So creative! This kind of stuff is just great. I really like how the "maker movement" (is that a thing that has nomenclature?) has taken off in the past few years. Something about the commercial IoT trend really worries me though: Stuff like those stupid Internet-connected refrigerators with LCD panels and TV's in them -- which is fine in and of itself, but the big problem is they all run some form of embedded Linux that the manufacturer's stop supporting as soon as they come out with the next thing they want to sell you, and they all end up being big giant gaping security holes in your network. off-the-shelf IP-cameras is another one, oh hell's bells 95% of those things are just awfully made, and security is at the bottom of the afterthought list.
