In B.R. days conductor drivers would've been found and trains could then be diverted Carlisle to Hellifield , Blackburn and Preston.
Since privatisation, though there is no cooperation from one TOC to another.
Time to renationalise our railways and solve the delays like this.

The lack of coaches for the Avanti services is disgraceful from them, there's no reasonable alternative route in that area. It's all well and good saying "Don't travel" but people are already on their journeys
There are alternative routes but for reasons tied up with the current TOC set up it no longer happens.
I believe they make more money in subsidies, when this happens. So their managemenlt couldn't give a stuff,unfortunately!
They don’t really care that much about getting the passengers to their destinations hence “Don’t travel”

Absolute joke of a day made worse by the current U.K. railway setup. They could have simply run services up the Settle Carlisle as before.
Just to jog memories uncouple the electric at Preston, attaché a diesel loco to route services via Blackburn and into the Settle Carlisle and replace the diesel at Carlisle with an electric loco. Reverse the procedure at Carlisle for Scottish Euston services.
If Beeching hadn’t happened route via the little North Western
Sadly the modern long carriages can’t use the Cumbria Coast route because of loading gauge issues north of Barrow.

6& half hours late why didn’t they divert down the EcMl
Yep 6 & a half hours late after it was held at penrith for 5 hours
Would have been terrible on that delayed sleeper.Its bad enough trying to get to sleep on them in the middle of the night.But having to stay in that tiny little room on not very comfy bunk beds during daylight hours with very small windows to see out off,unlucky.
Why on earth was it running knowing it was going to be this delayed? Could it not have been diverted via Settle and Carlisle route along to the East Coast.
It can't run through the settle line as the loco is electric & also the drivers only sign the WCML & ECML
In Swinton south Yorkshire all the trains got cancelled causing 2 spads because they found wartime bombs next to track
The 56 was epic coming up the gradient from Preston Docks

@stebear58 the class 92 locomotive is an electric Locomotive so it can't he used on Settle route
@@DavidLancstrainspotting I know this but are Diesel engine to drag it through. I worked on the railways for 20 years
@@stebear58 diesel loco only runs it from Inverness, Aberdeen and fort william to Edinburgh
@@stebear58can work on the railway for 200 years it doesnt mean a diesel capable of it exists or drivers magically sign it

lol the late running 92 sleeper was loud, that grid was really smoking and screaming, nice IETS and northern belle the tesco train too
@SionsTrainVideos 92020 1M16 arrived at Euston 5 hours & 45 minutes late after being delayed for 6 hours at Penrith, 56 colas was great, IETS to great to see, Northern Belle made me run as it was sent to wrong platform

9:18 saw Windsor castle on the northern belle going Carlisle to Newcastle via Hellifield

Hi Graham ye the loco 92020 was noisy its dyson sounds are loud when the brakes are on
