This woman is in a league of her own. Just stunning, her style, her delivery, her art. Only she could intrigue and captivate an audience with a story about a teacher they have never met, and that too in less than 10 minutes.
She seriously has a voice for poetry. It just makes her pieces that much better!
"My world was a box of crayons. I had to use every single color to paint her," love that phrase.
I don't remember what she said specifically, but it was something like that. Beautiful poem
I actually think this is my favourite poem by her. I thought it was the one from her TEDtalk but THIS is my favourite, because Mrs. Ribeiro sounds like such a magical person. I'm in love with the idea of a person like Mrs Ribeiro and I wish I had her as a teacher too.
Thank you sarah, for calming me down and taking me away into your world whenever I’m stuck too deep in mine.
I couldn't agree more. She was the first spoken word artist I heard but today it seems like I have travelled the world on a boat of words.
Same :)
Sarah! I just came across this and it made me cry. I miss Mrs. Ribeiro. Hope you're well. xx
I strive to become like Mrs Riberio. Another inspiration for me!
I didn't even realize the 6 minutes that went by when listening to this. This truly is art
Makes me want to thank several "Mrs. Ribeiro"s from my school days. Teacher impact the future for sure!
Sarah Kay never fails to disappoint
Mrs. Ribeiro sounds like a wonder woman. What a perfect role model for an educator!
I love this poem. I read it in her book "No Matter the Wreckage" and I am so happy to see that she has a video of it now.
I cried. Just wow.
Made me cry at the end... Not totally sure why
this is the most incredible thing in the world, it made me smile with tears in my eyes
She inspires me so much. I was about to give up, but in this moment, right here, I understood that I can do so much more. Sarah, thank you.
What an incredible performance. Your little observations make the whole difference, it makes you special.
Yes, I've grown up with the sound of gold bangles tinkling as teacher writes on the board. And it makes me feel proud! Love from India!
Everyone deserves a teacher like Mrs. Ribeiro! Thank you, Sarah!
I discovered Sarah Kay a few days ago from her poem "Montauk," and since then I've grown to love all her poems. This one probably struck me the most; I can relate to a lot of it. Thanks, Sarah, for this amazing work.
She has taught me so much from the poems she has peformed. Wish I could tell her how much she makes me wander and question.
Finally seeing this live after years of watching and rewatching of CZcams made it even more magical, which I didn't think was possible.
I love this so much!
It reminds me of my very first school 40 years ago where I was from grade 1-4 before moving.
Very similar in its diversity and broad interests and opportunities.
I wish I could write Sarah directly to say how much I related to this.
You can always write to her! She has her email up on her website, and she is an absolute sweetheart and replies to all her emails.
Thanks so much, Yanita.
I'll keep that in mind. :)
she has a great memory!
Stunningly beautiful. Cried within a minute-and-a-half.
Love her so much! Her voice, the way she delivers her work...really don't know why, but I almost always have tears in my eyes when I listen to her! Such an inspiration!
This is beautiful not only do I aspire to write like this but I aspire to teach and make children feel like Mrs Robeiro does. Thank you for this :)
one of my fave poems by sarah kay is makes me smile over and over again
I love Sarah's poems, each one I can see the story in my mind, the words she speaks is like a story on paper, that creates little movies in my mind. She is such a great performer/speaker.
I'll never get tired of this poem or this poet to be honest
