Alfie should be an immortal he won 4 premierships as captain. He played 1 less test than johns except all of Alfie’s was at halfback. Won 2 world cups won many origin series. Was the first full time halfback to score 100 tries. Was the first man to captain his club, state and country to glory in the same year, multiple rule changes exclusively to slow him down. It’s an absolute disgrace Alfie isn’t an immortal.

Saw Alf at the airport in Sydney on Thursday and thought how he was such a great player, but seems really shy and humble. Happy to just be a runner for the Broncs and Queensland, while leaving the limelight for the other maroon greats.

The fact Joey and Freddie played many tests with Alfie is the most shocking part. Hell the only reason they know he’s great company is because they played tests with him otherwise they were never on the same team.

Alf vs Joey in Origins. 3 wins 2 losses 1 draw. We all now he flogged Freddy in his last game.
So much bias against Alf. In 98 he won as captain the prem, minor prem, Origin, international he beat Joey 3-1 and yet Joey got the golden boot that year.

@@davidcruse843 The NSW media really pushed for it when NSW won the 2005 origin series when Johns came back after 9 games in 2 years or something. Langer of course had no such thing happen when he came from England in 2001 to win the series for Queensland. Just goes to show, the whole thing is a popularity contest.
