    I’m working with these right now, and they are so cool! I made button-like holes for them to peek through an embroidered appliqué, but therefore need to sew them upside down - I only wish they had the data, power, and ground symbols printed on the back like they do the front. I’m excited to see them fully lit up! 🙂

    thanks for the really descriptive video, so now I know how to sew conductive thread

    Aww dang I got the 2 ply conductive thread and need the 3 ply. I am not sure exactly how many NeoPixels I will use, but I bought the 20 pack so that is my max amount. At least I watched this video before I started stitching on my NeoPixels. I just sewed the FLORA on the shirt.

    looking at your youtube videos, they've been very helpful. BUT my question is there a way to make a light up wig? (white hair but color changing fiber opitc LEDs)

    Does there need to be a break in the data thread from one neopixel to the next? I mean is there any reason why I can't continue the data thread, by stitching under the neopixel and fabric to come up the other side, stitch through the out pin and then continue on to the next one. Rather than go back to the end of the last tail and tie a knot in the middle.

    I know I probably won't get an answer this late after the last comment but I have a cosplay coming up and I'm totally inexperienced with LEDs but the jacket that goes with my costume has LEDs in it and I'm not sure exactly how to incorporate them to imitate the original as closely as possible. I was going to use an LED strip because Idk how to use the diodes without needing complex circuitry. another you tuber referred me to your page and the neo pixels seem so much easier to use. do you have any advice you could offer for me?

    Hi, I'm having problems with the springy nature of the 3ply thread. Simply sewing around the pad holes doesn't stay tight enough to keep the connection. I've tried using a reef knot and figure of 8 knot but they still come undone. I tried gel superglue because glue is nonconductive and I didn't want it working into the knot and coating the surfaces where the thread touches. But the day after I'd glued the knots, the circuit that had been working when I glued it had stopped working. I assume the connection has failed again. Any tips for keeping tight connections on fabric that won't be under tension (on a hoop) when the project's finished?

    Hi,
    I have a adafruit flora board, I don't know where the data hole is? could someone help me? It's for a uni project!

    So what's the best way to sew to a fabric but have it going metro arduino board instead?

    Hi there! Thanks for your Video! Im not good in coding, but i try my best. So this might be a stupid question for u all :) is there code for your example? I'm not able to say my gemma 'come on there is something on D1, make it happen' perhaps you can help

    How do you get the Flora in the board manager menu in tools?
    I have the AVR 1.6.9 and flora drivers installed, but I still can't program the FLORA like Becky Stern displayed in her video.

    Have you tried E6000 glue?

    • @adafruit
      @adafruit  Před 9 lety

      Chris Butler It's only Becky's favorite adhesive! =D Doesn't dry fast enough or seep into the thread knots enough for this purpose, though.

    Would soldering the contacts later on help with conductivity?

    • @adafruit
      @adafruit  Před 9 lety +1

      ArmyOfCamels regular electronics solder won't work with stainless steel, additionally heating up the NeoPixel pads once they are touching fabric is not recommended. Stranded silicone-coated wire is great for soldering to these pixels, though, if that's your thing!
