I like what Navratilova had to say about Mirza and Hingis. They "complement" each other. That's it. Hingis is fantastic at the net. Mirza has crushing groundstrokes from the baseline. They both do everything well, but they were the perfect doubles team.
To be fair, Hingis formed a great doubles team with just about anyone. She won the calendar year Grand Slam in 1998 with two different partners.
When she split up with Mirza, she used to beat her alongside Latisha Chan (whom she used to beat alongside Mirza before).

Spare a thought on Hingis, the way she resumed her "third" career and achieving such massively dominant partnership with Sania was unbelievable. They went on 41-matches winning streak (the longest ever since 1990) and were in contention of completing the Grand Slam when they came to Roland Garros 2016.
Nobody cares about Hingis the coward's "third" career. She ran from the competition when it get tough and kept trying to sneak back in when she thought she could grab a good player and parasite off them to win matches.

Lots of power on it. I hope she can take as good as she gives... every match she plays, she smashes her forehand at the net player. Seems like they should be used to her doing that.

Hendra Hermawan Her attitude definitely improved when she returned in 2006 and again in 2013 for doubles. I guess it’s a benefit of getting older because as a teenager - and as with most teenagers - she was arrogant and became even more so when she dominated women’s tennis between 1997-2000.
@@marioescalante4401 Yep, I will never forget 'that' infamous Roland Garros final against Steffi Graf. I liked the winner speech Steffi gave, like she understood Hingis was a teenager with all the potential in the world, but still a teenager, so she praised her in her speech.

Martina Hingis’s forehand grip has gotten so much more extreme, as in extreme Western grip, than when she was dominating in 1997.
Yeah, she was much more aggressive in 97, later on she just got the ball back and hit it really short with her fh.
Agreed. I think that's one of the reasons she didn't win more singles slams. As the courts slowed down she went for more spin which really worked when mixing up spin and breaking down her opponents but reduced the power needed to hit winners as she used to do between 96 to 99. Saying all that, she did well against so many amazing power players and her doubles and mixed skills /wins is phenomenal.
@@jasonwillcox3208 brother she had injuries in both her ankles that's why she had to retire from tennis world in 2003 so that is why she couldn't win any slam,, then in 2006 she came back but gain retired in 2007 and then came back in 2013 but played only mixed and doubles, no more singlee And at the age of 19 she had 14 grand slams,,and when serena was at age of 19 she was having someabout 4 or 5 slams... So u can understand hingis level..... Though serena williams is my all time favourite but the fact is that, if hingis was there in between 2003-2017 then serena could not win more than 17 slams in singles...
She only dominated in 1997 because there was no competition. But when the competition got tough, she complained and ran and pretended there was "too much power" because she was an overrated coward.

Lets speak of facts:
1. Hingis/Sania won french open in 2015 but they both lost to the same team in 2016 playing with different partners. Sania in QF and Hingis in SF both to the same pair
2. Hingis/Sania won Australian open in 2016 but they both lost playing different partners in the following year. Hingis in 2nd round and Sania in 3rd
3. Hingis/Sania US open winners in 2015 but then went on to choose different partners, both pairs lost in QF. However Hingis won 2017 but she had to face Sania in SFs.
H2H in singles Sania had got Hingis twice. their score is 2:2. Im from India and you dont get too much motivation to become a tennis star in this country. Discrediting someone like this is very silly of you.

Btw, they never won the French Open. If you meant Wimbledon, they also didn't play with different partners, but lost in the quarters to Babos/ Shvedova.

@@uletitlinger That's a little bit hard....yes Martina is the best double player ever and won with so much several partners titles but with Sania Mirza she was most succesful, because of her amazing forehand and her powerful game she was the ideal partner for Martinas brilliant volleys game
@ferzy09 hingis' partners became so lame once they left hingis. Like Mirza, like chan. They are indeed nobody without hingis. They never won another grand slam event after leaving hingis.
@@derhinko2359 after temporarily partnering with hingis, even Bacsinszky did well in doubles. We all know Bacsinszky is a really bad doubles player. On the other hand, Mirza failed to win another grand slam once leaving hingis. She has some brutal force in forehand, but she has the worst footwork and doesn't have a brain either. Even Coco is a better partner than Mirza.
