    My first camera was the ZV-E10 as the result of too much "Mark Bennett's Camera Crisis"-Video consumption and my first lens was the Tamron 17-70. The Sigma was already available at that time, but the lack of image stabilization was the reason to choose the Tamron! Great video, thank you again!

    Another tip: why not set the Metering Mode to Highlights? That way you don't have to play with the EV Comp so much as the camera will always base exposure off the highlights. I never see any zebras when using this method. My setup is generally Meter Mode - Highlights with EV Comp set to +0.3EV to lift the blacks a little. Also have the Tamron 17-70 which is great, just a little soft on the 70mm side when wide open.

    17-70 is a great focal length to have on your camera. I have the sigma version of the 17-70 f2.8 macro. Awesome lens. It's my go-to when I grab my d3100 and will be buying an adapter for whatever body I upgrade to. I noticed the Tamron version does not have macro. I've used the macro many times in the sigma. It's a great walk around kens to always have mounted. Covers 90% of what you will shoot on a day / week out.

    II got this lens to pair with my a6700 and it works wonderfully. I've noticed that it can be a bit soft wide open at 70mm so I usually stop down to like f4. Its also perfect because my 2nd lens choice is the Sony 70 - 350, which covers me from 25.5mm to 525mm effectively, just need to get the viltrox primes now to complete my kit 😁

    So fun to watch and listen - I can't do this entertaining stuff ^^''
    I had the Sigma 18-50mm previously and loved it because I gravitate more and more to small lenses. Only reason why I sold it is because of the move to Leica. I know stupid move regarding price / image quality ratio, but the rangefinder manual focus experience I simply enjoy too much. And these lenses are really small on M system.
    Quick question regarding your editing: Do you have your own presets or do you just do quick edits in LR (or both)?

    Hi Mark, I have the ZV-E10 + Sigma 10-50 2.8 + Samyang 75 1.8 + Sony 11 1.8 combination. I think most shots can be done and the setup is pretty small. The size was the reason to buy the ZV-E10. So is that in Aperture priority? I haven't tried this mode yet, been doing manual and sometimes auto iso but keeping the high range of the iso down to like 1200 max.
    But in priority mode...how does it work? Instead of adjusting for brightness with Auto ISO, it's adjusting the shutter speed automatically? 1/250 or 1/400 etc. Like it will adjust it automatically to keep it at + 0.00?
    And your exposure compensation - is that your way of changing the 'automatic' setting of 0.00 - like you are intentionally making the foreground darker in order to keep the details of the sky in the background? And in post do you just lighten up the foreground a little to compensate?

    Ok. So I ended up getting a BeeStation since I don't have that much digital data yet (holds 4TB), and downloaded all my ZV-E10 shots and videos to it.
    Since I can leisurely look at these on my BeePhotos app, I'm just now appreciating the things in the shots I wasn't focusing on, and am blown away again by how good the ZV-E10 really is.
    The clear stillness of a lake (water shots are amazing), sun stars through the overhead tree branches ... beautiful. I use a few different lenses, most of these shots I'm reviewing are with my Sony 18-105 F4.
    Love my camera.😍

    BTW, since so many great lenses are coming out for crop sensor and MFT cameras, do you see that format exploding or staying steady with photographers? If and when the ZV-E10 Mk 2 comes out, what kind of impact do you think it will have. I think it should as the major improvements made from the a6600 (which still have) to the a6700 (which I preordered and now enjoy) should make the ZV-E10 Mk. 2 a must have for the future blockbuster movie makers. This is exaclty the setup i got as a beginner. In total it became for me less then 1200 euro, but with this lenz you can do so much stuff! Wide enough + vc makes it a good option for some video work, plus at the longer end with 2.8 you can still get some decent bokeh for portraits.

      @pixxelpusher Před měsícem

      The Sony 70-350mm is great if you're a bit timid and don't like getting up close. Can make a good street photography lens for taking detail or portrait shots further back, is mega sharp even wide open and has lovely smooth bokeh.

      @MarkBennettCameraCrisis  Před 2 měsíci

      It’s better for video if you have no image stabilization in the body, but if your camera has IBIS, you might be better off with the sigma because the VC fights the Sony stabilization at times.

    I got my copy of this lens last month, to use in my sony ZVE-10... I Just loved it, and the zoom range is amazing! Now I'm with the Tamron 17-70 and the sony 70-350 G. These two lenses covers basically everything I need and share the same filters! I also have a the Viltrox 23 f1.4, but, although it produces beautiful images, it lacks the versatility of the zoom.

      There’s the Sigma 10-18 f2.8, and the Sony 11 f1.8.
      Both have been reviewed here.
      A dedicated full frame camera (even a used, older model) would be better, but if you NEED to stay with the ZVE10, one of these lenses would work.
      I don’t know which has most image issues (when pixel peeping), but if you don’t pixel peep, or you know how to edit /correct your photos, probably either would work.
      The Sony, with its f1.8 (much better light gathering) should be better, but not sure if you need the zoom range from the Sigma.
      If you don’t mind, let me know if either of these sound good, or if you go with either.

    I've been trying both for my apsc sony and I had chosen Sigma - Tamron is heavy and bulky. It does not fit into pocket in my backpack. At least we don't walk in the middle of the road, everyone has heard the horror stories coming from that. Looks like a great lens to have for the camera. I've got the Sigma 18-50mm on your recommendation and don't regret it. It's a beautiful lens to have, so much better than the stock one that came with the camera. Having the extra 20mm might be nice. Can we do fashion photography (cloths with model) with this 17-70 f2.8 lens ?

  • @TheMooCools
    @TheMooCools Před 2 měsíci

    which one do you recommend Sigma 18 to 50 f2.8 or Temron 17 to 70 f2.8

    • @MarkBennettCameraCrisis
      @MarkBennettCameraCrisis  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I’m going to do a head to head, but overall the sigma is a slightly better optical performer, and it much smaller and is cheaper. so, unless you need the extra reach of 50-70, the Sigma will win out for a lot of people. Both are such great lenses

    Sony zve10 and the 18-105mm AKA Toni4 is the best lenses for this camera. Can't stop telling folks that it is inevitable. Reliable auto focus, rock steady OSS all the way down to 1/10 shutter speed hand held, very usable Zoom range from wide to tight for photo and video. This is the swiss army knife of lense for the ZVE10. I thought the zve10 and a f4 lense at night would be problematic and it's definitely not. Zve10 has features to ensure you get clean video and pictures just need to know which modes to put it in. Hands down I have stopped getting noisy videos and photos at night. I nearly got caught up complaining about the camera till one day I noticed I was limiting what the camera can do. Trust me guys spend time learning the features and what modes to use to befit from the power they have eliminating noise even with a F4 lense at night.

    I bought ZV E10 last year because of you and @thefilmalliance to level up my hobby and passion for soccer, youth events, and travel. Along with kit, Sigma 16, and Sigma 56, picked up Sony G Master 85 F1.4 (for $800 Out of Box (E)). Much to learn, but thankful for your content and will continue to push myself with your experiences, wisdom, and direction. Recently pushed to limits with some instructional videos (ZV E10 overheated several times with Sigma 16 in 85degree weather in Florida), as well as rolling shutter for my 1st wedding. Weighing in on stabilization of cameras vs lens. Have been considering these 2 lens for zoom, film, convenience for the ZV E10, but also considering A6700, ZV E1, and FX30 to increase my efficiency and level up with second camera. Inclined to go with A6700 due to value and budget but due my recent experiences with aforementioned, concerned and feel like FX30 makes most sense in Florida weather and filming experiences. Would love your thoughts...advice. Thanks.
