talented colleagues in India, platform II with annual income of 30k. Think about how else you can add value, add on training/ project management... but I must say doing my first exam 5 years ago, more credentials n add ons enable me to maintain a new job at 6 deg after being retrenched at this climate.

Another angle on this is Salesforce is now strategic. So the skills you need are enterprise level implementation (COE / DevOps / BA / Architecture). So BIG projects, with big budgets and big problems. And you get paid based on the size of the problems you can fix. Big problems = big $$$. If you don;t know what these terms mean, go and start finding out. spoiler alert: you won't find them on trailhead. train.elements.cloud/live

For the students graduating in 2020 do you think that time has already passed for them to enter Salesforce ecosystem as Salesforce is entertaining phase 2 and should be looking for some phase 1 technologies rather than Salesforce ? I'm totally a new bee. I barely know how to code. I remember coding in c+ for the first time in my life in the 1st year of college and I wanted that semester to be over as soon as possible. It was out of my headspace.. But the next semester introduced us to c++ and I almost not flunked. Good riddance, I comforted myself. That was not a good experience w coding at all. Now I hear you saying coding is essential to have better chances of getting the job. Also that it's (coding) less complicated when it comes to the role of SF Developer. SO I guess that gives me a lil pump (no pun) to start learning to code again.
Initially, I'm thinking of learning the admin roles and eventually start to code for the developer position so that I am skilled in both. Please tell me if that will work.. Or if I should straight up jump for learning to be an SF Developer as you have a better idea about it. Also any other tips would be greatly appreciated. I'm really trying to get my life right with a job lmao.
    Thanks in advance.
