Back in the day you needed 6 props, 2 playing 2 injured 2 on suspension
đđ
If they ban the kick off Iâm no longer watching NRL.
Yep. Me too
I have already stopped
They are slowly destroying the game..I'm already a little turned off by the modern game actually,it doesn't have the same magic for me as the 80s and 90s did
Love listening to these two & watching them play.
Was neither a Roosters or Knights fan but there's always something to be learnt from hearing them talk football.
The good old days. Back when ships were made of wood and men were made of steel
Except that the men from those days are often now buckled steel. It broke their bodies and brains.
yeah and look at them now
My all time favorite kick off return - Ruben Wiki Big Hit on Iosia Soliola
The game died for me when they banned the shoulder charge. Now the kick-off ?? Fair dinkum. Get ya skirts out boys it's Netball time.
Yeah.. and why ban it when Slater doesn't get sent off anyway!!!
The easiest way to stop people suing the game is have a waiver written into the contracts saying they know the risks and take their own responsibility for anything that may happen
ExactlyđŻđŻđŻđŻ
Except that isn't legal. The employer provides the work environment and is legally bound to ensure it's as safe as possible for their employees, regardless of being informed about hazards. Same as any other workplace. It's a big issue for pro sports to deal with.
â@@seanmac80 how does the UFC get around this issue? I don't hear any stories about law suits in that sport!
@@peterbulloch4328 there are definitely lawsuits⊠some they settle, some they fight
Wow, nice work Atticus, I can't believe no one has ever tried that before. You're a bloody genius
The NRLâs biggest problem is Abdo. Ban Abdo, and all these issues disappear.
Drawn and Quartered
Itâs a contact/collision sport, and everyone who plays knows the inherent risks and choose to play anyway. If the NRL wants to keep changing the rules or the fabric of the game on the threat of players potentially getting hurt then they might as well just make it Oz tag
Queensland was so good at it with their high ball targeting certain NSW players. Queensland always retaliated with the high ball. Origin was so good to watch back then
Back when every prop or second rower would have bruises on their face after a game.
Best part is Chief stayed on the field and continued playing. They donât make them like they used to
To think he plays the ball and gets up looking for chief to start punching on. What a machine.
Chief and spud those were the days
I wish the host would shut up and let them talk without interruption
Great episode. Well done.
NRL should go under the banner of combat sport and ostead of banning things bring back the biff
^^this đđ
Freddy has become such a company man to the NRL. Itâs disgusting. Canât believe he sounds like heâs for the Ban.?!
Great stories, thanks lads
Hard as it gets. Those games were like the Les Boyd and Terry Randal , Ray Price so on .
The BEST ERAÂĄ
If the NRL are fair dinkum then they also need to stop advertising the big hits from the kick off to promote the game. They banned the punch but they love to shove it in our faces with their promotions around origin time. They dont care about the players, only their own corporate bottom dollar.
Rugby league has gone really soft in recent years. Too many rule changes.
As a blue i have too say Dallas Johnson was a machine!
Love Joey's tribute to Pongia
bring back the spear tackle
An added aspect of forward play back then came from Adrian "Mozz" Morley, in an interview after he had retired. He said he wished he could still play, but he was just too old now. He did, however concede one thing about the game he loved - he didn't love trying to walk around the house on Monday mornings! đ€Ł
Crazy tuff
Remember the big picture, its always for "our safety".
From health to cars to food to alcohol to sports to online to ID......
Its always brought in for "your safety" until there's nothing left to take away....
Butterfield and Glanville didnât give a rats ass did they and chief and spud Carroll
Thatâs what youâve got to remember langer Johns they did their tricks but there was big consequences if they got stung by one of these forwards or really anyone at that level can nail you
What wiki and soliola. That was one of the best kick off returns ever too
Where was Karmichael Hunts kick off hit up against NZ. His debut flr Aus as i remenber??
Rueben Wiki still takes the cup
Reuben wiki verses the rooters
You mean the Roosters right? That game in 2008 Warriors vs Roosters where he knocked out Soiola or whatever his name was? I think it was a center.
@@MusMasi nah the rooters
Plain and simple... take the kick off from us a lot intrest will drop... i mean have u seen the bunnies crowed
Too many COOKS Spoil the broth...LEAVE THE GAME ALONE .
I stopped watching the game around 2012-13 I think. When they banned the shoulder charge. I watch the odd game but nothing religiously anymore other than state of origin and GF. Isnât the same game unfortunately đ
rip terry hill
Whe n rugby was a Men's game
Next, they'll ban the clothesline for goodness sake.
A drop kick from the middle would mitigate the kick off. It would be more random and teams would mix short and long kick offs
This is it. Harder to be accurate with a drop kick and even if it goes long, it generally will be 'held' up a bit more than a kick off a tee so there would be less time between the catch and the tackle
NRL will enforce HELMETS just for kick-off 1st tackle.
I guess there is only a matter of time before someone is killed or seriously maimed from the kick off.
Shut up
Rest In Peace rugby league........ no shoulder charge, no biffs, little slap to the face u r reported plus maybe sin-binned ummmmm what else can i say?
Awesome not like the wimps today
Theres a worst one,90s,mark grahams ko,d fist tackle test ,kiwis,Australia.
There is such an obvious agenda here. These blokes have clearly gotten the memo from Abdo to go out and act completely mortified with any form of impact off a kick off. Half of these carries are regulation tackles ffs..
The absolute state of this sport at the moment is laughable.
9Nine better than Fox.
Robbie O Davis on a kick return or Karmichael Hunt? 50m kick and a 20m wind up running at 35km ph straight at the defensive line. Stop giving this the time of day and move on. The kick off is going nowhere.
Ban kick off .. game is dead
honestly the games already dead, do what you want with it at this point, its already a complete bastardization of a something we used to love
when most of your audience is only tuning in out of respect for how good it used to be, you've got a big problem with your sport
Johnâs saying thatâs what happens when you Tackle low⊠that bloke just put his head on wrong side so full force went through his head⊠poor form
But it's hard to decide at the last second which side to put your head on.
â@@TheShepdawg9no it isn't, otherwise every single person who tackles low would get knocked out lol
May as well be touch football
Chief acting like an ex girlfriend haha
What should be removed from the game is that hosts shacketoodie
The NRL has become a Corporatocracy which now must apease pollicital, financial and legal interests just like any other corporation in order to maintain funding so that it can operate. It is no longer a sport, it is a business and it is in the best interests of any business to reduce risks of injury and subsequent litigation.
Footy as we know it is dead. What we have left is nothing more than the eroded corpse of what truly once was the greates game of all.
I stopped watching last year when they were putting players in the bin for things that were completely innocuous. I attempted to watch my once beloved Titans play the Storm but was quickly reminded why I stopped watching in the first place as the penalties and the sin bins for nothing have only gotten worse.
Why havenât they just made the soft helmets compulsory if it is so badâŠ.?
Scrum caps do nothing for concussion
Than the kick down field no diff , Who's even talking this crap WOKE NRL .
These three clowns ruined what could be epic content. Fancy having that archive and budget and being that bad
I already dont watch the game anymore, it become politcal, woke & the reffing made it impossible. It they make changes to the kick off u will lose many many more.
i got spear tackled when i was 10 back in 1991 severely stuffed my neck and back did i complain No because I knew the risks so did my parents. after the tackle i got up played the ball and continued to play but it did happen at Centrals In townsville back when it was practically hard dirt with no grass.
more crap.
