  • Here is a short video detailing the REAL reason why I was able to get a good deal on my 2006 Volvo XC90 V8. This also covers some information about buying these particular Volvos, as well as things to be wary of in future prospects with purchasing these cars. Full review coming soon on this as well!

    I purchased identical vehicle 5 years ago. It too had sunroof drain issues, water sloshing under carpet, leaking valve cover gaskets. In time plugs,coils, fuel rail had to be replaced. Rishes Auto broke rail and fuel injector clips during gasket replacement and did not tell me so. Found out hard way on way home. It has 201k and needs gaskets done again. Also transmission service. Fluid and filter. It is a wonderful suv when running good. Horrible when something fails. Costly. To look at it, one would never know it is 16 years old. No rust.

    I cleaned the drain and put silicone on it for 1 hour, I had no more problems, 320,000 km, perfect, ahhh, I forgot, do the maintenance requested by the manufacturer, and replace quality oils etc.

    I recently got an 04 t5 xc90, though it's been wrecked and the frame is compromised, every bushing , shock absorber, and strut is bad, but I've still never experienced a smoother ride before. Planning to buy a xc90 t6 or V8 that I can do a subframe/engine/trans swap on. The t6 and V8 variants were too unreliable and go for relatively cheap. Solid project car 👍

    Wow you got this for $800. That is a steal.
    Did you take any video on the seal replacement process? I maybe doing a doing mine soon. Would be good to see some of the steps.

    What's you view on changing the transmission fluid on these XC90's with high mileage?

    • @CaReviewsOG
      @CaReviewsOG  Před 3 lety +3

      If it’s never been done, probably just do an initial drain and fill, drive it maybe 5-10k miles, do another drain and fill, drive another 5-10k miles and do one more, that way the transmission has good new fluid in it. Make sure to reset the transmission service counter and adaptations, otherwise the transmission might start acting weird

    Never heard of the sunroof drains on XC90 having problems. 2009 here in Seattle area where it rains a ton and never a problem

    • @CaReviewsOG
      @CaReviewsOG  Před 2 lety

      It’s mainly for people that live in areas with a lot of trees, debris from all of that clogs the sunroof drains! Super common, I figured if you live in a rainy area or wash your car regularly they don’t have that issue!

    Sir I have a 2010 Volvo and that fuel rail is definitely fragile. I broke mines not knowing it was all one piece. I’ve been looking and looking to purchase a new fuel rail and haven’t had any luck. May I ask, where did you find yours and how much was it?

    • @CaReviewsOG
      @CaReviewsOG  Před 2 lety +1

      I was able to get one through a local Volvo dealership at a discount via a friend who worked there, paid roughly $440 for it. Most dealerships list it around $600. Check out Volvo Lisle Parts (dealership in Illinois) as they have heavily discounted OEM parts!

    I have an '07 xc90 v8. Time to replace that crappy valve body. Some of the guys on MVS said reach out to Volvo and see if they will cover some of the cost for a replacement since it's their fault, Volvo said F off lol, I am now looking for a valve body from a wrecked '09 or '10. I got lucky and found a transmission cooler for it so I will be adding that on once I get ready to do the VB swap.
