I think it's funny that the final ramp needs a later trick than usual, considering Mario Kart Wii's delay tricking
After 11 hours on this course it sometimes felt like that dang stair trick was the hardest part of the run
I may have only done around 4 hours, but I agree.

1) the intro to the stairs was *chefs kiss*
2) emphasis on “it’s going to take practice” bc man, this one took some work! May attempt this track again since you mentioned a piece or two I was missing. 1:47 may be possible!
I like the new order of presenting every strat that’s important before showing your personal best run.
I notice a ton of shortcuts on the wave 1 DLC can be sort of finicky like the Sky Garden bouncing leaves and the stairs here.
I sort of get vibes of Mount Wario and Ninja Hideaway because with enough practice, you can visualize targets to aim for when going for alignment tricks on Coconut Mall.

Yeah it always felt super awkward to me to like... talk about the personal best and then be like alright here's some more strats lol. Think I'm just gonna keep doing this going forward, and I'm experimenting with a new way of doing the recommended build stuff in my Tokyo Blur video
Used to hate this course and now I love it! Definitely going to be trying to get down to 1:47.
One of my favorites circuits in the DLC, if not the best. Lots of stuff to do and use to avoid shells, bananas and competitors xD. Thanks Bayesic!
I think this is the majority of player’ favorites. Every time it comes up online almost everyone picks this one. Great track!
I find that hopping a bit later helps with the stair trick, but it might be slower than the strat you use.
Not gonna lie...tricking off those stairs is so finicky. I usually jump right before the staircase so I land in the middle of the staircase and then trick off the top. That always works for me
I really wish the devs had spent a little of the time they spent making that mural on tweaking some ramps and corners instead.

I was able to go from a 1:50.5 to a 1:48.5 with the strats you showed in about 30 minutes, thanks a lot man
hey bayesic, casual mkwii player for 13 years here, if you didnt know, you can actually trick off the red handlerail on the side of the escalators, your airtime isnt big and you can still trick off the top of the escalator, its a bit of a bumhole to accurately do with good alignment tho ;D

So glad you did this one. I was struggling with the staff ghost and I've not really struggled with any other ghost. I wasn't sure how to take those turns before and after the plantar section but it all makes sense. I'm slowly working my way through all the course I struggle with online. Just having the knowledge of the best lines and strats makes huge difference in online play for me. Its the diffrenc between a solid win and getting bombarded in the mid field. Thanks again for this!

I hate the track 😂 right after bowsers castle and grumble volcano. Coconut Mall is also the only track where I haven't even managed to get the creator spirit for 1 second. It's my end boss 💥😂

I've never had an issue with tricking off the stairs in the course. I wonder if I've just been getting it consistently because I didn't know people were having issues with the stairs.
It's really not *that* bad on 150cc... 200cc now that's another story

This was the 2nd hardest track to time trial in 150cc but the track became enjoyable after I learned how to shake trick
I think the reason the stairs at the beggining are so finnicky is because the hitbox has a small ledge in the beggining which causes your kart to gain airtime and not hit the top of the stairs where you trick, hopping lets you skip over that ledge so your kart does land on the end of the stairs
Note that you can shake the controller to trick off the stairs. It gives you MUCH more time.

Edit: also what have they done with the timing of some of the platforms with the DLC? Some of them are just wrong on the timing
I expect the reason the first stair needs a hop before it is because the ramp is just a few units off the ground, so you have to jump over it in order to not get flung up

I used 2 be a Wii player, Coconut Nall is not a problem.
I felt it was faster to hug the last two corners like you, yet the top runs go wide, even the non baby builds.
I need to practice that second escalator with a drift though, gonna be my biggest cut l reckon
I believe that part of it is that they build up an extra mini turbo that I don’t build up cause it’s really difficult to do it properly, and you basically can’t do it if you take the corner tightly
@@Bayesic yeah I don't think I can soft drift well enough to do it. So many subtleties to this game
Idk why but it seems to be impossible to pull of the 1st stair trick when using Mr Scooty. No matter how hard I shake my controls, I never get the stair trick.
With the biddy buggy it seems to be a bit more consistent, any idea what causes the differences?
Hi, I'm still gonna watch the whole video but considering I run this course in 200 and not 150, what tricks carry over and what ones are 150 exclusive? Like, the hop before the stairs looks real handy as well as the mini-turbo-trick thingy.
The hop before the stairs is also useful on 200, as is the late trick for the last orange boost ramp
You definitely do NOT want to be tricking off of that second escalator on 200cc tho

I dont get why people complain about not getting the tricks. If you just shake the controller you pretty much guarantee the trick!
Fo me the stairs trick was inconsistent even with motion tricking. I had to hop onto it to get it consistently.
@@MeesterTweester wow that must be annoying to do everytime. I just shake the controller a couple of times and i pretty much always get the trick.
How much slower is it to go up the ramp at the end and glide down?
It’s faster if you do motion glider, not sure about how much slower it is otherwise tho

When I clicked on, I thought this was a meme video with the part 4 to say nothing matters, nothing works, only insane people think saying .05 seconds is worth saving, and that red shells take away 5 seconds anyways 😂
Those stairs are by far the worst ramp in the game to trick off of. Because shaking isnt an option for me, I genuinely have just given up on getting it in my time trials, since it seems to be pure RNG if it happens or not. I must have restarted like 2 dozen times and lost my mind because I would do the SAME THING and get different results, it was crazy.
